I havent been taking lessons for that long, but I can already tell that my singing voice has improved tremendously since my initial lesson. My voice now has a lot more power than it has ever had before. The lessons are very informative, educational, and a lot of fun! Since Patrick Wickham is a voice physiologist, he knows all about the voice and what should be happening in your throat/back/abdomen to make certain sounds. I enjoy hearing about how everything works and what exercises to do to work certain muscles and things to improve my breathing, singing etc. I am very impressed with my experience and the service at WVS. Before every lesson I am offered tea, coffee, and water. Patrick Wickham makes every lesson slightly different so that we can work on different aspects of singing. The lessons are also catered to the individual so that you get the best experience and also the best techniques that will work for you. The lessons are recorded and sent to you after the lesson. That way, you can practice at home and you know what you need to work on. Just like everything else, you have to practice if you want to get better and want to see the results you desire. Patrick Wickham even sends you (via email) exercises to do to practice using the various muscles and things you use while singing. If you ever have any questions about anything from a clarification of something in the lesson, or a question about your performing career, Patrick Wickham is always there is help you in any way he can. Since he has an incredible amount of experience in performing, he can give great and reliable advice to any of your questions or concerns. I have had an outstanding experience so far and I cant wait to see how much I will improve in the future! Thank you Patrick Wickham!
Really friendly and great with constructive criticism! Definitely a great teacher to seek out for voice lessons, beginner or advanced.
Rae de la Cretaz is a magician! I walked into my first lesson with her seven short months ago, after many years of longing to take singing lessons and a year of procrastinating. She put me right at ease, and I got to experience her incredible store of knowledge, energy and outright passion for the human voice. When I came in, I had what I described as a "pleasant" voice, no better, no worse. I had been singing (mostly to myself) for my entire life, and for the last 18 years with a choir. The change in this short amount of time still surprises me. Sometimes when I sing during my lesson, I hardly recognize that it's me singing. There's a richness that I would have admired in others, but never thought would be possible for me. People whose opinions I respect have come forward and remarked favorably about my voice, something I didn't experience before. In the short time that I've been taking lessons with Rae, I've learned so much, and look forward to coming to each lesson. She is a treasure!
I have never taken singing lessons before. With just a couple of lessons with Mara I have noticed a tremendous change in my vocals. I am able to reach notes that I did not know existed for me, I am in better control of my breathing, my phrasing is better and overall became more confident in my singing ability. Thanks Mara!
I have not been working with Pamela for long, so ask me again in a couple of months and I'll probably change to 5 stars! So far I enjoy my lessons and the exercises we do have already expanded my range. My high E used to be just a squeak but now I can really sing it after only a few lessons, and I even feel more confident with my lower range - something that has always been a struggle. I look forward to seeing what is in store with her guidance. I fully recommend Miss Pamela!
So far we’ve had a handful of singing lessons and my daughter loves the teacher.
Barbara is personable and extremely professional with her singing lessons.
I have been taking private singing lessons with Christine for about two years. During this time her coaching has opened up my voice both technically and in terms of emotional expression. We have worked together on a range of classical music, and she is a very hands-on, positive but also exacting teacher. In addition to helping build my repertoire and improve my technique, she also gives me advice about the performance business. I would recommend her 100% to anyone who loves to sing and wants to work on their technique and performance.
Dan is really nice teacher. I'm glad to took his singing lessons. He always teach me singing and that backdrop. It really helps me. When i have a question, he explains clearly. I recommend his lesson :) Thank you for everything Dan.
Working with Gwin has been an amazing experience! This is my first time ever working with a vocal coach and taking music lessons. I am 100% pleased with her professionalism, ability to motivate, flexibility, and her talent to pull my own creativity out that I did not know existed. These lessons have been surprisingly affordable. But most importantly I'm impressed with the results she has produced. I would highly recommend Gwin and her musicality.
I've had five lessons with LaJuan over the summer. I liked it so much my husband and daughter also took lessons! LaJuan is very professional and has worked with our hectic schedule. She strikes a balance between working with our limitations and pushing us to do better. I like how at the end of my five sessions, I know my range, what music soothes my voice and had my first recording. We will certainly take more lessons as singing is a never ending journey. Try her services, you'll love it too!
