Introduction: Ultimately, the client receives a perfect product--zero spelling, grammatical, typographical, punctuation, etc., errors. In my proofreading, I find what others have missed, especially the author. Having the opportunity to read is a delight and finding errors and problems that improve the author's work is a challenge which ends with great satisfaction for the author and me in knowing the end product is perfect.

I simply charge by the hour at $25 per hour. This makes it easy on the client and me.

Yes, when available, but that's not something that is readily offered for proofreaders.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Proofreading perfection came as a result of many years of detailed legal work. A tiny mistake in a legal document can be a disaster for the attorney and the client. It became a personal mission to make sure that the work I produced was perfect. That approach to my work product has served me well.
