Chef Jeff came to our beach house as a surprise dinner for my husbands 50th Birthday. Jeff has the best personality, and was so fun during the preparation. He was so patient with us with some issues that we had and was nice enough to wait on my husband to get our boat situation taken care of before he served our dinner. The steak was hands down the best we have ever had. The mushroom appetizers were delicious!! I will defiantly be using him for our future dinners at the beach.

Jeff was great. We hired Jeff on a family trip and couldn't be more happy. He was quick to respond and gave us some great suggestions for some local flavor for the meal. He also made a great taco bar for the kids and the bread pudding was awesome. We would hire Jeff again.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    A personal chef would rather plan the event with the client based on a budget, style/quality of food items, courses and servings desired as well. It is better to assume the chef fees are about 20 per person, plus the food added in, any far distance travel fees, and special request charges, etc. For example: Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and asparagus for 4 guests...would cost about the same for the chef fees, as Lobster Colorado - Filet Mignon, baked potato, and steamed broccoli for 4 guests... Only the food cost would be a bit higher, of course, for the second meal. For weekly or bi-weekly meal preparation clients, the discounts are many. To come in and cook for example 32 meals=4 entrees, 8 servings each.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

    Usually a brief conversation via phone or text, then I email a short editable .PDF "Food Questionnaire" for client to type in responses and return via email. The event, or reoccurring meal prep, can be scheduled/planned and booked. Foods and menu are created, adjusted and recipes calculated for shopping. A deposit is paid by client, and also an estimate of the grocery/food cost, so shopping can be done prior to service date. The receipt(s) from grocery/purveyor are scanned and originals handed to client on service date, with any balance due paid upon completion of service. {tipping is not included, but very appreciated for great service} On event day, a scheduled arrival time for Chef Jeff is selected and prep/cooking/serving or packaging commences.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    ServSafe certified since 2008, re-certified with A+ semester long college ServSafe course as well. Member in the USPCA [United States Personal Chef Association] Certified from Cape Fear Community College Culinary School Executive Sous Chef, Executive Chef, Food & Beverage Director, Banquet Manager, and many years as prep cook, line cook, saute cook and even a dishwasher back in the stone ages.
