I have known Charlie for 20 years. He is a professional guitarist, bass player, and sound engineer. He excels in all kinds of music and can teach you rock, jazz, blues, and classical guitar as well as any forms of bass. Not only does he know and play music, he understands what sounds best. My son took bass lessons from Charlie and his skill increased dramatically. He is funny and easy to work with and makes sure he's teaching you in a style that will work best for you. My son said he was his favorite music teacher.
Robert PJ Bussey was my guitar teacher from 1996 to 2001. I was in my early 30s, and thinking about what I wanted to do next in my life. I had a love for music, along with a bass guitar which I wanted to learn to play. PJ spent two years teaching me to play that. During this time I discovered I could write song lyrics. To be able to put music to my words I felt I should learn to play guitar, so we spent another two years on that. As I would learn new chords I would try to incorporate those into whatever song I was working on; that forced me to learn the chord. In 2000 my good friend, who sang and played guitar, and I went into a recording studio, along with PJ and other musicians, to record and make a CD, which honestly was a highlight of my life; Im proud I did that. Im eternally grateful for the time PJ spent with me - I owe a lot to him.
Liz has been an amazing instructor. She has given me lots of useful tips and practice suggestions to get better and use proper technique. Her lessons have been perfect for my abilities, she is extremely knowledgable, patient, supportive, and easy to work with. Thanks!
Been taking guitar lessons with Nathan for two months. Excellent teacher, extremely talented and knowledgeable, completely focused on the student, courteous, tailors the instruction towards my goals. Reasonable rate, would definitely recommend.
Marvin is a very experienced player whether on bass, guitar or vocals. He teaches students to feel the music and express their heart and soul when they play. In addition to the standard music scales and theory, he teaches you how to control your breathing and relax before a show so that you are in control of the show not the crowd and not the jitters.
Dwight Mabe: What a "seasoned professional" can do for you! I took weekly lessons from Dwight via Skype for six months and he brought me up to a new level. The first couple of sessions were "assessment" - getting a feel for where my skills and weaknesses were. He quickly came up with a written lesson plan for the next six months, with monthly adjustments as needed. I was given a practice schedule and printed weekly exercises in standard notation and tablature. Dwight would show me how to do the exercises after which it was up to me to practice and learn the material. We covered theory, technique, phrasing, ear training and much more. I can assure you that your time spent under the guidance of Dwight Mabe is going to take you up to your next skill level and beyond. What else can you expect from a bassist who has performed with Stan Kenton and Jack Bruce?
I take guitar lessons from Mike and I think he is really fun! He knows, like, every song, so you can learn anything! Sense and Color is the best music school!
We LOVE School Of Rock~ Charlotte. Our daughter was proficient in playing her instruments (lead guitar and bass) when she became a student at #RockHaus; however, wanted to branch out in the styles of music she preformed, as well as enhance her stage persona. WOW, did she ever!! She has gone from feeling uncomfortable moving on stage to looking as if she has been on stage for years. She has stepped out of her comfort zone, trying keyboards, drums and really astounding us by singing vocals...she had never sang alone in public in her life! This is all thanks to the encouragement and support of the truly gifted musicians who teach at the BEST ROCK SCHOOL in the region. There is always a smile, a friendly face and support as the fabulous staff meet the students where they are...from the tiniest beginner student, through adults, everyone is treated with respect, excitement and joy. Jill Livick, SOR General Manger, is genius at running the school. To see her interact with parents on such a professional, yet personal level lets you know that each student matters. She loves what she does and it shows. For Jill, it isn't about the bottom line, it is about giving the students a voice and then seeing where it leads. I absolutely recommend School of Rock for anyone who is ready to learn to play an instrument, sing, perform, make friends with other musicians and gain confidence. You will find lessons, workshops, performance opportunities, incredible shows and working, caring musicians as instructors...I couldn't ask for anything more.
