Introduction: Hi, my name is Kevin McClain of McMusic Lessons & Performances. Teaching allows me to share music on a different level from performing music. I love to talk about different concepts and see the "light bulb" turn on within my students' minds. I provide guitar and piano lessons for all ages. Lessons are charged on a pay as you go basis with options to prepay for discounted rates, based on the amount of time purchased. I offer house calls, lessons in my studio, ane online music lessons. House Calls include an additional service charge. In-studio lessons are provided in Palos Hills, IL. Online music lessons include live video chat followed by customized video examples of songs and exercises. The videos speak directly to the strengths and weaknesses of each student. McMusic Lessons & Performances strives to inspire a deeper understanding of music within the beginner. Lessons focus on a strong foundation in theoretical studies and it's application to practice. We also study the learning process and creativity. Students learn a spatial orientation in concept and play to develop an awareness that provokes experimentation and discovery. This provides for an understanding that reaches beyond the typical strategies of pattern recognition and memorization. All students learn to read and write music at any age. The lessons are designed to nurture a lifetime of creativity. Learn how to play your favorite songs on the guitar, piano, or ukulele. Take music lessons at home, in-studio, or online. I liked to apologize. I mistakenly messaged you by mistake. I do appreciate your quick response. I would love to take music lessons but I am no longer in the state. I have a granddaughter now and I left her my piano she’ll be 5 next April. I don’t know when like them to begin so just let me know and and I’ll contact you when you give us the green light. Kevin is great with my kids and I. He teaches us how to read actual music. He simplifies the lessons and exercises to each student's individual level. Even my youngest is reading and writing music. Really lucky to find him at these prices. I would recommend Kevin to anyone looking for guitar lessons or piano lessons.

Kevin is EXCELLENT with children. We have a 6yr old and an 8yr old taking piano and he has the patience of a saint while trying to keep them focused.

Excellent teacher. I've tried a few teachers and was pretty stumped with the material, to no fault of their own. Kevin was able to get me on the right page and teachers me how to practice productively zeroing in on active results. One of the best piano teachers I've ever experienced.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pay-as-you-go or prepay for discounted rates that range between $20 - $55 a lesson. Rates are based on the amount of time purchased and the location of the lesson. Additional discounts are available for remote learning. Scheduling house call music lessons are subject to availability and include a $10 service fee in addition to $1 / traveled mile round trip calculated from the studio located in Crestwood Illinois. Remote learning is provided with additional discounts and available to any location. See rates and discounts on our main website by clicking on the rates tab in the navigation menu on the home page.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Customers can request for a quote for any lesson plan or pay-as-you-go music lesson at my website. Customers usually schedule pay-as-you-go music lessons to try out before eventually purchasing monthly or quarterly prepaid enrollment to take advantage of discounted rates.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Though the music teachers at McMusic Lessons are primarily classically-trained, as students of theory and composition, we study, write, perform, and teach in a variety of styles and genre. The music director, Kevin McClain has been playing rock, alternative, funk, jazz, improvisation, and formally studied music all throughout grade school, high school, and college. He received his associate's degree from Moraine Valley Community College where he studied Theory I - IV, classical piano, classical guitar, and played guitar in the Moraine Valley Jazz Band. He was recommended to the guitar and composition programs at DePaul University School of Music in Chicago, Illinois. His degree was left unfinished after moving to Fort Bragg North Carolina in support of his Wife and Her commitment to the United States military. He spent time teaching on base and began conducting online music lessons to maintain my students in various locations.
