WOW! That's the only way to describe Lisa's prompt and professional service. I just moved into a new home and the carpets were stained so badly I thought I would be purchasing new wall-to-wall. I decided to try cleaning them first and I am so happy that I hired Magic Wand. All of the pet and coffee stains came out beautifully. I only wish that I had taken before and after photos so you can see for yourself.

I hired Steve and his group to perform two jobs: steam spraying/oil stain removal on my very large driveway, and steam cleaning/mildew removal on my asphalt shingle front roof. He was extremely professional and dedicated to the highest standards. My roof looks brand new and the driveway, twenty years old, looks impeccable. Furthermore, though I had a scheduled appointment for the roof job, my home is on the market and I was asked for a showing without much notice. On a Saturday morning, Steve jumped to my rescue, knowing I wanted to have the roof looking pristine. While he was here, he spent more time working on a couple of driveway spots that needed a bit more attention. Overall, you cannot find anyone better in quality and customer satisfaction than Steve and Green Boys.

Sam did an amazing job mounting my 60 inch LCD on the wall. Not only was it a clean install but he was helpful with even cleaning the TV afterwards. I would highly recommend Sam as someone who is prompt , courteous, and does great work. I wish I knew about him earlier before I had the other TV downstairs in my living room botched by someone else.

If I could rate Justin more than 5 stars, I would! I don't normally write reviews often, but Justin and 1800 Water Damage deserve it. Justin was very professional and informative. 1800 Water Damage not only had reasonable prices but it includes everything you're asking for in your original quote. Previous companies I've worked with will try to upsell once they are in my home, and it adds up! Justin was very punctual which is something I respect as many businesses are not. He worked very efficiently while maintaining communication with me whether or not each area was satisfactory to me, and it was! My carpets look brand new and smell so fresh! Justin was also very friendly and pleasant to have in my home. He seems to really enjoy his profession and it is obvious he takes pride in his work. I will most definitely be calling Justin again when my carpets need cleaning, or even for maintenance to keep them new. I will also keep Justin and 1800 Water Damage in mind should I need restoration. Thanks again Justin! You'll be hearing from us soon!

Mark arrived at the time agreed upon. However, he ran into an issue being able to run a hose out of our third floor apartment window due to the availability of parking and not wanting to block the parking lot. Mark generously reached out to another cleaning company that uses different equipment to arrange an appointment for the following day at the original quoted price. The newly scheduled appointment occurred timely and professionally. Mark was flexible and professional and apologized for the inconvenience.

Darcy and her helper absolutely amazed me! It was a move-out cleaning at my 85-year-old father's home. Main floor and basement. All the surfaces sparkle! And they worked quickly. They asked questions where appropriate and took initiative too. Highly recommend!

Quick, easy booking. Tech took care to protect hardwood floors and was quick and efficient. This process is FAR superior to steam cleaning. It feels so good to finally have the bedroom carpets cleaned. Don't put it off like I did! Lou makes it so easy for you!

We were really pleased with Keith's work. He gave us a very reasonable estimate for the job (not by the hour) and stuck to it. He was fast, thorough and cleaned up after he was done. We had Keith remove 3 very overgrown shrubs and a pesky ,run rampant HUGE trumpet vine that had grown under the garage siding and was coming out the roof. He removed all of them, pulled the stumps and created a garden area in the space. (I think Keith will be posting a picture of the work) We will definitively hire Keith again Joan Mirantz

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    Who cleans area rugs?

Like your carpets, area rugs should ideally be cleaned at least once a year to remove dust and dirt and help them last longer. In general, carpet cleaning professionals also clean area rugs. Some rug cleaners bring their cleaning equipment to your home, while others remove your area rugs and clean them at their facilities. Either way, the rug should be cleaned with the solution most appropriate to its specific fabric and construction. It should also be completely dry before you return it to the floor.

    What is upholstery cleaning?

From your carpets to your drapes to your furniture, all fabrics need to be cleaned. Cleaning upholstery, or the fabric on your furniture, removes the dirt and oils that are transferred to couches and chairs through regular use. Because furniture upholstery can be delicate and colors can fade easily, it’s often a good idea to let professional sofa cleaners handle the job. They’ll determine the type of fabric — usually cotton, linen, wool, suede or microfiber — and the appropriate method for cleaning it, either steam-cleaning or applying a dry-cleaning solvent. In general, cleaning an entire piece of furniture includes a pretreatment, cleaning, and neutralizing rinse to the body, plus removing and cleaning all cushions and cleaning all crevices.

An upholstery cleaner may clean the entire piece of furniture, on a regular schedule or by request, or do spot treatments to remove pet, food, drink, or oil and grease stains. Furniture can also be deodorized to remove the smell of pets or tobacco smoke. Furniture that’s used often, like that in your family room, should be cleaned once a year to keep it fresh and extend its life. Sofa cleaners often also offer repair services to mend tears in fabric or patch holes in leather.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

How much does it cost to clean a rug?

Area rugs are typically found in high-traffic areas of the home, like hallways and entryways, so they collect more dirt and stains than simple vacuuming can handle. Similar to carpet cleaning, professionals can come to your home to deep-clean your area rugs. The national average cost for rug cleaning ranges from $80 to $120, but may be higher or lower depending on the rug’s size and fiber type. Rug cleaners generally charge by the square foot; for example, a standard 8-foot by 10-foot rug costs an average of $100 to clean. Natural fiber rugs, such as wool or silk, are usually more expensive to have cleaned than synthetic rugs. A carpeting cleaning company may charge on average $1.50 per square foot to clean a synthetic rug, $2 per square foot for a wool rug, and $3 per square foot for a silk rug. Some delicate rugs need to be washed by hand, which increases the price. Carpet cleaning companies often offer additional services, such as removing odors or applying moth deterrent, which can add 20 cents to 25 cents per square foot.

    Who cleans couches?

Even if your furniture doesn’t appear dirty or stained, your couches are collecting just as much dust, pollen, germs, pet hair and dander, and even food crumbs as your carpets. In general, the same professionals who clean your carpets and drapes can also clean your couches. Carpet cleaners usually offer upholstery cleaning services as well, and may offer a discount if you have your carpets cleaned at the same time. Alternatively, you can choose from a range of professional upholstery cleaners in your area who specialize in cleaning different types of upholstery fabrics, including delicate antique fabrics and other hard-to-clean materials such as suede. In addition to deep-cleaning the entire piece of furniture, sofa cleaners can spot-treat food, pet, and oil and grease stains. Most professionals also offer services to sanitize and deodorize your furniture and apply protectants to prevent future stains. As with carpets, experts recommend that you have your upholstered furniture cleaned once every year or two, depending on how much use it gets and whether you have children and pets.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