Marty has been a wonderful to piano teacher to my two children. My daughter had taken piano lessons two years ago for one year, and Marty picked up immediately on what skills she had and how to improve upon them. She is always excited on days we have piano. While Marty was a bit reluctant teaching my son at first due to his young age, he recognized how eager he was to learn and gave him a chance. My son absolutely loves to learn piano from “Mr.Marty”- and by his third lesson he was playing with both hands! Marty is patient with my children, makes learning fun, and at the same time teaches them properly the skills and habits needed to properly play the piano. My children literally run into piano lessons because they love it so much, and as their mother, I couldn’t be happier with the skills they are learning as well as strengthening their love of music.
Dave is an amazing instructor! He truly cares about his students. Keep an open mind when coming to his lessons, because I can assure you that his methods are to ensure that you enhance musically, but with correct techniques. Dave is patient and honest. He not only wants to see his students do well and improve in their lessons, but he also cares about his student's well-being. I am happy that I found Dave on thumbtack, by far the best decision, I have ever made. I have improved greatly within the year, and I know I'll continue.
Jonathan Segal is not only an extremely talented pianist but also a very skilled and insightful teacher of piano whether classical, jazz, or pop. He is a very nice guy with a great sense of humor that makes the piano lessons even more enjoyable -- not to mention more productive ! I highly recommend him. I am very glad to have found Jonathan as an instructor for studying piano.
Art is the best singing teacher I've ever had...and that's saying a lot, because I've been studying voice on and off for over 20 years. I've studied rock as well as opera, and art is the best at BOTH genres that I've ever met. He knows so much about the human voice, it's actually freakish! He can talk about any vocal technique and explain it's strengths and weaknesses in simple terms that are easy to understand. His own technical approach is so simple and natural -- it actually brings out and enhances your natural ability rather than trying to superimpose some artificial mumbo jumbo that just confuses you and sounds like crap! I've also observed many of his lessons, and he's great with females too (I'm a guy obviously haha). i was also surprised to find out that he is as skilled and knowledgeable about broadway music as he is about opera and rock. The other great thing about Art is that he is a good engineer as well, and he has a studio in his house. So he regularly records his students singing at their lessons and then emails them the mp3s. This is SO helpful...hearing yourself recorded on a regular basis in an objective way can help you grow as a vocalist by leaps and bounds. He has even made some great sounding demos for some of his more serious students, and those demos actually helped them secure auditions and singing jobs. He has even helped some of his younger students land some great auditions at reputable music schools. And finally, Art is one of the best people i know. He is a great guy who always gives 110%. He cares about all his students. He's also hilariously funny, which keeps me smiling and relaxed at my lessons. It's the perfect environment to learn voice, which by nature can be stressful sometimes. Art is the complete package when it comes to voice teachers! Give him a try...you won't be sorry :)
On time and great lesson for beginners. We booked last minute n he was accommodating
Michelle is not only a wonderful person she is a remarkable teacher. I sing with Michelle in the Schiller NJ Chorus and have private singing lessons with her. Not only is her voice glorious but her teaching style covers the many aspects of singing; anatomy, music theory, voice control/development and gentle informative critiques. She’s the best!
Sophia is both professional and friendly. She knows exactly how to get your voice right. She’s passionate about teaching and singing, and she would make you enjoy your lessons as much as possible!
In just a few short months I can't believe how much I've learned from Jessica. My technique has improved; my tone in the upper part of my range has improved; how to keep my tongue from getting in the way / impeding the sound; so many aspects of singing. When I started my lessons I was particularly concerned that I might be doing something that was tiring my voice and causing it to lose volume. Jessica's knowledge of and ability to demonstrate proper singing technique helped me through that concern and I know I am a "healthier" singer now. Knowledge and ability aside, her approach is also very patient and very encouraging. I highly recommend her to anyone interested in improving their technique, tone, range, artistic ability, etc.
Olivia was very attentive and wonderful with my niece. She is very knowledgable and a great instructor. We are definitely going back for more vocal lessons!
I've taken voice lessons from a handful of teachers before Jac, and will take from no else after taking from her! Her knowledge of the voice is immensive, she understands how to teach to different learning types and she is EXPERT in many different styles of singing which I find to be very helpful as a student. I originally came to Jac for help with musical theater auditioning, but what really surprised me was the tricks and tools she knew to help you not only hear the difference in your voice but FEEL the differences too. Of course since I came to her for audition help she has not only helped me build a book of appropriate song for roles I'd be up for, but also understanding how to fill out your book with rep that is balanced.
