I have a high-stress job and lead an active lifestyle, which basically means I beat my body up a lot. Over the years, I've learned how valuable massage therapy is for me to maintain this lifestyle, but I've struggled to find a therapist and/or massage studio that met my health and scheduling needs--and, boy did I try every therapist and every studio within an hour radius of Manchester! That is, until I met Moira. I've never worked with a therapist that is as talented and compassionate as her, or as dedicated to me and identifying and resolving my personal aches and pains. She knows each of our bodies is different and approaches each person and session uniquely. Her training working with a chiropractor shows and really differentiates her, too. She will "geek out" in a session telling you about all the muscular and lymphatic systems she's working and studying in you, and how they are interrelated; she knows this stuff! I now have the confidence that an injury won't keep me limping in pain for weeks or get in the way again of my next fitness challenge; I sincerely look forward to achieving those goals with her, and bringing my body and mind to their fullest potential. I wouldn't trust my health or my physical strength with anyone else.

I spent years suffering from chronic back flare ups with treatments including multiple Cortisone shots, physical therapy sessions and even surgery. David’s massage treatment was by far the most effective of all and has provided long term relief of my pain. Any time I have a strain or ache I schedule a session knowing Dave will find and resolve the issue.

I am a healthcare worker and often my shoulders and my neck get very tense. I've had Richard work on me several times and he was able to relieve that tension. He also uses a series of techniques from unlimited body which I found very relaxing. I found Richard to be very trustworthy and punctual, while passionate about his work. I certainty would recommend him to anyone looking for a very talented massage therapist.

I was involved in an automobile accident several months before visiting and was unable to find any relief for my neck pain. I had tried physical therapy for months and it would help that day and maybe the next, but the pain came back. After a few massages I am like a new guy. I would recommend that anyone who has similar issues give this a try. The young lady is professional, and extremely responsive. The experience was completely relaxing and pleasant.

Reza.M is an outstanding professional in his line of work, not to mention he is a long lost cousin of mine whom I have had the chance of finally speaking to after years, it has been an absolute fortunate happenstance and a great pleasure to have been treated by him. I am very pleased with my ongoing experience with Reza, I haven’t been so much of a sceptic of alternative therapy as I am familiar with other practices that have proven to be effective. And so, when I stumbled upon him and his work I was more curious than doubtful and although I have never had the chance of being treated by alternative methods, I had high expectations and was looking forward to the experience. Reza has a wonderful way of dealing with minor obstacles. As I am overseas, our first few calls to each other, due to connection issues didn’t really go as planned which left me quite disappointed and left me feeling defeated. But Reza was quick to comfort me and asked me to stay positive giving me words of motivation and encouragement. This was the first time I felt that I would absolutely admire having him be my therapist. Once we connected and a couple of sessions with Reza, I understood the steps and the method in which he works. Reza works quick but well yet allowing you to take your time with your part in the process, he is very comforting and guides one well into therapy. I appreciate his skill, effort and hard work. Reza.M has a wonderful warmth and a unique way of showing you that he truly cares about your struggles and although he works quick (which is a good thing) he makes sure you are comfortable and with this you start to build trust in him, before you know it, you feel like your talking to a good friend. I have always suffered from rejection in my life. Reza has been the first person to make me feel accepted, flaws and all… This made me feel I was in safe hands. There wasn’t a single moment where I felt judged or any discomfort. This is definitely a quality I look for not just in people in general but in my Doctors/Therpist's. Hours and Punctuality: Reza.M is punctual and always checks with his patients the best time for them to receive therapy as well. It is a two way street with him and he allows you your space and your say when it comes to fixing up a time for sessions. He is almost always on time. I remember, because of my funny lifestyle he’s even let me get away wit a rain check or two. ( I wouldn’t suggest asking for one though) But he is absolutely a very easy person to communicate with. Which leads me to my next point. Communication: Reza allowed himself to be available to me and communicates with me often asking for updates and always checks on me which reminds me that he truly is invested in me and my struggles and is indeed committed to helping me. This re-ensures me his capabilities as a therapist. What has changed for me: I have multiple issues I deal with in various aspects of my life. Right from mental, physical, emotional, personal, financial and social. All of which have been addressed and acknowledged rather well by Reza from which he uses his techniques to put them into priority based on what affects the patient most. Making sessions a very organized experience which I prefer. It allows you to focus on one certain issue at a time allowing you to rid of it and move onto others rather than having to deal with a whirlwind of issues hit you all at once, something one might already be having a hard time coping with. This in turn allows you to prioritize and categorize your mental thought process and track your progress as well along with giving you the mental strength and power to state a clear intention in your sessions, which is part of the process of therapy with Reza. My first session is where I spoke of my anxiety and confidence issues I had bothering me to a grave extent. Reza determined that that session would be the right time to clear off that problem, we went into our session in which he was polite enough to let me vent out my frustrations about my issues. He is very patient and a good listener. Once we broke ground with each other and once I got the hang of the process we had many more sessions. Somewhere between the 3rd and 5th session I clearly noticed a huge difference in my Anxiety levels as well as in my confidence. (My Issues) Before I used to suffer greatly every morning as I awoke from bed with low energy and my head already shrouded in absolute chaos before I even opened my eyes. Once where I absolutely dreaded the feeling of leaving the house because of my confidence I would wear a mask to cover my face. I could hardly make eye contact with people around me, I wouldn’t go anywhere if the car windows weren’t highly tinted. Once out I never exited the car. These were my outings, my struggles. I was terribly afraid of people judging me. (The Big Change) After working through these problems in the few sessions with Reza, I noticed a massive difference. I woke up clear headed, with intentions of making my day as productive as I could. Anxiety was no longer my alarm clock. I didn’t have the feeling of being defeated by life and I started noticing a difference in the way I thought, spoke and behaved. I had become a lot more positive and my confidence was up by 30 percent I’d say. I finally left the house feeling good, unconcealed with no fabric draping my face. I looked out of the car window with no hesitation, and allowed myself to sit under bright white light without the fear of being judged by the people around me. I even had a family member express to me that I looked a lot more at ease with myself and a lot brighter and calmer in my face. This was an absolute big deal for me. Me being the frightened little girl that I once was, was now bold, became stronger and started to live a lot more fearlessly. Something I never thought would happen. And so,with these changes which seem tiny but were the most impactful changes I have seen in my life happen to me, I started to have complete faith in his work and I would regret it if I didn’t allow him to make changes to the other aspects of my life as well. I am looking forward to a free mind and a wholesome life with the help of Reza. I absolutely recommend Therapy with Reza, it has been a wonderful experience benefitting from his work. He is evidently good at what he does, his work definitely impacts your life positively. This is my honest, unbiased opinion and review of his good work. Sukoon Jamal

