- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a member of the American Culinary Federation and a ServSafe instructor.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Tim recently started a new company, I Have A Chef, offering personal chef services to the greater Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill area. He arrived at this decision as a way to pay off the medical bills accumulated during his wifes battle with breast cancer that she won. Prior to this new endeavor he currently holds the position of Chef Manager with Southern Foodservice Management. Before coming to Southern Foodservice Management he has been the executive chef for the Sheraton Raleigh Hotel and Croasdaile Country Club most recently. While at all these properties Tim was able to elevate the menus and food to a higher quality through fresher and finer ingredients coupled with staff training in culinary fundamentals and classic techniques.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Just because someone has cooked their entire life does not make them a chef. The title chef is still loosely thrown around. Make sure you are hiring a chef and not just a person who can cook fairly well.
