Jose and I met last Friday in the afternoon about refinishing my deck, and pressure washing my fence/driveway. Jose was prompt, and got straight to the point when we first met. His pricing was reasonable, and it sounded like he could get the job done efficiently and effectively. He came back on Monday to pressure wash the driveway/fence, as well as the deck. I came home, and was amazed. My driveway and fence both looked like new!! He also repaired the loose boards for me without even thinking to charge me extra. Fast forward to 2 days later, and he was refinishing my deck. He selected a red finish that matched perfectly with the brick on the side of my house. The final product looks amazing, and the deck looks brand new. He replaced old boards, and went out of his way to make sure it was perfect. I would highly recommend Jose, and will be using him for additional projects in the near future. Thanks Jose!!! You rock.

I had Nick come to my house to pressure wash and stain my 6 foot shadowbox fence. This was a large fence and Nick took hist time to make sure it got done right. While he was painting we chatted a bit and he ended up teaching me a couple things. Additionally, he made me aware of some mildew growing on my vinyl siding which I wasn't aware of, for which I was very thankful. I'll definitely reach out to him for any future projects I have.

I am new to this state having just moved from CT. I was looking to have my entire house interior painted. Jonathan was the first to respond. He was polite and courteous. He gave me a reasonable price and I hired him. He started within 2 days. His work was excellent and done to my specifications. His crew was efficient and courteous. I was so impressed I hired him for putting up a new fence. Anyone looking for a painting contractor I highly recommend Jonathan Salazar at JS Master Construction!!

We were looking for someone to install a post and 3 rail fence to enclose our yard. Tom replied to my request immediately and returned my follow up call very quickly. He was upfront about our needs and came in with a competitive price. He met with us to review the placement of our fence and the contract. We had a fence within a week of initial contact and 2 days of signing the contract. Tom was efficient and very easy to work with. I have already shared his contact information with 2 neighbors and have confidence he will show the same professionalism to them.

They completed the job in a timely fashion and the price was great. There were a couple areas of the fence that I had concerns with and ask them to come back to fix it. Needless to say that didn't happen. He left gaps in the fence, some fence post weren't completely even and some of the post weren't cut down to height of the fence. He didn't do a terrible job, just not a great one.

Spanky was so friendly and easy to work with! This company seriously cares about customer service and making sure you are happy. Spanky met with us almost immediately after we inquired on Thumbtack. He was honest about what was/wasn't possible given the challenges of our yard and never made us feel like he was up-selling...in fact he talked us out of some unnecessary things we had envisioned for the project (thanks Pinterest). We were on their schedule within 2 weeks of signing the estimate, and the work was done in a day and a half!!! I was unhappy with the 4 foot gate we had purchased, purely because I underestimated the size I thought I would need, not due to the work performed - Spanky was so accommodating on the switch, he gave me a very reasonable price to upgrade and was back on the job within a few days to make the change. Every time we sit out back I can't stop commenting on how wonderful the fence looks and how impressed I am with the quality and value of the work. We have worked with other fence companies in previous homes, and I can promise from experience, these guys stand out from the pack.

We are so happy with our new fence by Plaza Fence. Manny was very prompt to answer the call or returned your call very quickly. The fence was built exactly as we had asked. Manny did make suggestions but did not pressure us if this was something we didn’t want. They did a GREAT job. Sally loves playing in her new fenced yard (see pic). We would definitely use Plaza Fence again or refer others to them. Thanks Manny! 😃🐶

Replaced three large fence sections measuring 7' H X 8' W after removing brush and limbs from the old fence. The new fence sections had to be cut at the bottom to accommodate uneven levels of the ground, yet make them even on the top of the fence. After carefully measuring and planning the job, he was able to expeditiously complete the job to perfection.

Jordan and his team built a custom fence for my back yard as well as architectural trim pieces on my home. They did an amazing job. The end result was great, and he and his team were punctual, professional, and I think his price for the job was fair considering the amount of time and effort they put into it to make it just the way I wanted it. I've referred several people to him already, and will continue to do so.

Jackson did a wonderful job remodleling and repairing our deck. He offered a more than fair price and we were also able to negotiate a fair price for removal of a fence. The project was done at a good pace and ja ckson was always responsive to texts and phone calls about questions. The quality of work was excellent and now we have a repaired deck tk enjoy for many future years.

Steve has done several jobs for me. Probably the most involved was putting up a vinyl fence. His work was excellent- done well and completed on time with no hassle for me. He was here when he said and did what he promised at the price on which we agreed. I would not hesitate to call Steve Morris for any work.

Very pleased with the outcome of the hardscape design. Most importantly flexibility to adjust to changes I wanted while in the middle of the project. I would recommend them to everyone. They’re also installing a fence.

Dan was great! He did a great job installing a doggie door into the wall and went above and beyond what was the initial job by building a platform for my smaller dogs and fixing a few areas in the fence. Will definitely be calling him for future projects.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much is a redwood fence per foot?

