Introduction: I want to give you time back in your day by providing meals that are easy to heat up, healthy and delicious. I grew up with most of my best memories taking place in the kitchen. From learning to bake with my Easy Bake Oven, to eventually catering weddings and private parties, my passion has always been food. I’ve traveled all over Europe, Mexico, Costa Rica, Belize, and North America and enjoy sharing my travel experiences through the food I prepare. I am trained in cooking for a variety of dietary needs including, but not limited to, diabetic, heart healthy, low cholesterol, low fat, and vegetarian/vegan. I also have a toddler and understand picky kids and aim to help your family thrive with no-stress meals. I believe in cooking with local, organic, and sustainable ingredients whenever possible, however I tailor my menus to the clients dietary and budget requirements. Sweet Melissa’s seemed an apt name for my business given that the name “Melissa” means honeybee. Not only do I work like a busy bee, I thrive from sharing the fruits of my labor with my family, friends, and community.

I hired Melissa to cook a private dinner for six in honor of my parent’s anniversary. From our first communication, Melissa was responsive and easy to talk to. She shared with us her seasonal menu of items to choose from and we made a couple tweaks to suit our tastes. On the night of the event, Melissa showed up on time and ready to begin preparing the meal. Every course was delicious and just as described. At the end of the evening, Melissa left following dessert. Later in the evening I went into my kitchen thinking I would have dishes to clean up and it was spotless with all dishes cleaned in the drying rack. I would highly recommend Melissa!

Melissa is an INCREDIBLE chef who makes delicious and healthy high quality food. She is professional, easy to work with, always on time, and has creative ideas/ways to present the food. I have worked with her several times from small private dinner parties to larger 50+ people events, plus weekly meals. I'm always impressed and delighted by her food. It's SO good! Hire her!!! Sweet Melissa provided delicious and nutritious meals to our family for close to 2 years, during which we came to find her service indispensable. Her meals were beautifully prepared, healthy, and very thoughtful in terms of variety and newness. If you're looking for nutritious, home cooked meals that are just as delicious -- and feel like a treat -- as restaurant food, then Melissa is your chef. We would've loved to continue working with her, and were sad when she decided to relocate to another city. Melissa herself is also a joy to work with: easy going, flexible, and very responsive. I was pregnant while she was cooking for us, and she adapted her menus taking into account what pregnant women could and couldn't eat. When I had my baby, her food nourished me through my postpartum period. Then when my daughter began eating solids, she even modified a portion of her food to make it suitable for babies, and my daughter has since become a happy and confident eater, largely thanks to her! Melissa's food nourished our whole family thoroughly these years, and we're so grateful for that!

Pricing depends on your specific needs, so I customize pricing on a client by client basis. I am offering a trial meal for half price for new customers. Please email me for questions.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I do an intake with new customers, ask them about any allergies/dietary restrictions, and I also want to get to know food preferences and any food specific goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated top of my class from the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco and have been working as a personal chef and caterer for 15 years.
