Introduction: Because of my extensive mathematics and mathematics education background, I'm able to pinpoint and correct that which is causing each student's difficulties in reaching their goals. If one method is giving a student difficulty, I can quickly change my approach or fill a gap in their learning. No two students are the same. I'm able to individualize and meet each student's needs. I've always loved to teach and to help students learn whatever it is they want to learn. With my mathematics and teaching background and experience, I'm able to help my students succeed and achieve success. I hired Darien to tutor my 14 year old son in geometry. Before meeting with my son, Darien took the time to discuss the chapter topics with me and was quickly able to prioritize the concepts that my son needed to be taught. Darien is an experienced teacher who has an in-depth knowledge of math so I felt very comfortable that all time spent would be valuable. Darien assessed my son’s ability and by reviewing his prework she was quickly able to direct her attention to areas that needed attention. I would recommend Darien as a math tutor because she has great experience with teaching and has a firm grasp of the concepts. Darien has spent years developing creative and new ways to teach math concepts and her passion for math and teaching are a huge asset for anyone who works with her.

Talk with them about their goals for the tutoring sessions, ask them what they see as their difficulties, assess what are their problems in math, with what they want help, ask them to solve a few problems they find easy.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelors in mathematics education, Masters degree in mathematics, PhD in mathematics teacher education. Certification in teaching mathematics.
