Kat's Out o'the Bag
About this pro
Custom orders are welcome and quilts have been added to the repertoire. Smaller photography props, table runners, place mats, quilted bags, crib sets, twin and queen size quilts, as well as commonly requested throws. Sizes and materials vary depending on your tastes and preferences. Katherine Bennett-Carter is a stay-at-home mother of four wonderful children who keep her life full of excitement and wonder. During her last (and final) pregnancy, Kat decided to take out her dusty sewing machine and make her son his own cloth diapers. This prompted her to make a diaper bag to accommodate her diapers. Then others began to take notice of her combination of fabrics and sense of classical style. After taking a significant break and going back to school, Kat decided that she needed to make some homemade gifts for her family. This sparked a whole new love of sewing, fabric combinations, and QUILTING. The rest is history.

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? There are 3 pricing tiers: 1. traditional quilts made with all newly purchased 100% quilting cotton, 2. traditional blocked memory quilts and 3. random blocked memory quilts. These are prices according to complexity of design and materials used with the traditional quilt being the least expensive and the random memory quilt the most expensive.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? My customers contact me via the internet through facebook or etsy. We speak in detail about their wants and dislikes. Using online stores and stores local to myself, we pick fabrics for the custom quilt.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have been sewing for the last 7 years and making quilts for the last 5. I have also taught classes at my local Joann Fabric store for the last 3 years.
