I am very pleased with John and his crew for the beautiful painting in our home. He painted the entire interior of our 3500SF home- all walls and ceilings in all rooms. His price was very reasonable and the quality of work is top notch! They clean up after each evening. He worked around our schedule and was willing to come early or stay late. We have 4 dogs and that wasn't a problem for them. I will tell everyone I know who needs a painter about John Montes.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Jonathon and Salazar Express Service. They did an excellent job painting our house. Jonathon and his team were professional and personable. He checked in with us throughout the process to keep us updated on progress and get any feedback. They were finished ahead of time and the work was outstanding. He made sure we were pleased with the work before paying . We were so impressed with his efficiency and quality of his work that we have already hired him for a second project on our house. I would highly recommend Salazar Express.

I am overjoyed with the completed project of my interior painting from Celestrial Painting! They were on time for my quote, quick and professional. I recieved a pdf email of the quotw within an hour of the appointment. Edwin was very efficient, he met me at the paint store to help me pick out the correct type of paint. He helped me make sure i didnt over spend, we bought more paint as needed. He finished the job in (2) days which was amazing as i had my entire home painted. I will refer them over and over again! I am thoroughly impressed!!! Satisfied customer for sure.

I had Alexander and his crew scraped the popcorn off 1800 sqft of ceiling, then they mudded, primed and painted it. They also taped, mudded, and primed 50 sheets of drywall that I put up after removing and adding walls in my house. They did a great job! They gave a reasonable price, showed up everyday on time, and finished on schedule. I would definatly use them again.

I enjoyed meeting the sole proprietor JW, and I look forward in working more with him as We learn each other ways... Why he didn’t receive 5-Stars yet is bc of the left over WEEDS, all around My house & especially in the My front rock landscape area. Also after cutting the grass Always Blow off the grass clippings off/away from the tree base where We had just laid fresh black mulch, which is now green There are scrubs trimming still left as well...but just Maybe my request was not as clear as I intended so I will suffer this time. In All things...Thx

Mr. Luna and his staff could not have provided me a better experience when painting my house. He spent 2 to 3 days priming the house and 2 to 3 days painting. I was extremely pleased with the results and plan to use him again for painting the inside of my house. He was reliable and always on time, as well as easy to contact when I needed him. I cannot say enough good things about Mr. Luna and his painters!

Greg painted my large foyer area and ceiling, which both needed a lot of attention due to a roof leak and neglect from previous owners/renters. Communication was great throughout the process, as Greg was quick to answer questions and thorough in his explanations. He also recommended and gave advice on paint colors, types, and finishes. I initially planned to go with a solid neutral white throughout the house, but I ultimately decided on three shades of gray in the foyer (including a dark gray accent wall). I'm very happy with the color combination. There were a couple of significant miscommunications about the layout of the colors and what was to be included and what wasn't (i.e., trim painting), but we were able to settle and clear those up amicably. Pros: The ceiling looks great and Greg did not make a mess on any the fixtures, smoke alarms, etc. He was careful to tape everything, remove light switch and outlet plates, and use appropriate prep materials to hide/seal the previous leak. I'm extremely happy with the ceiling. There are also no significant paint splatters or issues with the paint getting onto things it shouldn't have, even with multiple colors next to each other. Cons: I wish I had known to clean the baseboards and walls (maybe with TSP) and then to spackle a couple of spots. I assumed those would be handled, but I didn't ask, which was my error. There are a couple of spots where spackle would've worked nicely, so I do wish there was a bit more prep work with sanding and filling. Secondly, there was an area of the house where the walls were in poorer condition, so there are visible lines that look almost like two slightly different colors (a few bands of slightly different colors). It wouldn't be as noticeable if it wasn't where the light comes in the front door area. Greg came out after the initial completion and attempted to touch up blend the area, but it could've likely just used another coat of paint on the entire wall rather than a blending because it's as noticeable (or even more noticeable) than before. I realize my walls were in very bad shape and low luster paint shows more imperfections, so it's a huge improvement and I'm happy with the results. I may later hire have another coat done to the foyer area later on just to perfect it. Just a few things to be mindful of in the future. Regardless, I plan to hire Greg again for other rooms, as my budget and reno plans permit. He did a great job overall. Thanks!

If I could give this company 6 stars I would. They were here at 8 am (as promised) and got right to work. Besides the fact that they did a phenomenal job painting my house, they also fix holes and scrapes that I didn't even ask for. His team was courteous and left my home in impeccable condition! Thank you guys so much. I will be hiring them to complete another project and my next home. If you are a looking for painters that priced extremely reasonable for beyond excellent work..look no further.

Over the past 10 years I have used Doug Leduc, owner of Holy Rollers Paint, on various painting and staining projects on my center hall colonial. These Projects have varied both inside as well as outside and always with an expert eye for details. Doug works with his sons and all have displayed the same excellent work ethic. Projects have been completed on time and budget. On a few of the projects, as the case with any old house, some issues have been uncovered by the Holy Roller Team. We have discussed prior to any additional work to correct such issues and have always been able to come to a mutual agreement as to how to best address said issues. Additionally, my neighbors have been so please with Doug and Sons workmanship that they too have hired the Team for their painting need as well. I would highly recommend Doug and his expert Team on any painting requirements that you might have. The below picture is of my house after whole house painting and pergola staining. Looks excellent!! They were very responsive and very proffessional. They treated my house with care. They also were very reasonably priced of all the painters I talked to. The job they did was great with the exception of a few light spots. Overall I was pleased with their work.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
