I can't speak highly enough about Alex as he has been my trainer and also nutritionist. I have never looked better and that's all due to him creating a specific work out and nutrition plan personalized just for me. He is incredibly professional, knowledgeable, intune, caring, kind and responsive. Hands down he is the absolute best in the industry!
Tom is very knowledgeable in fitness & nutrition. I am very happy to have found Tom on Thumbtack.I have lost 20 lbs. since I started working with Tom. The exercise program he has designed for me truly targets my trouble areas.
Over the years I've worked with 3 other trainers and I would have to say that working with John has been the best. His knowledge, of not only exercise, but nutrition, supplements and rehab protocols gives you a one stop shop to help you completely transform your body. He works around your goals, any injuries you may have and knows his stuff inside and out. Working out with John has been like working out with a family member that cares about you, but actually knows what they're talking about. Since I started working with John, I have lost 25 pounds but have done so, while eating more real food, while rarely, if ever, feeling hungry. During that time I also have lost 11% body fat, which means all the weight I have lost is fat. I am also stronger now than I have ever been. Each workout with John has been different, but there is always incremental progress that you see accumulate. With John it's less of a fad diet or workout program and instead part of a lifestyle plan to help you reach your goals while being the healthiest you can be. I always recommend John to people and have even had my mom start training with him. If you have any doubts before starting, go talk to John, try the free assessment and I believe you will be pleased with the outcome.
I couldn't have had a better training experience with Romeo. He genuinely cares about his clients and goes above and beyond to make sure you are on track to obtain your personal fitness goals. He is an incredible motivator, and he definitely knows his stuff when it comes to exercise and nutrition. Romeo had helped me exceed personal fitness goals within 2 months that I had spent years trying to achieve. Romeo has changed my life, and I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for a personal trainer.
When I first met Erika, I had just set out to attempt my first ever sprint triathlon. Up to that point, I had been exercising on my own and lost over 100 lbs. I still needed lots of training and only 8 weeks until the race. What Erika then did for me was above and beyond what I could have done on my own. We began training; building powerful muscles and developing balance and stability. She even helped with nutrition planning and recovery tips. I completed my first sprint triathlon but felt my result was lackluster. For a first timer, this was normal. The next day I quickly signed up for another sprint triathlon for that summer. Once we began training for that, Erika amazed me yet again. The training sessions became much more intense. She provided solid motivation to keep up my mental strength. We built lots of explosive muscle and incredible cardio stamina. I finished the 2nd triathlon in the top 50% overall. It felt amazing. The training also translated well in my other hobby, soccer. The results were very real.
I began working with Omena and Love Bliss Wellness about 2 years ago. She has worked my body out with her Thai massage and has helped me create a nutrition plan with recipes. Omena is very knowledgable and intuitive. She works with you and what your goals are. I appreciate that she is not judgmental and she sincerely has your best interest in mind. She gives 200%.
Great experience. Paul really understands what I'm looking for regarding physical training. I really enjoy our sessions.
Christina is amazing! She helped me reach my nutrition goals in time for my wedding. She is very professional and I am undoubtedly grateful to have had her train me.
Before working with Jim, I exercised occasionally, but never felt like I was getting anywhere. I mountain biked, played with the kids and ran with my dog, and generally considered myself in OK shape (albeit 15lbs heavier than I should be). My workout runs were typically 2-3 miles at top speed (around 7:30 pace, and my Heart Rate would max out around 180bpm). I didn’t enjoy these “all out” runs, and would usually dread going out for my next run. I’m the type of person who likes to succeed at whatever I’m doing, so I’d exercise in “bursts”. During a burst, I’d exercise frequently and would enjoy seeing my pace improve from 8:00/mile down to 7:17/mile (my personal best 2.5 miles). When I stopped seeing improvement (or got injured), exercise would drop down my priority list, I’d stop for a while and would pick it up again a few months later when I had time. In retrospect, my workout regime was unenjoyable and unsustainable. In March 2013 I weighed 187lbs and felt generally unhealthy and out of shape, so started running. I reached out to Jim and mentioned to him that I was running and he started asking questions. It quickly became clear to me that Jim knew a ton about how to train, and he offered to help coach me. On Jim’s advice, I started wearing a Garmin watch and HR monitor on my runs so he could track my workouts. After a few runs he evaluated my situation as: 1. I have a gifted heart rate (who knew?) so had good potential 2. I was running one type of workout (short+fast), and needed to: a. Slow down and get in more miles, and b. Do different types of workouts, each with its own specific purpose 3. Change my diet to get off my “sugar cycle” and shift and my metabolism to become efficient at burning fat Jim said if I followed his program that I would accomplish things I wouldn’t think possible. I figured I’d give it a try. It turns out that following Jim’s recommendations were easy to do. In fact, switching to longer, slower runs made the whole running experience dramatically more enjoyable. I actually looked forward to going out on runs because I was didn’t suffer the way I used to. Jim also gave me some interesting podcasts and books on the topics of health and fitness; I’d listen to them while running on the trail and get more informed and motivated. I found it very motivating to have Jim monitoring my exercise. I’d send him a report after every workout including the Garmin file; he’d analyze it and give specific recommendations on what workout to do next, diet, recovery, sleep, injury prevention, etc. During this period (April 2013-July 2013) I got the exercise bug. I talked to Jim or emailed every day and was really