Working Dog Pet Care
About this pro
I can't recommend Paula/Working Dog Care highly enough. She's conscientious, responsible and treats the dogs in her care like her own. I have an Australian Shepherd and she's spent quite a bit of time helping me get him off to a good start. We've worked in social settings, honed his manners in public (no jumping, etc), and worked on a toning down some of his natural instincts as a herder (barking etc). The training has been enormously beneficial, especially the overnight stays. He comes back to me happy, healthy and better behaved. Paula/working dog care is my #1 choice for dog training and/or boarding.Apr 18, 2018
Paula has been caring for and training my dog for almost the last 3 years. I have a rescue dog that had so many issues including pulling on the leash, reactivity to other dogs, and he would not jump into the car or on a couch when invited to name a few. Paula worked with Joey and taught me how to continue the training at home. I now have a very well behaved dog and Joey has an Aunt for life. I can take him out to social events and I often get compliments on his good behavior. I don't know what we would have done without her!Apr 2, 2018
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?$75/hour for private consultations $65/night for working on training issues in my own home
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I usually discuss the issues over the phone with the client so I can ascertain the best way to address them. Then a time is scheduled to meet wherever the dog is having issues whether that is at home, the dog park, etc. I recommend most people start with a private lesson to see if that will solve the issues. If it does not, then we can discuss other ways to improve the pet's behavior.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I've worked with hundreds of dogs, multiple rescue organizations, and several training companies. I'm trained in pet CPR, and have taught group classes. I find there is something new to learn every day. My goal is to take at least one new class every year to learn a new skill or technique.
