Trey & his team are the absolute best. They were on time & ready to work. I had 3 large storage units and they were able to empty them out very quickly. They even combined what wasn't going into our home into one storage unit so that I could get rid of two of the units. They unloaded the trucks and put everything into the rooms that they needed to go into. There was no talking on phones or slow moving. There was no dragging things out to get more money. They worked quickly and efficiently! They were very professional! They took one quick break and went back to work. Moving can be a draining experience but Trey and his team made it so easy. I am very pleased with my experience and would recommend that anyone looking to make moving easier to use Trey & his team.

I had a local move from a storage space to my one bedroom apartment. Dakydes was available on short notice and promptly gave a me a quote for the move that was well below their competitors. On the day of the move everything went smoothly. The guys arrived on time, were friendly, hard working, and completed the job within the specified time frame. It truly made my moving experience stress free.

I thoroughly checked for a moving company and couldn't have been more satisfied or accommodated as I was with High Proformance Movers. Matt has a family oriented setup in working to contact and follow through on your moving needs. When meeting up he was very friendly and even though talking to me over the phone about the services provided, in person he talked me through the process of what was being done. My belongings were handled with care and packed with organization. His best friend was very detail oriented and together they worked as a team to get me moved from a storage unit to my place. I felt like a part of the family and would love to hire them again in the future. They went above and beyond even putting together a bunk bed not to mention moving me up 3 flights of stairs! I would recommend this company to everyone! Team work makes the dream work and that's exactly what they did! Bless you brothers! Navasha and Family!

This moving company is outstanding. Bull City Movers Plus moved my furnishings out of a house, and into an apartment, and some things into a storage unit. They handle all of my things with care. They are professional, and offer reasonable rates. I recommend them 100%. Thanks again Mr. Nelson and crew!

First off, the two guys who came to help were so well mannered and willing to help! My mom and I didn't have to lift a finger. They even helped me put my bed together (i would be sleeping on a mattress if it wasn't for them!) I went thru about 10 moving companies before I settled on campus bellhops. They gave me a great price and made the entire experience a whole lot easier!!

Great communicators and hard workers! These guys were extremely efficient despite soaring temps and a less than ideal job of packing (that one is on me). Wish I would have used their bin storage system for a more sustainable (and sturdy) packing solution than the lousy boxes we bought. Regardless, everything happened on-time and our move was about as painless as we could have hoped. We couldn't be happier!

This was my second time using Haj for a move. Both moves were handled in a professional manner. He is very careful packing and moving antique furniture. He was flexible and worked with me when I needed to make changes. I highly recommend Haj and would use him again for a move.

He and Alex were very professional. They came on time, did good job with wrapping our furniture and stacking them in the truck. The unloading was quick. They rolled out a red carpet (;) ) to ensure that our wooden floor does not get spolied moving the trolley.

Bobby runs a fantastic operation. Excellent communication before the move, prompt arrival and efficient use of time. A reasonable hourly rate is all inclusive (truck rental + 2 movers, no hidden fees), and an incredibly reasonable (yet optional) insurance/ liability policy in case something were to happen during the job. The crew took great care of my possessions during the move and were highly professional throughout the entire day. I would definitely recommend The Movers on Demand to anyone looking for moving/ transportation needs in the area.

I had lived in my townhouse for 15 years and I had a LOT of stuff/items collected over the years and I wanted my belongings moved with perfection and ease. I was so impressed with how they protected my items. EVERYTHING was intact and there was NO damage to any of my items. I will recommend Pick Up Movers to anyone that's moving. The moving team did an EXCELLENT JOB WITH MY BELONGS!!!

Where do I even begin. Lewis (Owner), Michael, Timmy and Tim were absolutely phenomenal. My story is a bit different in that the job was unable to be completed (through no fault of the company) . I hired B&L for junk removal for an apartment move out. From the time I was given a very reasonable quote...to the polite gentleman contacting me well in advance to verify the details of the job...to Michael being considerate enough to think of additional costs to me and assisting in researching alternatives then working closely with Lewis to troubleshoot options to challenges brought about by my apartment trash disposal restrictions. Again, they were awesome and very patient after having completing a job that was over an hour away. I was treated as though my job was their priority the whole time. I already have a few upcoming installation projects (in my new place) that I plan to use them for. EXTREMELY PLEASED WITH B&L AND WOULD DEFINITELY USE AGAIN AS WELL AS REFER.

Alex and company are amazing! We were being strung along by our big-name moving company, and needed to be in Missouri to start a new job. After yet another delay, and yet another "guarantee", we were desperate and found AmerApex Moving. Alex contacted us on a Monday and by Thursday, they were there! They were absolute lifesavers, and did everything they could to take care of our belongings and make us feel at ease. And then they were in Missouri by Saturday to unload everything in our new house! On top of that, they are incredibly friendly and made a stressful situation feel much lighter. We can't thank Alex enough, and wish every moving company out there could be half as professional and effective as his!

If you are moving and want to work with some of the best in the business you need to call BeeLine. They are all hard working, professional, polite, and will treat your stuff like its their own. I'm so happy with our move!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

      • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
      • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
      • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
      • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
      • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much should you tip furniture movers?

Moving furniture is hard work and potentially dangerous unless you’re properly equipped. For anyone not ready to handle their heavy oak armoire alone, professional furniture movers can safely and efficiently move your items to another room in your house or across town as needed. The national average cost to hire heavy furniture movers is $150-$200 per hour. This rate could include multiple furniture movers working as a team to move items such as beds, armoires, billiards tables, pianos, shelves, tables, entertainment centers and more. Hourly rates can vary by region. If your furniture movers have arrived on time, done a great job, kept your home and belongings protected from scratches and dings, and completed the move as planned, a tip will be greatly appreciated. Moving companies suggest approximately 10 percent of the total bill as gratuity for those doing local moving jobs, which is also a good guideline for tipping heavy furniture movers. If the total bill for heavy moving was $100 and two workers were onsite, consider giving them $10 total, or $5 each for a job well done.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
