My husband & I had Shawn out because we had just gotten a third dog to add to our “pack”. Although we are seasoned dog owners it had been awhile since we had to do any training. Adding another dog changed the dynamics of our situation & we wanted to help the new dog assimilate into the household smoothly. Shawn helped us address our issues with the new dog as well as helpful tips to be sure the established dogs were happy also. We needed to be reminded how to assert our Alpha role & how to be consistent & follow through. She even came out a second time & consulted with us via phone & email when we needed. She was informative, friendly & fun to work with!

Stephane, the business owner, came by to meet us prior to using the service despite impending icy weather. Her heart for dogs is obvious and her friendliness and professionalism came through. Rachael, who ended up walking our dogs, also came by prior to walking the dogs and all went well. Relieved to have a caring, competent dog service to turn to when we need them.

I have Ms. Rivera come to my house every time I leave town, so my Husband doesn't have to do the dusting, sweeping, bathroom stuff. I do really love the added bonus; while Ms. Rivera is in my home she lets our dogs out in the yard while she cleans and brings them back in before she leaves. She even gives them water if it's getting low! Angelic Touch services has really put my mind at ease while I'm away from my husband & children. The are truly a blessing & I will never find the treatment nor results from any other company out there. I highly recommend choosing them!

I run a dog training business (sk9t.net) and at any one time can have up to 3 dozen dogs in my facility. Ellie has shown great care with larger dogs and smaller, calm and anxiety ridden, long and short haired. She took time to familiarize herself with each and do a wonderful job caring for them. I'd hire Ellie again in a heart beat. For my dogs or my clients' needs. Thanks, Ellie!

We got a puppy and were having a lot of potty training issues. Myke was able to put our minds at ease, as I was quickly coming to my wits end. He was very patient with our dog and showed us a lot of good training exercises to work with the puppy’s behavior and potty training problems. Even Myke agreed that our dog was a little stubborn on potty training but didn’t give up until we learned a strategy that worked for our pup. We are happy to report that our puppy is doing a lot better. Some in house accidents, due to her not fully undersnading how to get our attention to go outside, but she at least sits by the back door and tries to wait for us. Life has been difficult with a one year old toddler and a puppy but Myke helped us a lot and we just have to continue with his techniques and I’m sure this pup will be a cherished pet for many years!

Lynette is incredible! She took fantastic care of our dog - I can't imagine anyone who will love and take care of your dog better than Lynette. She gave us updates on how he was doing and kept in touch throughout our trip. When she stopped by the house 1 week later our dog licked her face and wouldn't leave her side! He is smitten with her. We couldn't recommend her any more highly!

We hired Michelle to take care of our dog ,Dash for a long weekend. She did a great job caring for our home and our dog while we were away. She left notes for each day of her stay and sent a pic and text to keep us updated while we were away. She is knowledgeable about dogs and I could tell she has a love of working with animals. I'd definitely have her keep our dog again in the future!!

I have been using Raleigh Pet Sitters for over three years now. They are amazing! The dog walkers are responsible, knowledgeable, and reliable. I have had the pleasure of working with Jess for about a year now and she is so easy to reach-just a simple text away. I love that she leaves a note about their walk! Jess has walked some of my foster dogs as well as my own puppies and they are always happy and tired when I come home! My schedule is constantly changing and there have been several times where I have needed a dog walker with only a few hours notice. Cindy and Jess have always managed to make sure that my dogs are taken care of and for that, I highly recommend Raleigh Pet Sitters!

Absolutely hands down the best pet care takers I have Ever had. I have Two puppies , a golden doodle (large) and a havanese (ex small) and a really busy work life. I needed A pet sitter for over night stay last minute. Within an hour last minute and Jen the owner texted me back within minutes and worked me Into her busy schedule, her daughter Amiya had watched my dogs and stayed over with them, they are the loveliest people I have Ever met. It’s scary leaving your dogs and house with someone you have never met but these ladies are the most trusting animal loving good souls I could Have ever hoped for. Not only that but they are super affordable and keep you updated through out the day and night she even sent me pictures of my pups. I will ONLY use them for future sitting needs for my dogs. I highly Highly recommend and wish I could Leave a higher star rating than 5!

Working with Ashley was very easy and efficient. In the matter of an afternoon she taught us the knowledge and tools we needed to continue working with our new 1 year old dog as well as our 10 year old dog. We love that this form of teaching does not include treats and can be used at all times. We are very pleased how well our dogs responded to the teaching and behavior modification. Thank you Ashley!

I had a red-zone young dog and had gone through numerous trainers who could not make him stop attacking everyone...he was very aggressive. Stacy was a God-send. She very quickly won his trust and immediately helped him and me. She worked with us with care and expertise and I shall always be beholding to her for saving my dog. It is nine years later and he is one of the greatest dogs I have ever had...thanks to Stacy's magic.

Suzannah's vast knowledge of dog behavior and training skills is quite impressive. I have had many conversations with her concerning dog behavior and training and have personally observed her training a scared, timid dog as well as a quite energetic, uncontrolled dog. I am quite impressed seeing the results of that training as those two dogs have come such a long, long way from how they were when I first observed her in action. I highly recommend Synergetic Canine.

Kelley was an absolute lifesaver for us and our Goldendoodle, Reuben! She has a unique and very effective method of training canines of any breed We we're amazed with Kelley's 'calm sense' that truly transposed Reuben's demeanor and responsiveness to commands. We learned simple commands that made it easy for us. The wealth of knowledge and experience Kelley shares during training is invaluable!

