We had gone through hell to get a HVAC specialist out here to fix an issue we had with a damper motor. After I posted my first job, I either had people trying to charge me WAY too much or people just not showing up. Paul beat the pants off all the other quotes I had gotten and despite there being an issue with the damper itself as well, Paul found a way to fix it so that he didn't have to charge me an arm and a leg. I will definitely hire Paul again. You should too.

I really appreciated the overview on the entire HVAC unit condition. No one had ever done that on prior visits and the value of the repair was also exceptional. I highly recommend!

Aurora was wonderful to work with; JT is knowledgeable, timely, a reasonable price, and incredibly polite and professional. He came to service our HVAC, as well as inspect a leak in the attic. On top of that, he changed out the air filters and offered advice on a roofing issue. I'd highly recommend him to anyone looking for an honest and quick mechanic.

Steve Moore Heating and Cooling is highly recommended by me after my experience. I needed two WiFi thermostats installed. They contacted me almost immediately on thumbtack and had a more competitive rate than any other company. Taylor was my technician. He was prompt and knowledgeable and got the job done much quicker than expected. Very good company. Will be using them for future HVAC needs. Nothing beats fair and honest pricing for high quality work!

Sheldon worked very hard to get our pool to where it should be.. The water is now crystal clear we can see down to the bottom of the deep end.. After everything was finished and he was paid he still came back to check the pool twice to make sure we were happy. We will definitely call him if we need help again.

Hands down the best HVAC company around. I have dealt with many contractors through my business and owning rental properties over the years and have never had professional service like I did with Glenn and the Evergreen Team. If you want the job done right by a company you can trust definitely go with Evergreen.

I filled out a request online to be matched with HVAC contractors and Jeff with Air Source was one of the companies I was matched with. I had a couple of other guys come out to give me a quote on replacing my evaporator coil and almost told Jeff not to bother coming. He offered to meet me at my house on Saturday afternoon and boy am I glad I had him come by. He crawled up under the house and took a very detailed look at what I was dealing with. He was honest, straight forward and didn't try to upsell me on anything. He gave me a ballpark quote to replace the evaporator coil and a new unit, since I requested both. He said he would call me back to confirm the price on Monday morning and he did. I ended up hiring him to replace my A/C and my evaporator coil. It was a very tough job b/c my crawlspace is extra tight, but his team did great and finished in a timely manner, fixed several things that didn't have to be fixed and cleaned up after themselves when they left. If you would like a good, honest and reliable company to service your HVAC, then I would highly recommend Jeff with Air Source.

Jason came out to a home that my clients had listed with very short notice. He inspected their unit, gave his recommendations with more than fair pricing, serviced the unit, and then called the soon-to-be new owner and explained to her and her buyer's agent exactly what he did. His professionalism, quick response, willingness to go above and beyond, and great pricing are definitely what sets his company apart from the others. Lets be honest, having to call an HVAC company isn't anyone's favorite thing to do, but knowing that Elite will make sure you are taken care of makes it a whole lot easier when that time comes!

I’ve always been skeptical about anyone working on my home. I was recommended to them by a friend of the family and it was the best decision ever made. They respond promptly, answer all questions needed and quality work. I had my whole HVAC system replaced and they were punctual and came the time they said they would. My electric bill went down almost $100 after the system has been replaced. I would highly recommend this company.

This company did an excellent job on fixing my A/C. They were adamant about getting my A/C up and running again that day. They did not try to sell me anything extra - they fixed what needed to be fixed and that was it. A week later, they called me back to check on the unit and to see if there was anything else they can do for us. Great customer service and really nice guys!

    What is an HVAC system?

The letters in HVAC stand for heating, ventilation and air conditioning. An HVAC system enables you to regulate your home or building’s internal temperature (thermal control) for comfortable living and working. You can bring heat levels down in the summer and up in the winter, keeping your home or office livable year-round. HVAC systems can also help with humidity levels and regulate indoor air quality in a home or office. There are many types of HVAC systems and technologies available.

Many homes have a forced-air HVAC system. Both the heating and the central air conditioning units share a ductwork system where they either push in or pull out warm or cooled air. There are also heating and cooling systems that don’t require ductwork — such as ductless mini-splits — but work on the same principles of heat exchange. The national average to hire an HVAC specialist is $2,920-$3,670, with costs varying depending on the work you need done and the equipment you are installing.

How many years does HVAC last?

The number of years an HVAC system lasts depend on the type and brand of components that make up your system. The lifespan of an air conditioner averages between 15 and 20 years. The life expectancy of a tankless water heater is approximately 20 years, while a storage water heater is closer to 10-15 years. Ducts may need replacing within 10-15 years. Your equipment will have a longer life if you have regular tuneups and maintenance to keep everything in good working order. If you’re having repair problems and your HVAC system is over 10 years old, it’s a good time to consider the costs and benefits of repairing vs. replacing. Energystar.gov provides the following tips to help you decide whether to repair or replace:

    • Your HVAC system needs frequent repairs and your energy bills are increasing.
    • Your cooling or heating equipment is less efficient.
    • Rooms in your home are too hot or too cold.
    • Your heat pump or air conditioner is more than 10 years old.
      • Replacing your system with an Energy Star-certified unit could save up to 20 percent on your heating and cooling bills.
    • Your furnace or boiler is more than 15 years old.
      • You may choose to replace your system with an Energy Star-certified furnace (which is 15 percent more efficient than a conventional furnace) or an Energy Star-certified boiler (which is 5 percent more efficient).
    • Your home has humidity problems.
    • Your home has excessive dust.
      • Leaky ducts can pull particles and air from attics, crawl spaces and basements and distribute them throughout your house. Sealing your ducts may be a solution.
    • Your heating or cooling system is noisy.
      • You could have an undersized duct system or a problem with the indoor coil of your cooling equipment.
    • Your score on the Home Energy Yardstick is below five.
      • That means your home energy use is above average and you're probably paying too much for your utilities.

How much does it cost to get central air?

Prices for central-air HVAC systems will vary. The national average to hire an HVAC specialist is $2,920-$3,670 but can run as high as $5,000 or even $12,000 depending on the capacity you need and other factors. Installing central air conditioning requires an entire system that works together to draw hot air out of your home. The system includes an outdoor unit, which houses the condenser and compressor, and the evaporator coils. If you don’t have an existing duct system, ductwork will need to be installed, which will affect labor and material costs. Leaking or damaged ducts will also need to be replaced.

How much does it cost for a new air conditioning unit?

If you’re ready for a new air conditioning unit, it’s time to start exploring HVAC prices. The price will vary depending on the type of air conditioner you buy and its cooling capacity. Window units, which require minimal installation, are one of the most affordable options on the market. If you’re purchasing from a big-box store, you can expect to pay approximately $120-$1,000 for a window unit. Window units are appealing for their quick setup and relatively low cost, but they can use more energy over time than central air and only cool the room in which they’re installed. Portable air conditioners don’t have the cooling power of a window unit, but they do have the perk of being transportable from room to room. Expect to pay between $225 and $800 for a portable air conditioner, on average. For a whole-house air conditioning system with coils, condenser and line (not including installation or ductwork), the cost from a big-box store can range from approximately $2,000 to $4,000 or more. If you don’t have (and don’t want to put in) ducts, a ductless mini-split air conditioner is a good option, although pricey up front. Pricing can range from $650 to $4,250 per unit on average; you’ll need one unit for each room in which you want temperature control.
