From the beginning I knew I had made the right decision to hire Scott to create a 3D CAD model of my product for use in 3D printing. As a first time product developer I was feeling incredibly overwhelmed and nervous to share my idea with someone else, but Scott quickly put me at ease with his professional and patient demeanor. He constantly sent updates of the design, allowing me to provide feedback on the work and we held regular video chats where he would share his work screen with me and we could discuss and change the design of the product in realtime, which was highly productive and really sped up the process. I would highly recommend hiring Scott for your product design work, especially if you are a first time product designer, like myself and have been intimidated by large, expensive design firms. I am so satisfied with Scott's work that I am hiring him to do the 3D printing of the product as well and will not hesitate to hire him again to design other products for me.

Very experienced designer with knowledge of all the latest tools. Has made himself available at short notice and always on time. We're getting into the next phase of the project, prototyping and tooling drawings, so I will update later. Very satisfied at this point.

About

Growing up, I had inherited some of my mother's artistic talent and a lot of my father's mechanical aptitude, and I was always creating something or voiding a warranty by taking things apart to figure out what make them tick. I also got something else from my father, a neurological disorder that causes tremors in my hands that frustrated me to the point that I eventually gave up drawing. Eventually, I started using a computer to type everything instead of struggling with handwriting discomfort. Then, I got into CAD and computer graphics. I am back! I just have to get into a comfortable position with my hands supported at the wrist, and I'm good to go. The occasional inadvertent click or keystroke from time to time are easy enough to fix but compared to not being able to draw or create otherwise like it had been for years. I'm happy to draw whatever. I took my wife to the doctor last week, and I did a 3D model of the waiting room while waiting, or due to a recent bout of unemployment, I was a bit frustrated when I came out of unemployment building and sat in my truck for a little bit feeling down, but then I reached behind my seat and got my laptop and modeled the front half of the building, therapy by Dell. I learned to do Shop Drawings at a company I worked for and even other companies. I have a friend whose wife is a Realtor and started doing floor plans for her and others in her office. Then came a whole new facet to drafting (dramatic pause), 3D modeling! Now, I could digitally recreate all those things I would take apart. Call me crazy, but some of my favorite illustrations are technical illustrations like in most assembly manuals and the patent drawing. The standards set by the US patent office required for filing for a patent have remained relatively unchanged since its inception. They just have a look like they had just been finished the night before by someone working in a room illuminated by a candle or oil lamp using a pen that had to be constantly dipped in an ink well to make sure the line weights (thickness) stayed consistent. In those days, there were craftsmen and artisans, today though, most would be called operators. Someone trained to operate whatever computer-powered machine to put out what ever is in demand. So, I also am but merely "an operator", but considering the heart and passion I put into my work, the work that I can only now do because of these computers, I'll gladly concede to being called an operator, but no one can stop me from wearing my pajamas that say "craftsman". BTW, just to get a chance to use my "electric crayons", I do both black and white and colored architectural renderings, and if any one is interested, I do tutoring on SketchUp, a free 3D modeling program.