When we inherited a senior bichon frise whom we couldn't keep at our current living situation with his existing behaviour and medical problems, we enrolled him in boarding school. It was the best decision we'd ever made! Paisley and Jon became the family he didn't have, and Paisley made miraculous progress with his separation anxiety, nuisance barking, cooperative care handling for veterinary care and grooming, and even started him on a canine fitness programme. When we brought our "Uncle Bogey" to Pinnacle, he could barely walk. He spent his last few months trotting a mile some days, and just thoroughly enjoying family life. Paisley's professionalism, and her deep understanding of the science behind canine behaviour and learning theory, are exceeded only by her genuine love for dogs.

I have recently had to complete 30 pounds of fat weight loss. Angelo helped me to burn the fat and after my metabolism was sufficient enough he helped me put on muscle. Now I weigh approx 195 with 12% body fat and when's started I was around 25% body fat. He also requested that his colleague nutritionist assist helping me with weight loss. I believe that when you have a nutritionist and and exercise professional to assist you (with your own determination) you must succeed! Highly commendable and results were absolutely long term and very affective. He not only teaches you how to win in health but in life in general. You miss out if Angelo isn't helping you.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is included in a dog grooming?

Dog grooming is so much more than giving your dog a bath. Dog grooming is a broad term that covers all aspects of canine cleanliness and hygiene. The services included in dog grooming will vary based on your needs and what you choose to pay. Unless they are rolling in cowpies or playing in mud puddles, most dogs are okay getting a shampoo bath only as needed. You’ll know when they need it if they smell bad or are bringing dirt into the house. Some dogs, like shepherds and shih tzus, have thick coats that can get matted and tangled without regular care. Pro dog groomers can deftly blow dry a dog’s hair after a bath so that it is shiny and smooth. Dog grooming can include brushing that detangles dog hair and also thins the undercoat to minimize shedding.

Dog grooming also includes hygiene services such as toothbrushing and ear cleaning. Clean teeth are important to the health of your dog, and the pros have the patience and proper technique to get it done. Regular dog grooming can stave off tear stains, those reddish stains below your dog’s eyes. Anal gland expression is something not many people want to do on their own, even if they love their dog. A dog groomer can safely and efficiently release any blocked anal gland fluid. Other dog grooming services include nail trimming and clipping. Nationally, dog grooming prices range from $60 to $80. Most dog groomers offer discounts to customers who purchase monthly packages or bundle multiple grooming services at one time.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

      • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
      • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
      • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
      • What are your different walk routes?
      • When will you pick up and drop off?
      • How will we communicate?
      • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
      • What’s your cancellation policy?
      • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
      • How and how often do I pay you?
      • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

      What is a dog groomer?

A dog groomer is a service professional who provides dog grooming and basic hygiene care for your dog. Dog groomers are typically animal lovers who are competent and comfortable working with a wide range of dog breeds and temperaments. Dog groomers are knowledgeable about the care needs for different kinds of dog coats. A poodle will have different haircut needs than a shih tzu, for example, so it pays to have a trained pro provide the proper cut. Good dog groomers know how to safely clean your dog’s teeth, bathe your dog, and cut their nails without going too short. They understand how to trim the hair from around your dog’s face, express anal glands, and clean your dog’s ears. Many people who choose dog grooming as a profession also pursue other dog services such as attending veterinary school, running a doggy day care center, working as a professional dog walker, and more.

      What is a dog groomer?

Keep your family dogs happy, healthy and clean with regular dog grooming. A dog groomer is a business owner or employee of a dog grooming business who specializes in dog hygiene and grooming. To find a reputable dog groomer, research reviews, ask for references and confirm that the groomer has good standing in the dog grooming community.

A dog groomer should be comfortable and competent working with dogs of all breeds and temperaments. Typically a groomer will have trained with other groomers and taken educational courses to keep abreast of the latest safety information and techniques. There are brick-and-mortar dog grooming businesses, as well as mobile dog groomers who bring all their equipment and provide their services at your home or location. In some cases, brick-and-mortar businesses will also pick up and return your dog for an additional fee.

What vaccines do dogs need to be groomed?

It’s important to make sure your dog is up to date on its vaccines before taking it to a groomer. Vaccinations keep your dog and the other dogs that use the establishment healthy. Viruses can linger long after a dog is gone, so an unvaccinated dog can infect a number of other dogs days or even months after their visit. Find out about your dog groomer’s vaccination policies, and think carefully about receiving services from a company that does not require vaccinations. Here are the main vaccinations that are generally required for dog grooming:

      • Parvovirus: Parvo is a nasty virus that can kill dogs within 48-72 hours of infection. The virus is incredibly persistent and, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association, is resistant to heat, cold, humidity and drying. It’s spread by dog-to-dog contact or contact with contaminated feces, environments (food and water bowls, collars and leashes, etc.,) or people.
      • Adenovirus 2: Dogs receive this vaccination to protect against canine infectious hepatitis. The vaccination can also helps prevent canine cough.
      • Canine distemper virus: Distemper has no known cure and can cause serious pain, illness, and even death, although recovery is possible with medical intervention.
      • Rabies: This disease attacks the central nervous system and — when untreated — will
      • lead to death. The CDC recommends euthanizing an unvaccinated animal that has been exposed to rabies, although six-month isolation followed by vaccination is also permissible.
      • Para-influenza: Canine para-influenza leads to kennel cough and an unhappy dog.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