A redwood fence is a long-lasting home investment that can add beauty and major curb appeal to your home. Redwood fence installation costs are higher than those for pressure-treated pine or cedar, due to the relative scarcity of the wood. Pricing can vary for redwood fence installation costs based on regional labor rates, current prices of redwood planks, the height and linear feet of the fence, and any custom designs or features. Redwood fences, in addition to being beautiful, are naturally more resistant against bugs and rot than less hardy or dense woods. Redwood fences also generally fare well in wet or humid climates due to their natural oils — which also make them easier to maintain. Materials costs per linear foot for redwood planks can range anywhere from $6 to $20 or more, depending on grade, quality and height.

How much does it cost to put up a chain-link fence?

Chain-link fence is one of the most affordable options for adding safety and value to your home or business. The national average chain-link fence installation cost is $2,750. Chain-link fences are relatively simple for the pros to install; a fence of less than 150 linear feet can often be put up in under one day. A good rule of thumb is to add an additional workday for each additional 100 linear feet of fence to be installed.

Chain-link fence installation costs are affected by the fluctuating cost of steel, regional labor rates, the height of fence you select, and the features you select, such as a powder-coated finish. The industry standard is galvanized steel, which is rust- and corrosion-resistant. Galvanized chain-link fence installation cost, including labor and materials, is typically $12 per linear foot. For a more contemporary and elegant option, black powder-coated galvanized chain-link fence might cost approximately $15 per linear foot on average, including materials and labor. For industrial sites or businesses, 10-foot-high galvanized chain-link fences may provide additional security, but also have an added cost. A 10-foot-high chain-link fence could cost $17-$18 per linear foot, including labor and materials.

How much does it cost to install a vinyl fence?

A new fence can mean added home value, increased curb appeal, and improved home security. The national average vinyl fence installation cost is $4,600. Vinyl fences have a number of appealing qualities such as their durability, their lasting good looks (they don’t weather like wood does), their versatility, and the fact that they require little to no maintenance such as staining. Fencing companies typically charge per linear foot for vinyl fence installation. They calculate their estimates based on materials to be used, height of fence, linear feet of the proposed fence, and the accessibility of the terrain. If the workers need to level the land before work begins, your vinyl fence installation costs will probably increase. Vinyl fences are typically more expensive than wood or chain-link. For example, one company might charge $19-$22 per linear foot for a basic 6-foot vinyl privacy fence. Another company might charge $25-$35 per linear foot for standard vinyl fencing, while decorative fencing with custom detail could increase that cost to $50 per linear foot. For a 6-foot-high white vinyl privacy fence with two walk-through gates (plus demolition and disposal of the old fence), the cost of the total project could run $8,000. A 4-foot-high, 36-linear-foot white picket vinyl fence with one gate could cost $2,600.

How much does it cost to install a wood fence?

Help define your property line, protect your home and yard, and boost your curb appeal with a new wood fence. The national average for wood fence installation cost is $3,250. Wood fence installation costs will vary based on your geographic location, the type of wood you select, the height and style of wood fence you desire, and the condition of your property. Pressure-treated pine is a common and attractive choice that is usually resilient against rot and bugs. Cedar is another budget-friendly option that, although more expensive than pressure-treated pine, can be more affordable than redwood or teak. A wood fence requires maintenance to ensure its long-term health and beauty, so keep future staining and painting costs in mind when you’re calculating fence installation costs. Here are some examples of how height and material affect the approximate cost of wood fences:

    • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $15-$17 per linear foot.
    • 4-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $13-$20 per linear foot.
    • Cedar fence: $18-$25 per linear foot.
    • 6-foot-high, double-sided (meaning both sides are uniform), pressure-treated pine fence with 6x6 posts: $25 per linear foot.
    • 12-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with custom detailing: $75 per linear foot.
    • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with a custom lattice top: $30-$50 per linear foot.

How much does it cost to install a fence gate?

Adding a gate to your fence can be a practical way to provide access to a yard, work area or outdoor living space while ensuring safety and privacy. Gate installation costs will vary based on the gate material you select, the size of your gate, whether you install a fence at the same time, and any special features you’d like to add. Standard opening size for a single-wide gate is 4 feet; a double-wide gate is 8 feet. A small gate may be for decoration; a double-wide gate can be mounted on a rolling caster system to allow access for cars or wide loads. Here are some examples of average fence gate installation costs:

    • 4-foot, single-swing chain-link gate: $100 for materials and installation costs.
    • 28-foot wheeled chain-link gate on a caster system: $800-$1,000 for materials and installation costs.
    • 4-foot, single-swing wood gate: $75.
    • 8-foot double-wide wood gate: $150.
    • 4-foot white vinyl walk-through gate: $300–$400 for materials and installation costs.
    • 8-foot, double-wide white vinyl gate: about $800 for materials and installation costs.
    • White vinyl gate fence more than 8 feet wide: $1,200-$1,500 for materials and installation.
    • Arched black powder-coated aluminum pool gates: $175-$200 per gate.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
