Susan did an outstanding work with our son to prepare him for the test. She was very professional, knowledgeable, and skillful in her way to teach him. He did very well and we recommend her very highly.
I needed to find a math tutor for my son, a senior in high school. He had just about given up on math. He didn't understand it at all and was failing it. I had to find a math tutor, and quick . Cassie responded to my search quickly and she tutors my son at our home. In just one hour , she explained the concepts to my son in a way he could understand it. He went from a 25% on a test he previously took, to a 100%!! Cassie is a "superstar" tutor and I highly recommend her tutoring services!! Lisa R.
I have referred her services to many people. My daughter scored a 4 on her EOG test.
All three of my children used the services of Pat Lewis from ColPrep Tutoring for college applications and essay work. Because Pat taught my son English in high school, we were familiar with her teaching style and that she actually taught kids HOW to write - so we didn't hesitate when it came time to seek assistance for those college essays. When we wanted a tutor to assist with AP test prep, and AP subject test tutoring, Pat helped there too! This is really a recommendation from our children, since they drove the decision to use Pat's services. They felt comfortable with her style and she kept them on track during the college application process. In fact, when it was time to apply to graduate school, my daughter called on Pat again to review her essays. We highly recommend Pat and her team. They care about the students and it shows. There are many options for your children for college preparation and we all want the best for our kids, but I'd highly recommend that you give Pat a call! Vickie M.
My son is in 10th grade and a bright boy. However, with ACT tests coming up, we wanted him to reach his highest potential. Through the Chelsea International Getting Into The Ivys test prep program, my son has excelled so much so that he is up to go to Stanford. After doing 6 weeks of private tuition with Dr. Michelle, her patience, understanding and encouragement, has driven my son’s greatest results. He scored 34 on his first time taking the ACT and he had no prior ACT testing experience. I am so impressed and so thankful for the professional experience of Chelsea International.
Howard worked with my daughter on the ACT. She had taken the test two times and never been able to get above 22 composite. After 7 weeks, she took the test one last time and raise her score to a 26 composite. She was so happy. She’s a good student in school, but doesn’t test well in timed situations. We continued to work with Howard on college essays and applications. Our family is very happy with the results.
Troy was the perfect tutor for my sons. He helped them with Honors Pre-Calculus and SAT math prep. He was always on time, developed a great rapport with my sons and much improved their math grades/scores and confidence.
Mrs. Batista is AMAZING! I was given her information by the school my daughter attends to try to get her caught up in math. She worked for weeks with my daughter every Saturday morning. She has made her feel more confident in her abilities to do the work. She always encouraged my daughter Destiny to keep trying, and not to give up. She taught her how to effectively use different strategies to solve the problems. Destiny absolutely hated math before working with Mrs Batista. Now she has excelled in math and has recently been asked to be tested to see if she is academically gifted. Thank you Mrs. Batista for being so patient, kind, encouraging, and caring!!
My daughter needed some help with SAT prep, and Ms. Blaine was wonderful. She was able to help her identify what she was not understanding and provided effective strategies to conserve time while taking the test.
To Whom It May Concern: June 18th, 2014 I am writing to recommend as highly as possible Dr. Raymond Vazquez as a tutor. I am the mother of two children who were in middle school in 2008, a 6th-grader and an 8th-grader, and Raymond tutored both of them in a manner tailored to their difficulties and with great professionalism and results. My daughter Dawn, the 8th grader, was struggling in her math class, having trouble thinking critically about the word problems they began giving her that year. She would read the problems too superficially and plug the numbers she saw into formulas that didnt necessarily apply to a given problem, yielding random results. She had earned all As and Bs through the end of 7th grade and had tested into early algebra I, but she failed the first math test that had these word problems and I was worried that she might fail 8th grade math. My son Noah presented an even more difficult challenge, as he was not only failing 6th-grade math and science, but had been diagnosed with oppositional-defiant disorder (ODD) and was unruly in and out of class and very difficult to teach. I saw an advertisement for Ray on a bulletin board in the supermarket and I was immediately impressed that he had a science doctoral degree, that he accepted students with behavioral problems, and that he offered customized lesson plans. My children needed that! Also, his rate was very reasonable which was something my family required at the time. I knew Ray was going to be great with my children within minutes after he entered our home. He chatted easily with both Dawn and Noah, and praised Noah for a clever joke he had made seeming to sense what an ODD child needed to avoid an immediate power struggle! He worked with Noah first, starting with math (fractions) and then moving to science (the solar system). Ray determined the level of Noahs knowledge in both areas quite quickly, and keeping the mood friendly and respectful, Ray zeroed in on Noahs misconceptions, starting at a more basic level the level of his current knowledge -- than was assumed in his current homework assignments. Ray made learning about fractions fun, along the way teaching Noah something more advanced about prime numbers that he encouraged Noah to share with his math teacher. At the end of the session, Noah felt proud of his progress and he was somehow easier to manage that evening. Dawn was a more natural student to teach, but her status as an advanced student (she was taking algebra in 8th grade) was threatened by her performance in class. As with most students in Florida, Dawn had been taught to the tests she had to take regularly, the FCATs. Reasoning about word problems eluded her because she had never developed critical thinking skills for numerical reasoning despite her high intelligence and strong work ethic. Ray quickly determined that she couldnt mathematically express simpler concepts stated in words, and build up her ability to do so rapidly and effectively. Her math grades improved dramatically in only a few weeks. I couldnt recommend Ray more highly. If you would like to speak with me further please contact me through Thumbtack. Sincerely, Pamela F.
