FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In order to stay up to date on what is going on in my field, I make sure to conduct research to get information on the latest trends on starting and sustaining a business. Last year, I completed the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER Professional Education Program through Wake Forest University, so that I could learn more about financial planning. Financial planning is a crucial part of any business.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Many years ago, I was sitting in a budget hearing for a city grant. During the time I was a site manager for a nonprofit organization and our organization was one of many that had applied for the grant. Organizations were randomly called upon to address questions regarding their program and organizational budgets for the grants. I saw so many people that had passion, but really didn't understand or were unable to justify their budgets. From that point on, I knew I wanted to help people realize their dreams, while teaching them the proper steps.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I recently completed a business plan for a client that will be starting a new business. I used the book that I had written on starting a for-profit business to help guide her through the process of giving me information that would go into her plan. She told me that my book was not only extremely helpful, but it has been helpful to her in the current business that she has. Although I created her business plan, she also learned a great deal in the process that she can take with her as she continues to move forward.
