I have only met with the instructor once, so I can't give much of a review, but from what I've seen and the little I know, I think he will be a good fit for me. Additionally, I saw him play in a band locally, and they are really good, so I feel confidant in his ability.

You can ask Dan to play anything from classical, to pop~rock or jazz; perhaps something sacred, or a TV theme tune!!! ...and there it is, in your ear. Amazingly outstanding.

The Next Level knocked it out of the park at our wedding reception! They were exactly what we were looking! They kept the energy and excitement going until the very end! Joe, the manager of the band, was very responsive and was able to facilitate any special requests. They even performed a song they had never heard of for our first dance. I highly recommend considering The Next Level for any event where you may be looking for a top notch live band. Thanks to all of the band members for helping to make our wedding day unforgettable!

My husband and I decided on Melonbelly Music for live entertainment for our wedding on September 21, 2013 in Blowing Rock, NC. These guys are FANTASTIC! We were so impressed by their involvement in the planning process, engagement in learning our style, and accommodation of our request for specific songs for the ceremony and special dances. We could not have asked for anything better! They definitely exceeded our expectations! We hope to hear them perform again soon to reminisce on our special day!

My wife and I were at Buddy's last night and saw your show. Just want you to know it was the most fun we've had in a long time and yes we do need to get out more lol, but seriously, you did a great job with the audience and keeping things flowing. My wife was the blonde that you kept trying to get up on stage, she sang with one of the two Army guys that were sitting behind us. They sang a horrible Barry Manilow song. Just a little hint, my wife is a store manager and the last thing she wants to do is socialize, but after a few drinks her inhibitions go away. On the weekends we have our own "house party" where we play music and she will sing. She literally has a photographic memory when it comes to lyrics, which still amazes me to this day. And she raps pretty darn good for a white girl too, and she's a New Yorker, but don't hold that against her lol. She can kick out some Jason Mraz and Blues Traveler, she does an awesome job with their song Hook and challenged the Sgt. Major to learn it for next week haha. So hopefully we will see you on Wednesdays, thats our typical night because of the 50 cent wings. This is only the second time in our sixteen years of being together that she's done Karaoke, you did a great job and we had a fantastic time. Also love the trumpet guy, my wife thanked him for playing and told him my dad played trumpet for years with my mom in a variety band when I was young and has since passed and his playing reminded us of him. She said a tear welled up in his eye, I understand he follows you from event to event. That's awesome! Anyway, I'll introduce ourselves next time and just wanted to say thank you for entertaining us last night, it's a memory we will have for a long, long time! Jeff and Dawn Arwine

We hired the band for mine and my wife's wedding reception, and not only was the music great and they kept the guest on their feet but they were very punctual as far as getting to the venue and having their setup completed before most of the wedding party even arrived to start getting ready for the ceremony! Brian was also very easy to deal with and communicated well with what we wanted and what order we wanted certain events to happen during our reception.

My wife and I hired Jazz Regolution for our wedding reception and we couldn't be happier about the result. The band was professional, accommodating, and very talented. Our guests had a lot of fun with the dancing and had many good things to say about the quality of the live music. I highly recommend Jazz Revolution for a wedding reception or any similar event.

I have know Peter for 10 years as a classical violinist and as a fiddler in a blue grass band. He is very skilled and technical in many music styles. He doesn't just enjoy playing the violin, but enjoys what the violin does and the essence of the instrument. Because of the variety in his talents and passion, he makes an excellent teacher and offers perspective that you won't find in other teachers.

Our son has gone there for 4 years and learned so much. He has sang in the same venues as the pro's do. Plus he has gotten to play with and be mentored by 3/4 of a great rock band Killakoi. He will stay until he graduates.

These guys put on a great show. It was a perfect act for the city festival that I manage. Being faced with the difficult task of finding entertainment to please an audience with wide musical interests, I found The Folsom Prison Gang to be a perfect selection as most people really enjoy the music of Johnny Cash. I received more positive feedback from people about The Folsom Prison Gang versus all of the other bands combined.

I can not get this raving review written fast enough!!!!! We selected Kids in America for our December 2nd company Christmas party....so glad we did! Our very first contact was with Mike the drummer. He was so friendly and willing to answer questions about how to plan and progress. When party time arrived they were courteous and professional Their set up was like clockwork. What a selection of music! They were amazing to watch because it was a show!! That really met our needs because folks in our company do not always know each other. Once folks got comfortable they were up on there feet dancing. You will be so happy with this band. They are amazing! USE THEM!!!! Julie Woodie Charlotte,NC

This man is the best when it comes to playing music. He can play anything he puts his hands on. He self taught himself how to play the Pedal Steel Guitar. He has been in so many bands and has traveled alot thru out the years. He plays all kinds of music such as Bluegrass, Country, and Southern Rock. He has a passion for music and he always has. If you haven't heard him play you should check him out for yourself.

Michael C band performed as a surprise for my wife at our wedding. They were amazing and played some of our favorite songs. Michael C. also made sure they had practiced the song for our first dance "All of Me - John Legend" and they killed it! Thank you so much, Mike and the rest of the band!

All of the above! They are excellent musicians, to start with. They added requested first dance selections with pleaure and delivered them with excellence. People loved dancing to their music and also listening to them. They worked with us to plan a special surprise send off that blew my daughter and her husband away. They even worked in an unplanned special request from the groom and were great! Their love of what they do is infectious. Everyone - from the 20-somethings to those 60+ loved them and their music. If this sounds like gushing, so be it, but it's just the simple truth.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

      • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
      • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
      • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.
