About Songbird Studios

hired 13 times on Thumbtack

Hello, I am Kelli Cox owner of Songbird Studios in Raleigh. I have been teaching vocals for over 15 years and have 30 years of performance experience. I specialize in helping singers work through many vocal challenges such as singing through the break, working the head and chest voice, increasing range and improving tone and control.

Breathing control is key to a good vocal! I can teach you better technique in one lesson.

I teach at 2112 Percussion in Raleigh Monday through Thursday. First lesson is free. My fee is $110 per month for a half hour lesson once a week.

I also teach beginning guitar, Ukulele, and fake method piano.

First lesson; wife and I back to back. Kelli is very approachable, has a beautiful voice and is a good match for us regarding song/music styles. We're both happy about how we're starting out; seems like a good approach for us. I already play guitar and need vocal help for song/praise/worship scenarios as well as strength for public speaking; Kelli is focused on our needs and interest.

Kelli is an amazing voice coach. When I met her, I had some raw talent but had never been formally trained. I got nervous in front of other people and completely lost my ability to carry a tune! With her help, I came out of my shell & can belt out Heart tunes, I don't care who's listening now :). She even helped me refine my ability to harmonize. I had the ear, just needed a bit more help.

Kelli has helped my son improve tremendously not only with his voice, but with his confidence as well. She is great to work with, very flexible and patient. She goes out of her way to individualize the lessons for the student. Also provides public performance opportunites for her students to gain exposure and experience.

Question and answer

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I pride my self on teaching solid vocal techniques to kids and adults. You will receive the benefit of classical training which is the benchmark for all great singers, but you will do it while singing the music YOU love. It is so much fun!

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I am a retired RN (I am only 43 years young) and I wanted to take all my years experience taking care of sick kids and adults, and turn it into a way to teach people how to sing!

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. What is the Cost of lessons? The first lesson is free. After that, the fee breaks down to $27.50 a less, or $110 per month for 4 half hour lessons. We will work together to set up a set time each week that works best for you.

What days of the week can I take lessons? I teach Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. I have several openings.
