Lawn Mower Repair
It took them 3 months to get a rebuilt engine on a John Deere riding mower not to work!! They took my payment of 465$ and got all kinds of excuses and lies not to get my mower repaired, if fact I have to haul my riding mower from their location not fixed and not driving, they have stopped communicating or updating me and had my mower covered with a tarp in their back yard, not a legitimate business or pros that know what they are doing, check them out before sending them ur mower or money.Aug 25, 2019VerifiedMowtown's reply
Lou, let's state some facts here... 1. The 3 months you're claiming it took us to fix your mower is false. We received your mower June 1st along with your estimate fee. After we had a chance to realize that you had in fact blown up your engine, after you told us you had changed the oil, we decided that we really did want to help you keep your mower, thus is when I told you about replacing the engine. Then it took me from June 1st until July 14 until you finally paid us the money you had already agreed upon. 2.I never stopped communicating with you, but when you call me repeatedly with threatening messages, I'm sorry dear sir... But no one is going to speak to me like that, especially when I've been very reachable at any given moment, and had kept you updated. Then my work truck broke down, and the head gasket we replaced your new engine with didn't seal properly. We weren't going to bring you a mower that was broke, thus is why I texted you on Monday morning and sent you video and pictures of your mower. You had our address this entire time, yet chose to not do anything until today when we were literally hours away from finishing it. I don't appreciate the way you came on to my property and talking to Greg's grandmother all hateful like. I have never been rude, or snide, or anything other than nice. As well as, fyi any of our customers know what we have as working space. Is it fair to judge two people who are trying to make a living and helping people out with their mowers? NO ONE told you to take your mower, you chose to do that on your own. I think it would be different if we forced you to take it before we completed it, but it was you who came on our property threatening us and taking your mower by force. In the end, I truly hate that your mower wasn't completed. And, it definitely is a learning experience, I guess we need to be a bit cautious with who we agree to work with from now on.

Mowtown was very responsive. They kept me up to date with text messages. Turnaround time for the repair and general maintenance was very good. I feel very comfortable recommending them.Jul 4, 2019VerifiedMowtown's reply

After poor communication was finally told couldn’t do the work for 2-3 weeks this all after was told several times my repair would be done. Do not recommend at all.Jul 28, 2019VerifiedMowtown's reply
Charles, I truly hate that you feel this way. Especially when we went back and forth with a time and you specifically said that it was no big rush and that you were good for another couple of weeks, because you had just mowed. The thing is that you were out of our range for pick up and delivery. That's why you even said that you were kinda far for us. Yet, we were still going to come to you and service your mower, and we're not mobile mechanics.

Mowtown did a phenomenal job! Honestly the work quality of the mow job was the best I’ve seen in a very long time. I’ve scheduled monthly lawn care with Mowtown going forward and I couldn’t be more happy with my decision. Thank you, Mowtown!Oct 17, 2019VerifiedMowtown's reply
Thank you so much for your kind words and business!
Greg was great to work with. I love the fact that they came to my house for pick up, it was very convenient my busy schedule. I also had him do some extra work and he exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend mowtown to anyone who needs small engine repair.Jun 1, 2019Mowtown's reply
Thank you so much for your kind words and your business. We are always happy to help!!!
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? We do require a deposit of $45 that's collected at pickup or drop off. All of our prices are inclusive to parts and labor. We like being able to offer the cheapest prices in town, because we're not trying to break the bank with our customers, we're just trying to make a living and pass along our savings to our customers. We honor a military discount. As well as, we always have seasonal specials that can be found on our Google page. We also offer a 5% discount to anyone that prepays for services at the time of booking their appointment or upon approval of estimate prepared and emailed by Star. Once we have sent an estimate or an invoice, after 15 days and a decision or remittance has not been made, there will be a storage fee applied at a compounded rate for up to 60 days and on the 61st day the equipment in question will be assumed abandoned and thus will rightfully become property of Mowtown Small Engines to dispose of.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? We will either come get your equipment or you can bring it to us. We always like to meet who we're working with and know people on a first name basis. Star will contact you as soon as Greg evaluates your equipment and gives her an estimate, we ALWAYS will ask for your approval before we begin our work.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Greg is basically self taught along with his work experience in this field. And has earned continued education credits with Briggs and Stratton.
