If you have any roofing needs whatsoever you have to go with Singleton, if there were 10 stars that's what they would get. Excellent customer service, talked to them yesterday, job is complete by lunch today. That type customer service doesn't exist anymore, but Singleton provided just that. Please don't make a mistake and use any other company for your roofing needs.

I asked L M LLC Construction for an estimate on replacing the foundation timbers surrounding a cement floored covered porch and repairing a crack in the cement floor in a house I own in Winston Salem,N.C. Patrick Laheen replaced timbers with cement underpinning, repaired the crack and painted porch with cement paint. He did such an outstanding job, I then asked him to do some repair work on my home in Bermuda Run, N.C. He did a beautiful job there and completed it on time and on budget. He paid attention to detail. I would highly recommend him.

After getting several vague inquiries and 'quotes' from others on Thumbtack which were immediately moved into the metaphorical rubbish bin, my wife and I narrowed our choices down to two local companies: PBC, LLC, and a competitor not listed on Thumbtack. Stan and Bill set up a time promptly to assess our roof, and gasp, actually took the time to get a ladder, climb to the a part where the pitch wasn't steep, take photos of visible damage, etc. (trust me when I say that some roofing companies will try to just point out the damage from the ground level without lifting a finger). During their visit, they had a folder prepared with line item quotes, aerial views, general information about the stuff needed, etc. which struck me as being, well, quite organized. The overall quote from PBC was just ever slightly better than the competitor (the competitor had a similarly organized proposal), so we chose PBC, LLC. Communication with Stan and Bill (mainly Stan) was clear and concise from Day 1. When he said, "Someone's dropping off the roofing materials on [x] day by [y] time," that happened. When he said, "The roofers are starting work on [x] day by [y] time", it happened. Start to finish, our roofing project of approximately 20 squares took 3.5 working days: first day was tear-off, 2nd and 3rd day were install/repair, and half a day more of debris removal. Speaking of debris removal, I'd have to go outside right now and specifically look for any errant shingles, nails, or other materials. The crew/Stan/Bill probably got 99.999999 percent of everything, which is greatly appreciated since our dogs enjoy running about in the yard. We also had them do 2 handyman'ish jobs - removing a large piece of tempered glass from a previous owner, and fixing our chimney sweep-out door. Both were done in a timely and clean manner. Really happy with the way our roof looks, and thanks again for the fantastic overall service!

I got Matt Dillon's name from an old and trusted friend who had done my carpentry work for 30 years. A sudden violent wind storm tore holes in my barn roof and loosened metal roofs on 4 more buildings, 2 of which I didn't even know were damaged until Matt pointed them out. Matt kept in contact with me after I called and even came out earlier than promised. Their work was professional and done quickly. Their services were very reasonable. I was so impressed by them that I gave their card to my daughter. I would unhesitantly recommend them to anyone else as well. I plan on having them do all my work in the future. Tom Keith

Jim and his crew did a major renovation on our home. They moved walls, replaced concrete patios, replaced all windows and 2 sliding doors, installed a French door, installed all new wood flooring, painted the inside and outside of the house, replaced a patio cover, and renovated 2 bathrooms (including a new tub in one and new tiled shower enclosure in the other). The work was well done, was completed in the time that was agreed upon and any issues (all minor and very few) were dealt with quickly and completely. Jim is very easy to work with and his grasp of what we were looking for and ability to get there is awesome. JWB is the first contractor we will call for any other work we need done.

Roofing job was handled with professionalism and expertise. It was done in the estimated time and the costs were in line with the estimate, which was good also. I had some minor damage that was also repaired by Luis and he sent me pics of it before and after which I really appreciated. I really appreciated the cleanup afterwards also. You couldn't tell that the crew had been here. Definitely will use this company for future jobs if necessary and highly recommend him for your jobs.

1) Opened up wall between living room & family room, installed header for support. Case trim opening, repair drywall and paint. 2) I provided a photo of an open staircase that I wanted which opened up stairwell on both sides, framed opening with columns at the bottom. They included all demo, framing, LVL load bearing beams, drywall, painting, trim, decorative spindles, and custom stained handrail. 3) Frame closed my open foyer, drywall, sub-floor, redo ceiling, install light fixtures. Estimated timeline was met. Dan kept me well informed on progress. I received multiple estimates for this project. So happy I chose Dan Wagner with On-Target Construction. I Highly recommend.

He was easy to work with. The inspection was quick and thorough. His honesty was refreshing and he told us how much more life we had on the roof and gave us a turn key estimate on entire roof replacement and and also an estimate on just repairs. He did not push us to make a decision. We decided to go with him and do the entire roof.

Terry performed a thorough roof inspection and was able to find and repair leaks on the roof that two other contractors could not repair. He took photos of all the trouble areas and identified hail damage that warranted filing a claim with our home owners insurance. Terry met with the insurance inspector and secured approval to replace the roof and the substantial ceiling damage inside. Terry upgraded us to top quality architectural shingles with a lifetime warranty. His crew completed the job in one day and cleaned up everything including cleaning my gutters. They blew off our deck and driveway. The entire experience was professionally handled from start to finish. Terry also was able to save us a significant amount on new gutters to compliment the great looking roof. I highly recommend Terry’s expertise to anyone that has roofing concerns. He is very personable and committed to provide the highest level of service.

Excellent company that helped me win an insurance claim against Allstate who fraudulently denied us when the Hail storm damaged our Roof. All of our neighbors had roofs replaced and we dealt with several contractors who made promises but seemed to know nothing about insurance claims. What a maze of bullcrap I had to wade thru dealing with Allstate I am grateful R2R took over and negotiated on my behalf the process took about 8 weeks because Allstate kept delaying things from progressing with stall tactics by not answering calls or reviewing estimates with damage photos my contractor and I sent in several times. I am glad I had Room 2 Roof in my corner I definitely wouldnt want their job. my home looks incredible now.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

      • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

      • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
        • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
      • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
      • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
      • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
      • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
      • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
