We hired Rich to do our engagement photos and had an absolutely wonderful expirence!! He made everything very comfortable for my fiancé and I which neither of us have ever done any type of photo shoot like this before so we were both a little nervous but the end results were amazing! We are very much looking forward to having Rich be the photographer for our wedding next summer!

Very helpful with suggestions & ideas during the pre-wedding meetings & very easy to work with. She provides so much at such a reasonable price.

Our wedding was PERFECT. The pictures are AMAZING! Delora has an eye for the perfect picture. The photo booth is superior to any I have ever seen with lots of little extras! You would be missing out if you don’t hire Delora to photograph your wedding! It was the best day of my life and we can relive it through her fantastic photos.

We had a wonderful experience having Rev. George Blackmore officiate our destination wedding at the outer banks. One thing that really set him apart was his fun personality. He was very organized yet very refreshing to be around. He kept the service meaningful yet light. We are so thankful that he could be apart of our wedding & we would both highly recommend him!

Rachel Rodgers is simply an amazing makeup artist. I was recently in Charlotte NC to attend a wedding and desired an artist that could capture my beauty. I sat in her chair and my face became her canvas. A professional artist she is indeed. I looked and felt beautiful all day

We were very pleased with the photo booth we rented for our daughter's wedding. The guests enjoyed it and were able to take home their photos, and we received a flash drive of all the photos taken to enjoy for years to come. The set up was perfect. Thank You to Huskey AMA for helping make my daughter's wedding all she could have dreamed!!

I had the best experience with Kingdom Entertainment!!! They did a slide show for my wedding and they did a video of the entire wedding and reception. The work and products both were phenomenal and we are so pleased!!! They were able to capture all our special moments, they interviewed our guests, they live-streamed our wedding so my husband's family could see the wedding live in Ghana, and they created a finished product that we will forever treasure. The package we chose was well-worth the money and I am so pleased with all we received for the money we spent. It was very reasonably priced and I am so glad that we chose Kingdom Entertainment as our videographers!!! I highly recommend them to anyone and I will definitely use them again in the future!!! If I could give ten plus stars, I would!!! Great job!!!!

Jeremy and Katy filmed our wedding this past October. We were absolutely thrilled with the results. Fantastic quality of filmography and editing! From day one they were great with communication, and also took time to get to know us and find out exactly what end result we were wanting. Their presence at the wedding was great, they blended in perfectly and added a very positive spirit to the day. They handled every situation very professionally and with high integrity. I would highly recommend them to anyone. Thank you again, Jeremy and Katy!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.
