FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Mural pricing is determined by the number of colors needed, indoor vs outdoor, if a lift or scaffolding is needed, number of walls, the type and condition of the wall, the type of paint required, and the complexity of the final design. I can do very high quality hand painted archival art murals with attention to detail, or we can create something more graphic, simple, and affordable. Please provide me with the specifics of the job and factors including square footage of the mural, photos of the wall and surface, photos of your design ideas, your budget, and any other environmental factors such as wall/building access. Depending on these details, a typical fine art mural will cost about $16 per square foot plus the supplies cost, but prices vary greatly depending on the design, number of colors, and complexity. With adequate information I can provide an initial estimate. after a site visit and a determination of the dimensions and the nature of the mural I can provide a more accurate price quote. I do offer some discounts that your project may qualify for.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I start with emails and texts and then a phone conversation to avoid misunderstandings from the start. I do site visits before the final estimate. For small to medium murals on a single wall indoors, we can design together using photos and your measurements of the dimensions. I prefer to see the space myself. In order to design a large exterior public art mural, a face to face meeting for the planning process is ideal and highly recommended. From there designs can be reviewed by email or text. I am very responsive and easy to work with. Unless you want an artistic vision that I create for you, come to your meeting prepared with a clear idea of what you want and quality photo samples related to that idea. Digital files are preferable. If it's an exterior mural, addressing surface prep is critical. I can provide a general quote if you provide me with the mural dimensions , a design, and a photo of the wall to be painted. I have to confirm your final design and know the wall condition, size, and location before I can provide a final, specific quote. Much of the success of your mural depends on your willingness to participate in the planning and design process.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a natural artist all my life, making art and murals since high school. Art is second nature to me, and I am a full time artist. I previously ran an art gallery and managed a multitude of artists from beginners to world class professionals. After so many decades, I know what I am doing. Moreover, I know all of the pros, cons, costs, and benefits of every different option on the table for you. I consider myself to be an ambassador of art, especially public art. I can not only paint a mural for you, I can help you launch a public art program in your city. You can trust me to be professional and trustworthy at your home or business while I create a beautiful mural for you.
