Kathy worked with my son for his SAT prep. He learned many strategies to help him with the test as well as in the classroom to help him succeed. Kathy was very prompt with his lessons and his homework.
I recently ran across a review about Quantum Prep and felt like I just had to share my tutoring story as well. I graduated from Lexington High School in Lexington Massachusetts. Lexington High School is a huge school. When I say huge, I mean I graduated with five hundred and eleven classmates. I was always proud to go to Lexington High, we were rated number 19 in 2014 by Newsweek in their Americas Top Public Schools. Luckily my class sizes were always small and it was not too hard to get help from the teacher. The first semester of my junior year I was taking five classes. I was looking into pre-med, so I took a lot of hard science classes that gave me at least two hours of homework a night. I also worked on the weekends, swam competitively, played in the jazz band and was active in my religious youth group. That year I was taking AP Chemistry as a challenge and knew I was going to have a tough time with it. My teacher, Mrs. Compton, was great! She explained everything really well and broke it down for the class. I just really couldnt get everything in my notebook and in my head with enough time to move on to the next topic, so Id lose information here and there, making it really hard to answer test questions. I got the first F in my entire academic career on the first quiz. Im one of those people who expect a lot from themselves, and I expected As. I felt really bad about myself for the first two quizzes because I wasnt coming even close to what I knew I could do. In addition, because I was spending so much time working on AP Chemistry, my other classes were suffering. And as a prospective pre-med student, I was afraid that because I challenged myself I wasnt going to get into the colleges I wanted. That's when I called Quantum Prep for help. As soon as I had the first tutoring session I felt a little more reassured. We went over my quizzes and homework assignments and my tutor quickly picked up what I was missing and how to keep me focused. I felt much more confident walking into class every day. My tutor figured out how I best learn and we started laughing and making jokes as we did stereochemistry. Yes, he figured out within one session that I learn better with music playing in the background and even knew why! The real difference was that he didnt just teach me material, he taught me how to learn for myself. It was a game-changer in how I approached school and learning in general. So while he was teaching me one class, I was using the learning techniques he taught me to improve my grades in all of my classes. He even patiently sat through temper tantrums and low points. So what happened after I called Quantum Prep? The next quiz I took, I got thirty points higher than the last. The first exam; I got a B+. I went on to graduate in a science heavy degree, and got into my first choice for college and graduated with a degree in Neuropsychology. I highly suggest using Quantum Prep for any kind of tutoring. I had such a wonderful experience and have used the lessons I learned from him in so many different aspects of my life, from studying at the university to job experiences. Thank you Quantum Prep!
I would highly recommend Cathy. This was my 1st time using an event planner and she has now spoiled me. I will never plan these type of events on my own again, and will only use her! My daughter was beyond thrilled with how she put together her Sweet 16, and my daughter is extremely hard to please. She delivered on everything we discussed and more. People from the venue where we held this party were peaking their heads in to admire the work she did setting up. And one of my daughter's friend's mother said my daughter has now set the bar high for a party. Thank you, thank you , thank you Cathy!
"I would highly recommend Jennifer as an outstanding writer and very effective coach for her clients. Her style is authentic, enthusiastic and she is very genuinely interested in her client. She spent time connecting with my 15 yo son about who he is as well as what is important to him. Through this connecting, she was able to help him think through and articulate his stories for purposes of completing an application for private school, going into the 10th grade. Hence, a very successful application that was true to him. I believe he discovered something about himself along the way as well. We are very grateful to have found Jennifer. She is also very honest, forthright and has an outstanding sense of humor that she brings to the table."
Marcie was my drama teacher for my Senior year of high school. Although I didn't experience her as an English/Literature teacher, I could tell from the reading and writing assignments in the drama class that she would excel at teaching those subjects. In my experience of her as my drama teacher, she would always find new and engaging ways of teaching. I recall group exercises in which we were challenged to write and act a scene in front of the class and also provide constructive feedback to the other groups. I also recall exercises that were designed to encourage "outside of the box" thinking. Of these exercises my favorites were the various improv games and the section dealing with "Method Acting". Marcie is not only an excellent educator, but also someone you can confide in. She truly cares about her students and doesn't treat teaching as "just a job."
Sarah was a great help to our daughter who was under the gun to finish some essays for a high school application. In short order, Sarah helped her get "unblocked" and just write. Sarah's positive energy and approach helped our daughter to get out of her head. Sarah makes it fun; she gives feedback in a constructive and nurturing manner. I strongly recommend her services for your teen or tween that needs help writing for school assignments or applications.
My daughter was only 5 when we started lessons and I was worried that she would not take to learning French but Delia has been patient and great with her. We've only been working with Delia for a few months but I can see a long and productive partnership in our future. Highly recommended!
Paula literally taught both of my children to read at 4 years old. The knowledge they gained through Paula's work continues to carry them through school. Both kids have always read above grade level and it's no doubt because of the foundation they gained through Paula.
I am currently a senior in high school, and I have been accepted into the Honors Nursing Program at my top choice of colleges. Although I have always had a passion for science, this became more focused during my sophomore year in high school. I had an opportunity to participate in a research science and math program. One of the requirements was to complete a year-long science project for the school science fair. I contacted Carina to see if she would be willing to work with me as a mentor on the project, and a tutor in general during the year to support my efforts to excel and grow in the science field, specifically in chemistry. She graciously accepted. Carinas subject knowledge and teaching qualities were a perfect fit. She was able to present and teach the material in different ways. If I easily answered a problem, we would discuss my critical thought process in arriving at the answer; she would also create additional problems and scenarios for me if I needed more practice with a specific type of problem. If I was having difficulty with a concept or problem, she was able to present the logic required for solving it in a variety of ways. She was able to use non-scientific examples that I could easily relate to, and then apply these examples to the science problem we were solving. Naturally, if you learn best by using scientific concepts, she can teach that way, too. She can work with all levels of learning sometimes, I had trouble understanding simple concepts and the big picture, whereas other times I had difficulty with detailed and complex problems. She was able to help me regardless of the difficulty or type of problem. Carina makes you earn the answer by asking questions, and guiding you to use and reflect upon your current knowledge to see how you can apply it to find a solution. I had an outstanding year, and thanks to Carinas help, my science fair project advanced to the regional science fair! Also, this past year, I took a virtual high school science course dealing with genes and diseases. During one particular unit, I was struggling and couldnt seem to put all of the information together. Fortunately, Carina was able to help me sort through the mess of information in my brain, and she helped clarify the concept. I actually started to enjoy doing the problems, when only a week before I had no clue where to even start to solve the problem. Carina was certainly a key part of my success; not only that, but she was a role model for me professionally.

I teach the Spanish language. This includes writing, speaking, reading and understanding with a proper Spanish from Spain. It is the original language, but I know how to teach the South American Spanish as a second option! Plus, I do have a university education.
We teach the same mathematics, but in a different approach. We use visual and tactile models for all levels of mathematics K-12. We provide one-on-one instruction with student exploration into the relationships. We have over 40 years of experience within the math education field at various levels of mathematics administration.
I have my bachelor's and master's degrees in civil and environmental engineering. I have been tutoring students in math for the past 10-15 years in pre-algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, geometry and trig. I also have my license for middle school math and tutored students at the Greater Lawrence Technical School who were in danger of not passing the 10th grade math MCAS. I love what I do. I love getting into the mind of students, to see where the gaps are, filling them in and watching their confidence grow.
