FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
In general, we charge about $115-$140/per hour for our labor rate, and that will depend if we are fabricating in the shop and delivering, or completing repairs or fabrication on site for the customer. Since we are mobile and do have a small shop, we have to include in our pricing the cost to travel to the customer (if needed) along with a service fee for using a credit card (which can be discounted if services are paid in full by check or cash on the day the service is completed). We usually require 50% down on our projects to get started purchasing materials. A quote from us will include: labor and materials, service charge and travel rate, and any additional supplies needed for completion of the project. Our quotes vary from project to project depending on the scope of the work.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Once a quote is accepted, we will typically make an appointment to speak with the customer by phone, and if need be, a separate appointment to come out to the site for a free estimate. Meeting in person to see the repair and where the install needs to happen is very common so that we know exactly where the project needs to take place and what materials are needed for the job. Communication then follows depending on the job with follow-up calls, photos, messages, sketches, plans or diagrams, and possibly CAD drawings to make sure the customer is on board with the design or scope of the project if needed, or if blueprints, sketches and/or diagrams are not provided for Hurd Contracting and Fabrication.
