I'm so lucky to have come to know Zacki. She is an awesome teacher! I'm a traditional Chinese who loves to cook but never got the chance to be trained. Zacki is very understanding of my situation and she accepted me despite my lack of experience. She expands my knowledge of cooking, tutors me patiently, and provides a wonderful environment to learn. I learn new dishes every time we meet. She taught me the value of presentation and how to be a good caterer. I'm very thankful and she definitely is one of the loveliest people i've ever met! With her help, i hope i can provide high-quality service to all of her future clients.

An Event to Remember is the best caterer we have ever had. Communication before and during the event was excellent. The Cowboy Action Shooters are big eaters after a tiring day. Terri and her group provided very good quality food, with a good variety. We had 150 attending the Banquet with generous portions and plenty left over for seconds. With so many compliments, we have her on schedule for next year's event.

Benny (and the whole I Am Catering crew) were so fabulous! When I got engaged, one of the people I was most worried about finding was a good caterer. After going to multiple places, my now husband and I chose Benny to cater our event. EVERYONE who came to our wedding commented on how delicious the food was - they still do, even though our wedding was a month ago. Benny was really accessible the whole time, and everyone who worked with him was amazing! One thing I really appreciated about Benny was the fact that he let us shape our own menu (unlike other places where they moreso dictate what you will have), but made suggestions if my husband and I were stuck on a good pairing for a dish. I am most definitely planning on using Benny again in the future and I have already suggested him to people - in fact people at the wedding were asking me for his contact information. I can assure you that with him as your caterer the food will be delicious, the drinks at the bar will be fabulous, and you won't have to worry about catering issues at all the day of your event!!

From the time that I contacted Reto's to the actual catering event, everything was great! Our company had an employee outing and we have many different eating types: vegans, vegetarians, and gluten-free. So Reto's recommended to us the Fajita Buffet. It was wonderful!!! Not only did it cover all of the different types of eating habits, but there was plenty of food for all with leftovers to take home. I highly recommend them!!! Thank you Reto's for a wonderful job! We will be contacting you again.....

Maggie was an incredible caterer to work with! I'm so glad she reached out to me. My husband and I are vegan, so it was important to us to find a caterer that could create tasty, plant-based food for our wedding. Maggie was able to craft a menu with dishes from around the world and we received a ton of compliments during dinner from our guests on the food. From grandparents, to fellow vegans, the food was a hit! She and her team exceeded my expectations and helped make our wedding a night to remember :) Thank you Chef Maggie!

I had a good experience working with you, and my guests enjoyed the meal and interacting with you. You were very responsive in working with me to develop the menu, and were very punctual. I would use you again and can recommend you to others. On the constructive criticism front, I would suggest providing a little more detail about the menu items, and providing early confirmation on the event date that things are on track, etc. I don't use catering services often, so I don't know what the typical practices are. However, in my business life, I am accustomed to receiving (and giving) such specifics and confirmations so that my clients don't have to make assumptions or otherwise wonder where things stand. That said, I want to reiterate that I had a good experience, and I thank you for your service.

Taste catering catered my daughter's 13th birthday party. She was professional, on time and most importantly the food she cooked was amazing. My daughter is a vegetarian and she wanted a movie themed party. Taste catering met her wants from the decorations all the way to the tuxedo dressed gourmet veggie dogs and assortment of chocolate drizzled popcorn. All the teens were satisfied and happy. I will definitely use Taste Catering again and highly recommend it to all my friends.

The food was delicious! Everyone loved the BBQ pork. It was probably the best I'd ever had. We ate the little bit that was left over as soon as we got home.

About

My service stands out from any other food and drink host/chef because cooking has all I have done my whole life; making everything from scratch and homemade. I never use a recipe and everything comes from the heart as well as based on what the customer needs and desires. Eating and drinking is about being happy and tasting deliciousness; the palette needs to be properly tended too or people believe that fast food and sugar is a way of life. I have never had anyone disappointed with anything I do or make; I am opening my own five star restaurant within the next year and a half and would be beyond honored to help you with whatever it is that you may need when it comes to food and drinks. Just ask me a question and I am here for you.

About

I have been cooking for close to ten years. I have cooked in many different restaurants as well as graduated from culinary school. I can cook multiple cuisines and look to try new cuisines when available. I also have some experience baking cakes, pastries, and other desserts.

About

I bake and sale cakes for individuals who need a cake or other desserts for different occasions such as holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, etc. or if the individual just has a sweet tooth. I also am branching out to catering small events, and in home personal chef catering for cakes and meals for all dietary needs.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a caterer?

Catering prices depend mainly on how fancy you want the food and service to be and how many guests you’ll have. When you’re first looking to hire a caterer for your event, consider how many guests you’ll have and your total food and drink budget. The national average for event catering is $340, but catering prices can range into the thousands depending on your menu, guest count, and service.

Event catering is a broad term that covers everything from fully prepared, ready-to-eat food that the hosts plate and serve themselves to full-service, multicourse meals, including rental of linens, glassware and other items, with service staff organized by the catering company. Usually a caterer will determine cost based on the type of event you’re having, how many guests will attend, the level of service you desire, and what type of menu you’d like to have. For example, if you have a set catering budget, say $1,500, and you plan to have 50 people attend, that means you have $30 per person for food. If you have the same budget with 100 people, you have $15 per person for food. In this way, the number of people you want to attend your event and the level of food you want to serve them determines how much catering will cost.

How much should catering cost per person?

Catering prices can range from about $10 per guest on the low end to $150 or more per person on the high end. Catering costs represent the quality of food, presentation, variety, ingredients and service. But catering prices are more than the cost to cook the food that will be at your party; they also include the cost for the company to do business. Here is a simple breakdown of catering prices:

  • Menu: The food you serve your guests will directly affect the price per person. Organic ingredients, complex recipes, elaborate presentations, or high-ticket items like lobster or filet mignon all add to the cost.
  • Service: Buffet, family style, plated dinners — how you serve the food affects the cost per person. For example, a true plated meal can cost about twice the price of a staff-assisted buffet because of staffing costs. Hiring waiters, bartenders and cleanup crew will all be calculated into the per-person catering price.
  • Drinks: Providing beverages and alcoholic drinks for guests greatly increases your catering budget. Hosting an open bar can cost as much per person as the meal.
  • Rentals: Seating, plates, glassware, etc., will all have an effect on the cost per person for catering. For example, a plastic conference table that seats 10 costs about $6 to rent on average, while a wooden farmhouse table is about $80 to rent on average.
  • Business costs: Any catering cost will also include the cost for the company to do business such as insurance, employee wages, commercial kitchen space and more.
