John is a professional and we relied on him to translate a difficult laundry list of design criteria into a flow of designs and illustrations that did exactly what we needed to have done. He was a very strong link in the communications chain for this international, culturally sensitive assignment. He was always there when needed, he produced exactly what we needed and he was never sick at sea.

John was amazing to work with! He was very responsive, asked all of the right questions, and created an awesome design for my company's launch party. John offered multiple rounds of revisions/feedback, but John's work was so great and he listened so well to what we wanted that even my picky boss had no critiques! I highly recommend working with him!

John was excellent at his ability to capture the spirit of the puppy in his portraiture for us! We are so thrilled with the results and highly recommend him for any commissions.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

If you have a budget and let me know, I can work to your budget within reason. We all need to get paid for the work we do as well as the skill involved.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

When working with a new customers, I like to have a conversation about what they need and expect. I want to make sure we are on the same page. We work out a fee and I ask for one third down payment. After a downpayment I will create the agreed upon number of sketches, usually one to three. The client picks a sketch and gives any further direction. I begin the final work. Once the work is partially done, I show the progress of work and allow for input from the client. Once the progress is accepted by the client, they pay the second third. When the piece is done I provide a low resolution image and final payment made. After final payment the files or final work is provided to the client.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Graduated from the University of Michigan School of Art. I received a BFA in Scientific Illustration and Sculpture. I have worked in computer graphics and on my own painting since graduating in 1998.