enjoying it, but I was still running much slower than I used to; I probably averaged 9-10 minute mile pace and hadn’t done anything near my 7:17/mile record. I couldn’t see the results, but Jim constantly analyzed the heart rate, pace, elevation profile of my runs and assured me that I was getting much fitter. It turned out that he was right. He was Mr. Miyagi and I was the Karate Kid. I did a sprint triathlon with some colleagues from work in Aug-2013. Despite never having ridden a road bike and being a weak swimmer, my fitness allowed me to finish 3rd in my age group, and (to my surprise) I ran the 5k at 7:02/mile pace after having swum 750 meters and biked 12 miles. After this, I started seeing some amazing improvements: • Aug 2013: Weight had dropped from 187lbs to 163lbs; resting heart rate had dropped from 70 to 48bpm • Oct 2013: Olympic triathlon: 28th of 204 people. Ran 10k at 6:58/mile (after 0.9 mile swim + 24 mile bike) • Feb 2014: Half marathon: 6:44/mile pace (finished top 5%) • Mar 2014: Sprint triathlon: won age group. 11th of 194 people. Ran 6:27/mile pace (after swim + bike) • April 2014: Olympic triathlon: Ran 6:48/mile pace (after 0.9 mile swim + 25 mile bike) • May 2014: Trail Half Marathon (>2,000’ of gain): 3rd overall out of 134 participants (1:44, 7:56 per mile pace) • July 2014: Half Ironman (“70.3”): 76th of 2535. I even beat 5 pros. Qualified for 70.3 world champs in my first 70.3 • Sep 2014: 70.3 World Championships: 902nd/2235. I raced well and enjoyed it (the competition was very fast) • Nov 2014: Ironman Arizona. 10 hours 46 minutes. 170th of ~3000 (top 6%) despite injury issues. • 2015 Season: 2 Ironmans, a 70.3, a sprint (won age group) and an Olympic (8th overall out of 608 athletes!) It has been really fun to improve this quickly. Jim’s transformation approach has made it enjoyable and sustainable. If I hadn’t worked with Jim, my March 2013 exercise burst would have ended a month later, I’d probably still weigh in the 180s, be doing bursts of exercise and my fitness goal would still be to break my 7:17/mile record. Instead, I’ve successfully and sustainably transformed my health and fitness. I set a goal in early 2014 to qualify for the 70.3 and Ironman world championships. A year ago, that goal would have seemed (1) unachievable and (2) completely insane. Now I’m half way there. I know it IS possible, and more importantly I’m enjoying the journey. I talk to Jim daily by email or on the phone. No matter how much faster/fitter I get, I find it immensely helpful to have Jim pore over the details of my workouts, provide feedback, prescribe new workouts, rest, sleep, injury advice, nutrition ideas, equipment, motivation and goal setting. My goals and exercise program will change, but my transformation is permanent. Jim’s approach made it possible.
Working with Lisa was a great experience. I really enjoyed being coached by her. She is highly skilled, positive and enthusiastic. Focuses on the holostic approach on getting you in shape rather then just nutrition and training. I started seeing results after the very first week of working with her and later - far exceeding my own expectation. Lisa is an amazing results driven coach yet sweet at the same time and has gone out of her way to be flexible to my needs. Highly highly highly recommend her!
Our family has interacting with Michael Demakis on various levels. My daughter, a soccer player, has worked with Mr. Demakis on strength and agility for approximately the last 2.5 years in preparation for, and now playing college soccer. His training in combination with his recommended nutritional program has yielded great results. Specific areas of improvement that we can directly relate to Mr. Demakis include: strength, agility, ball control, endurance, speed and acceleration and most importantly a strong core that helps resist injuries and improves rate of recovery. I personally have worked with Mr. Demakis on nutritional program that has allowed me to lose 43 pounds. My wife and I now work work with Mike on a weekly basis to improve my strength and flexibility. We highly endorse Mr. Demakis as a personal trainer for the college-bound athlete as well as for those of us who want to get back in shape.
I have been training at the gym for the last 34 years, hired 5 consecutive trainers to come helping me at my building's facility, and Ben is the last trainer I hired for the last 7 months or so til now. In this short time he pushed me to accomplish what I've not imagined I was able to accomplish at my age, and I was not able to do with the past trainers neither. At first I was skeptic when we've started, but upon 2 weeks of him being consistent and insistent with his approach, I surely could see changes taking place on my body, my energy level was the highest ever, my face looked younger, and most of all, people were complimenting my overall looks, and this is what he promised would take place in few days, when we've met for the initial consultation. Fast forward 3 of my building's tenants hired him months ago as well, and are quiet satisfied with their achievements. The only thing I would say I hate about him is, he is tough on me, but patient and consistent, this I cannot deny. Good results come with hard work and discipline. He monitors/changes my diet randomly, to not stagnate as he says, and he lets me "cheat meal" once or twice a week, while keeping my physique looking and feeling outstanding. I had to take time and write this, because Ben knows the ropes based on his long expertise, knowledge in fitness and nutrition, and professional interaction with me, my neighbors do swear by his excellent accomplishments with him, and I am able to witness that too looking at them I am convinced Ben made an outstanding investment for me of my time and money, this is for sure. I am happy overall in life with how I feel and look. Ben deserved my 25 minutes posting a review about him, he did not ask and never asked for it, I am posting it without him being aware of it. Whatever you do, keep in shape, and make sure you hire a trainer how knows, and has experience, considering the fact that there are scores of trainers out there.
Stephanie is a super motivational person. She resonates with high energy and passion for fitness and nutrition. While trainning with Stephanie through the years she has helped me grow my inner fitness to a level outside my comfort zone and reach all of my fitness goals. Most important, she keeps the learning process fun and exciting. Brian,
Arthur was very in tune to my needs based on my health and physical needs. I was very pleased and intend on setting up regular sessions with him after school starts.
