I am very please with the work of JM Construction. Prior to the job, Eduardo, explained the entire process to my wife and myself. We were showed examples of the products that would be used and any questions we had were answered during this process. The workmen were very professional and efficient in doing the work. Photos were taken of the work as it proceeded and given to us and we were asked if we had any questions during the roofing job. The workmen did an excellent job and completely removed any debit after the job was completed. Eduardo was very courtesy before, during, and after the job. Prior to leaving he gave us his warranty and told us to contact him if we had any problems in the future. I would highly recommend JM Construction (Eduardo Correa) for any roofing job.

I needed a relatively low-cost roof repair that two other roofers rejected (they offered full replacement only). Singleton inspected and repaired the same day I called them, then emailed a bill to me. The total cost was a small fraction of a full roof replacement. The whole experience was simple, easy, and fast. Highly recommended.

James (Alan) is an absolutely masterful professional, the work was completed all within one day, over a period of a few hours. We had many projects from electrical, to plumbing, and although I did not have the correct materials, James helped me through the process and we were able to get the projects done. He stopped and started the clock only when work was being done, and he worked quickly. About 1 hour had passed and we had worked through all of the electrical issues, plumbing was somewhat more involved, but it was done quickly as well. Will definitely recommend, and plan on using him again in the future. $55 an hour is an absolute value, and James (Alan) is worth more than that

They installed flooring and painted the entire interior. The workers on both the flooring and painting were awesome on their professionalism, work ethic and ability. There was an unforeseen issue under the carpet that caused the workers to have to scrap slightly more than half the floor in the house. We were visited by Chris from the office and he informed me I would be charged 50 cents a square foot. I was charged for much more square footage than was scrapped. About 300 dollars more. I did not give the flooring guys a tip because of the greediness of the boss. That was the only time they visited the project. The painting people made one small mistake and forgot to paint a door frame and a window frame but I will take care of that.

Patrick has done two projects for our family. The first was to re-tile two bath/shower walls when we noticed water bubbling out the sides in both of our bathrooms. He was thorough, confident, knowledgeable, and amazing to work with. With three pets and a child, our home can be sort of a zoo at times. Patrick was a pleasure to have working in our house. He is considerate, friendly, neat, and does wonderful work. We just asked him back to build built-ins in our living room, which he tackled quickly and his work surpassed our expectations! The bookshelves look like they have always been in this 1940 house. We feel very lucky to have found him, have referred him to several friends, and will assuredly use him for any upcoming projects.

My wife and I had purchased a investment property that needed a complete remodel. At the time we had decided to use Matt and Amaerican Made. During this process Matt has been a huge help in deciding many ideas on how we wanted to improve this remodel. Matt has proven to be very reliable, understanding and fair with the continuous changes that we have made throughout this process. Matt was able to be very competive with other bids and was able to do everything from rough framing and finish work as well as installing tile and stone. We are coming to the completion of this job and Matt has continued to make sure we have been happy with all the work that has been done. Matt has even went back and made some adjustments to things that were found to be in need of fine detail. We would recommend Matt for any projects. Thank you Matt and American Made for doing such a good job.

I was very pleased with Mr. Fix It! Chris Craddock and his team were professional, reasonably priced and did a great job. I hired Mr. Craddock to redo my daughter's master shower due to a leak in the shower liner from a flipped house disaster. They came in, tore everything out a put a beautiful new tile shower in. The crew was on time and super nice. They were very knowledgeable and had my best interest as a homeowner in mind. I hired them again to replace the laminate flooring in the basement in this same house and it is beautiful. I would choose Mr. Fix It again for sure!

Steve and his crew did a fantastic thorough job replacing old fascia board, soffit and fixing a mess left by a previous contractor (roofer). The house is sealed tight with a professional paint job around the perimeter. I am grateful to have found Steve and appreciate his hard work; he is the most efficient worker that I've hired and really understands the job at hand. No shoddy work by the Straight-up Home Improvement crew--I would trust them with any job, and Steve is a down to earth and honest man. Thanks!!!!!

Jim and his crew did a major renovation on our home. They moved walls, replaced concrete patios, replaced all windows and 2 sliding doors, installed a French door, installed all new wood flooring, painted the inside and outside of the house, replaced a patio cover, and renovated 2 bathrooms (including a new tub in one and new tiled shower enclosure in the other). The work was well done, was completed in the time that was agreed upon and any issues (all minor and very few) were dealt with quickly and completely. Jim is very easy to work with and his grasp of what we were looking for and ability to get there is awesome. JWB is the first contractor we will call for any other work we need done.

Jon has done two major jobs for us. He constructed a screened porch and enlarged our deck. He made tthe plans and did the construction himself. The porch is in the picture above and as you can see the roof line blends into the main house making it look like the porch was always there. Jon did the electrical also. The other job was remodeling our master bath. He took part in the planning to reconfigure the footprint of the bath. He removed the shower and replaced it with a toilet, then made a 10 x4 shower on the opposite wall. Jon did the plumbing, electrical, and walls. He also brought in others to do tiling.

Russ did an outstanding job installing a new tile floor in our hall bathroom. The job involved demoing the old tile floor, installing the new floor, and resetting the toilet. The job was completed in a day with minimal disruption and at a very fair price. We highly recommend Ruckman Renovations and would not hesitate to call on Russ again for another quality renovation job. Russ is a skilled professional who gives great customer service!

He was easy to work with. The inspection was quick and thorough. His honesty was refreshing and he told us how much more life we had on the roof and gave us a turn key estimate on entire roof replacement and and also an estimate on just repairs. He did not push us to make a decision. We decided to go with him and do the entire roof.

Terry performed a thorough roof inspection and was able to find and repair leaks on the roof that two other contractors could not repair. He took photos of all the trouble areas and identified hail damage that warranted filing a claim with our home owners insurance. Terry met with the insurance inspector and secured approval to replace the roof and the substantial ceiling damage inside. Terry upgraded us to top quality architectural shingles with a lifetime warranty. His crew completed the job in one day and cleaned up everything including cleaning my gutters. They blew off our deck and driveway. The entire experience was professionally handled from start to finish. Terry also was able to save us a significant amount on new gutters to compliment the great looking roof. I highly recommend Terry’s expertise to anyone that has roofing concerns. He is very personable and committed to provide the highest level of service.

Excellent company that helped me win an insurance claim against Allstate who fraudulently denied us when the Hail storm damaged our Roof. All of our neighbors had roofs replaced and we dealt with several contractors who made promises but seemed to know nothing about insurance claims. What a maze of bullcrap I had to wade thru dealing with Allstate I am grateful R2R took over and negotiated on my behalf the process took about 8 weeks because Allstate kept delaying things from progressing with stall tactics by not answering calls or reviewing estimates with damage photos my contractor and I sent in several times. I am glad I had Room 2 Roof in my corner I definitely wouldnt want their job. my home looks incredible now.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

      • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

      • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
        • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
      • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
      • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
      • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
      • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
      • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
