"Steve was my trainer for a few years and excellent at it. He helped me lose weight, tone up and build my stamina. I never had a professional massage before, until Steve talked me into it. I never felt better after those massage therapy sessions. We still meet for my weekly massage therapy sessions and Steve also does energy work on me combining Reike and Therapeutic Touch. This work is very gentle and helps to relax."

"Naceel gave us the best price! We couldn't believe it!! You have to contact him and request him to see for yourself! Naceel gave us the best massage. I always get massages but I have to say this was the best massage! Today was my first time having the massage done at the comfort of my home. I wasn't sure how it would be. But the experience was great and privacy of my home. I was so relaxed and even took a nap after. It felt great that I didn't have to travel home. I was already home. Me and my mom got the massage. I am going to refer him to everyone. Again, no one can beat his price! He care about the clients and not the money. I wanted the massage very often and he told me based on my weight that I didn't need as much as I wanted the massage. Naceel will work with you individually and let you know how many sessions you would need for optimal health. He cares about his clients. He is fantastic!"

"Best massage ever!!! I have had massages all over the US and Mexico in resorts and on the beach, NOTHING comes close. Yury was on time, very professional and thorough. I had severe neck pain for weeks. After he was done I felt zero pain. If you have ever had surgeries, don't worry. I had 3 surgeries including acl reconstruction and 4 lisfranc fractures. Yury showed me great stretches and was very delicate with the areas. Love love love Highly recommended!"

"Excellent! Michelle made it through the snow and right on time to provide her massage services and make it a very relaxing valentines day for my hubby and myself. She's very professional and her Hands are just MAGIC. We both had a one hour massage and Michelle focused on those areas we specified while providing a very relaxing and thorough full body massage. Looking forward to booking again for our anniversary. Thanks a million Michelle!"

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is Thai massage?

Thai massage, also called Thai yoga massage, combines acupressure and assisted yoga postures. Thai massage is based on the flow of energy through the body and focuses on energy lines called “sen.” It doesn’t use oils or lotions and, instead of rubbing muscles, the massage therapist compresses, pulls, stretches and rocks the recipient’s body to promote the flow of energy through these sen. In this form of massage therapy, practitioners use their hands, knees, legs and feet to apply deep muscle compression and stretch the body. It’s often performed on a mat on the floor instead of on a massage table. Like most forms of massage, Thai massage is used to relieve stress, improve range of motion and enhance flexibility. Some people also use Thai massage to address a range of health issues, including:

  • Relieving tension headaches
  • Decreasing back pain
  • Reducing joint stiffness and pain
  • Stimulating circulation and lymphatic drainage
  • Boosting energy

Because a traditional Thai massage session covers all of the muscles in your body, it typically lasts 90 minutes to 120 minutes.

How much do you tip a massage therapist?

All forms of massage therapy, from Thai massage to Swedish massage to deep tissue massage, are similar to other spa or hospitality services. So it’s appropriate to tip a massage therapist the standard hospitality rate of 15 percent to 20 percent of the cost of the session. For example, the national average cost for a deep tissue massage is $70-$90, so expect to tip $12-$18. Of course, you can always tip more or less depending on your experience, especially if you’ve opted for extra services. For example, expect to tip more for a couple’s hot stone massage session that includes aromatherapy. Also, if you’re paying with a gift certificate or coupon, or purchasing a discounted multi-session package, make sure to calculate your tip based on the full price of the massage.