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is naturopathic medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is classified as an alternative healing method, but licensed naturopathic doctors share some of the same academic background as conventional medical doctors and can often prescribe some medications. According to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP), naturopathic medicine is holistic care that addresses a wide range of problems including (but not limited to) allergies, chronic pain, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, obesity, respiratory conditions, heart disease, fertility problems, menopause, adrenal fatigue, cancer, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Naturopathic medicine aims to strengthen and empower the body and its organs to heal itself through low-force interventions. Here are some examples of the type of medical services often provided by naturopathic doctors, as cited by the AANP:

    • Clinical and laboratory diagnostic testing
    • Nutritional medicine
    • Botanical medicine
    • Naturopathic physical medicine (including naturopathic manipulative therapy)
    • Hygiene
    • Counseling
    • Minor surgery
    • Homeopathy
    • Acupuncture
    • Intravenous and injection therapy
    • Naturopathic obstetrics (natural childbirth)

    Can naturopathic doctors prescribe medication?

Licensed naturopathic doctors can prescribe some pharmaceutical medication. Naturopathic doctors complete academic training similar to that of conventional physicians: a bachelor’s degree with a focus on pre-med studies, followed by a four-year residential naturopathic medical program whose first two years have a similar foundation to that of a conventional medical school. After completing their studies, they must pass a post-doctoral exam. Although licensed naturopathic physicians are able to prescribe medication, they usually focus on prevention rather than treatment of symptoms. A naturopathic doctor will offer a holistic approach to your care that encompasses your mental, physical and emotional health. While they will prescribe medication as needed to treat illness, they are also likely to be creating shifts in your lifestyle and nutrition to effect deeper changes in your body’s response to illness.

How long do naturopathic doctors go to school?

Like conventional physicians, naturopathic doctors undergo rigorous academic and clinical training prior to practice. Typically naturopathic doctors go to school for eight years. There are currently 20 states in the U.S. that provide licensing for naturopathic doctors. According to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, a naturopathic doctor must complete a bachelor’s degree and an accredited four-year residential naturopathic medical program, and pass an extensive postdoctoral board examination, the Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Examinations (NPLEX), in order to receive a license or registration to practice medicine.

The first two years of the residential naturopathic medical program cover many of the same areas of study as conventional medical schools. Naturopathic doctors provide primary patient holistic care. The goal of naturopathic medicine is preventative care and a focus on low force intervention healing methods. This can include natural medicines, acupuncture, hydrotherapy, homeopathy and much more. Naturopathic doctors often work in tandem with conventional medical doctors, as the two practices complement one another.

How do you find a good naturopath?

It’s important not to get misled by the title “naturopath” when searching for a naturopathic doctor. A naturopathic doctor is a licensed professional, while anyone who so desires can call themselves a naturopath. A naturopathic doctor has completed eight years of schooling and is licensed to provide high-quality medical care. When searching for a naturopathic doctor, a good place to start is by researching your state’s licensing and regulatory body for that profession.

Currently, 20 U.S. states license the practice of naturopathic medicine. For those seeking holistic, body-centered healing solutions, a naturopathic doctor can be a good fit. They use natural medicines as well as treatments such as electrotherapy and ayurvedic medicine to encourage the body to heal. Once you have determined a list of naturopathic physicians who are licensed in your state, look for reviews, ask for referrals, and interview the physician in person or by phone to find the right care provider for your health needs.

    Do naturopaths take insurance?

Many naturopathic doctors accept insurance, but a separate question is whether your insurance covers alternative and naturopathic services. There are several steps you can take to find out:

    • Verify whether you live in one of the 20 states that currently licenses naturopathic physicians:
      • Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont and Washington.
    • Confirm whether your insurance will cover naturopathic medical services. Read your insurance plan’s fine print, verify whether naturopathic doctors fall into your insurance carrier’s definition of a doctor, and confirm that the care you are receiving is considered medically necessary. Questions to ask your insurance provider could include:
      • Am I covered for this treatment by a naturopathic physician?
      • Do I need a referral?
      • Is there a list of approved naturopathic doctors in my network?
      • What will the co-pay be?
      • Are there limits to my naturopathic coverage?
    • Before seeking medical care, it’s key to understand the difference between a naturopathic doctor and a naturopath. Anyone may advertise themselves as a naturopath, while to be a licensed naturopathic doctor, a person must complete academic and clinical training.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
