FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first lesson for a new person is seeing what set up they have and what books they may have already. I also go over the basic care of the instrument first if needed. Then I will evaluate the skill or playing level and work from what is there already. If we are starting fresh then I show all basic techniques and grow and build from that. If there is some knowledge already then being able to build on top of what is known and help correct anything that may need it.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started playing the violin in 4th grade. My parents decided to get me a private teacher to help since weren't sure what to do or how to help me. She helped me succeed in my orchestra along with competing and doing auditions to get into select orchestras and symphonies. I was in high school when I was positioned as the first chair which is a leadership role in a section for an orchestra. I was able to help teach and guide those in my section in the music and learned a lot in regards to how to show and demonstrate my knowledge to others. I loved doing this that I started helping others with their own competition pieces and it just continued from there! I love watching people grow into their own musician with their own style!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I work with all types, the youngest I have taught was 4 years old. There is no age limit with learning to play an instrument! I love working with all the different people and it challenges me make sure I am able to show and communicate to help with each person's best learning style.
