Introduction: I am formally trained from Johnson and Wales University. Ive been in the food industry for 15 years and am currently a pastry instructor at a culinary school. I use high quality ingredients and do highly detailed work to make your event that much more delicious and spectacular. I do specialized cakes for the person down to the smallest detail to make the cake one of a kind. I also have a cake safe that I use so your large wedding cake arrives safely to the event. At every wedding there is dessert of some type. I can make whatever you would like whether it be a cake, pie, cake in a jar wedding favors or any other dessert. Cupcake Confections baked three wedding cakes for our three children's weddings. Each cake was beautifully decorated and individualized reflecting some aspect of each bride and grooms lives. All three cakes were delivered to the reception venues on time, in perfect condition, and displayed beautifully.Needless to say, all three wedding cakes were delicious. The only problem occurred at the first wedding where the cake was totally consumed by the guests (returning for seconds and thirds) before the parents of the bride were able to enjoy a portion. We were only able to obtain a rather small sampling from the pillars supporting the various layers! The original cake was more than adequate. It was just that it was so good that the guests continued to return for more! We have also have had the pleasure of enjoying some of Kate's confections as well as her various "cakes-in-a-jar" which are absolutely delicious. The only regret/remorse that we have is distance between our home and her bakery. We live 6 hours apart.

I needed a very specific cake for a very special occasion. The requirements included many details plus it needed to be really good, not too sweet,chocolate & designed well for I think about 30 guests. The details included an ice mountain with penguins of all sorts being active. Katelyn was wonderful to work with. We had a fun meeting throwing ideas around & then I just left it up to her. When I picked up the cake,l was blown away by the creativity of the design. Penguins were all handmade & in all sizes were beyond cute. The detail was wonderful. Katelyn even made a slide from the top tier to the bottom with penguins. She is an artist. BUT the very best thing about the cake was how it tasted. It was a chocolate pound cake with the fondant icing. It was the best cake I have ever had & I'm 67 yrs old. Everyone plus the special guest felt the same way. It has been a year ago & we are still talking about that cake. What a baker!!!! I recommend her to all

I have never tasted such good cakes made to order. I have missed Katelyn immensely since she left Charlotte to move to Raleigh. She is the best pastry chef. You will not regret ordering from her. My favorite carrot cake and the apple with spice. Miss you girl!!!

Kate has made several cakes for me over the years. They are always perfectly executed...from birthday cakes, to graduation cakes, to cakes in a jar and candies. Her attention to detail never ceases to amaze me. Thanks Kate for providing our family with not only tasty confections, but also beautiful ones!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
All my prices for basic buttercream cakes and simple buttercream decorations is $4 per person. Covering in fondant is additional and more detailed decorations cost additional. I add the price for extra decorations and fondant to the total, not to the per person price.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I have them come for a consultation so we can talk about services and go over your dream dessert.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a teacher at a career college for pastry and am always researching new trends and techniques online. I have an Associates in Baking and Pastry Arts, an Associates in Culinary Arts, and a Bachelor's in Food Service Management. I have worked at other jobs as well over the years including cake bakeries, chocolate shops, and a Pastry Chef at one of the US top 100 restaurants.
