FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I don't have flat fees. I will evaluate your project and together we'll agree on a fair price. I will charge for travel. Returning customers will receive a 5% discount.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We usually exchange 2 or 3 emails, followed by a phone call. We will negotiate price, deadline and other particulars. After the price is set I start work as soon as my calendar is clear -- even the same day if I can. I like to work quickly and give the customer a chance to "look in" on what I'm doing frequently - that prevents misunderstandings later on. If I am being paid in increments, I will expect the payments to be made on time.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
A bachelor's degree in English with a Writing emphasis (Mills College), plus a LOT of professional training -- Writing for the Web, Copy Editing, Proofreading, Narrative Journalism, Strategic Communications, Corporate Communications, Creative Non-Fiction, and more. I have completed this coursework through commercial organizations like Media Alliance of San Francisco and through educational programs including the Neiman Center of Harvard University, Mills, City College of San Francisco and others.