My daughter has been going to Mathnasium for quite a while. She was really behind in math, she hated it, in fact. She was in 9th grade but working from a 4th grade level. Mr. King and his crew at Mathnasium of Garner were able to work with her 1 on 1 and she actually is working on grade level in grade 10 now, or Math 2 as they call it in HS. She is not afraid of math anymore, in fact she gets 100's on some of her tests and quizzes . I can't believe the difference. She goes willingly to tutoring, she likes math. I really can't say enough good things. There really is no price you can put on the changes I see in her improvement.
Ms.Jami started tutoring my children (ages 3 and 4) in Spanish a little less than a year ago. During that time my son's natural interest for reading increased but decreased when working with mommy. Ms. Jami did some preliminary testing to see if he was truly ready and soon she began tutoring him in reading also. Initially, I was concerned that he would not be able to tolerate 30 mins of Spanish then 30 mins reading. However, he is able to maintain in seat behavior with a short break between subjects and the 60 min sessions go by quickly. There is an award system in place to manage behavior and fun interactive hands on activities (singing, music, tactile and visual stimuli) which sustains their attention. As an educator it evident that tasks are age appropriate and consistently tweaked to meet the needs of my children. My children are day and night in terms of personalities and learning styles. I am alway's amazed how Ms. Jami manages both of them in the same session. A sign of a great teacher and a gentle spirit. Ms. Jami presents with weekly lesson plans, carry over activities, affordable rates and she genuinely likes children. I highly recommended her, she is one of my best finds on Craigslist to date! The children love and respect her!
Anna worked with my son to prep him for the new SAT this past spring. She worked with us to meet in a mutually convenient spot, and was always flexible with scheduling. Our son needed the most help with the essay, and Anna spent hours prepping him on how to brainstorm, organize, and write the essay on the SAT in such a short amount of time. She also helped him with the reading and writing sections by identifying his strengths and weaknesses, and helping him figure out the best strategy to beat the test. We will definitely be using Anna again to tutor in English next school year!
Wonderful young lady who knows here stuff!! She took her time and help my son with his math work from the 6th grade he has passed all of his quiz's and test this school year he went from a being a 'D' student to an "A-B" student. My son's schedule days with her was Wednesday's and Friday's. My son became excited about math again. So I am confident that he will pass his EOG's to move on into the 7th grade and I have already put my son on this young lady schedule. I highly recommend this young lady to tutor your young person!! Super smart! It's not a wonder that she graduated High School a year early.
Emma tutored me on the math required for the GRE including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. She was very patient with me and did a great job explaining the concepts when they didn't click. I went from failing the GRE math subsection prep tests to passing in a matter of weeks and was eventually accepted into the number one grad school for my profession.

I am former teacher in science and a tutor for 4 years. I have taught high school biology, earth science, astronomy, and study skills while being a research advisor to high school students. I have taught and tutored all ages, from kindergarten to 12th grade. My experience includes being a kindergarten-through-third-grade teacher in math, science, and reading. I begin all tutoring relationships with a thorough diagnostic test, a parent conference, and a review of the current student work, focusing on practicing problem areas in homework while reinforcing effective study habits and praising all improvements.
Our students get SCHOLARSHIPS. Our top three students in the class of 2016 earned over $1 million in college scholarships. SAT Prep. ACT Prep. PSAT Prep.
What makes me different? I tutor professionally full time rather than as a hobby or side job. I absolutely LOVE my job, and it shows in the quality of my work. When I take on a student I am invested in giving them everything I can to help them succeed. That often means I stay a few minutes extra or go out of my way to squeeze someone in my schedule for the day. I am patient and give constructive as well as positive feedback. I'm young and can better relate to my students. I am very flexible and do my best to accommodate whenever possible. Over the years I have developed unique strategies for explaining steps in ways that students can remember. I focus less on the proper vocabulary, if necessary, and use common language that the student will understand. I feel it is the teacher's job to explain the why of math and teach vocabulary, but my job as a tutor is to make sure the students can do the work.
Open communication, technical know-how, and a true passion for education are the fundamental qualities on which I have grown my tutoring business. Over the past five years, I have helped more than 100 students gain admission to their dream colleges and have averaged a score increase of approximately 260 points for the SAT and 6.5 points for the ACT. I have personally played a role in the lives of students who have earned admission into such institutions as Stanford, Duke, UVA, Cal Tech, Georgia Tech, UNC, and UPenn. Over the years, I have developed a very efficient method for identifying and addressing student needs using a curriculum that is custom fit for each student. This curriculum includes a carefully proportioned combination of test taking strategies and academic development.
