Kate is a wonderful music teacher. She has taught both of our kids piano. She has high expectations but is able to make lessons fun. She is also understanding on the days the girls struggle with focus. She is flexible with scheduling. We cannot recommend her highly enough!

My child has been taking lessons with Kate for at least 6 years now, and we both agree that Kate is the only reason they are still learning and practicing the guitar. Kate promotes the most positive learning environment I have ever seen. She balances focus, fun, tips and advice with an enthusiasm that I can honestly say is contagious. If anyone has ever thought about learning an instrument or music theory, you honestly could not find a better place to learn than Happy Tails Music!

Kate is THE best music teacher. She takes time with her students, cares deeply about them and really wants them to succeed overall. Kate makes learning music fun and engages her students every lesson. Her personal music education is broad so she has a lot of insight into not just how to play an instrument but the workings behind the music too. My daughter has thrived by learning from Kate.

My daughter Naila has been Ms. Kate’s piano student for the last 5 ½ years. She was only 5 years old when she started. From the very first day, we have found Ms. Kate to be an extraordinarily patient and affectionate teacher to whom her students always come first. She understands her student’s needs and progresses accordingly. She is always there to help, nurture and encourage one to learn and flourish. While a very accomplished musician herself with many commitments, Ms. Kate always has time for her students and is ready to listen, solve problems or cheer them on. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Ms. Kate as a family and watch my daughter realize her dream of playing the piano.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    $30 for 30 minutes $45 for 45 minutes $60 for 60 minutes

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I begin with a free meet-and-greet with the prospective student where I gather information on their musical goals, prior knowledge of the instrument, and musical taste. If we feel like we are a good fit for each other, we can then schedule the first lesson. I recommend that all beginners start with 30 minute lessons once a week so as to not hurt themselves by playing too much too soon.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Bachelor's in Music Performance (concentration classical guitar) from Gardner-Webb University, Class of 2014 Master's Degree in Music Performance (concentration classical guitar) from East Carolina University, Class of 2016
