- How did you get started doing this type of work?
In April 2011, I came home from class to find my apartment, where I lived with my boyfriend Shea of two years, empty, and an envelope taped to the door. Inside was a photograph of the place we had first met, with directions saying to go there. When I arrived, I found another envelope. I followed each clue, leading me on a tour of all the special places we had shared over the years. At the final location, a gorgeous state park, Shea was waiting for me with a picnic and a gift. The gift was my very first DSLR Camera. He showed me photos he had taken on the camera, and the very last one said: âÃÂÃÂAlyssa, Will you Marry me?âÃÂàI said yes, and we were married at that very same park on September 8th, 2012! That camera is what I used to take my very first engagement photos. I photographed my first wedding with it. ItâÃÂÃÂs what inspired me to capture the love stories of other couples and families and create this business.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I believe it's hugely important to find a photographer that is a good fit for you. Look for someone who has a style that you love, and a personality that you feel will put you at ease in front of the camera.
