Introduction: I am a classically trained fine artist, providing services in the arts. I teach foundation studies in art, which results in students grasping the fundamentals of art. I also teach more advanced students, working in charcoal, pastel, oil and acrylics . I draw and paint along with my students, to teach them visually, since that is the way artists learn best. We work from still life set-ups to start, with drawing and then move to painting, unless the student is already advanced. I have worked with students of all ages and I have proven techniques that will provide excellent results with even 10 yr. olds. I also offer portfolio building and review for high school students. In fact, one of my students now attends the prestigious Grand Central Atelier in NYC. I have many examples to show. I am also proficient in portrait drawing and painting, mural art and fine art commissions. I love working with my hands creating works of art and teaching. I enjoy the results my art delivers.... from seeing the satisfaction of my students when they accomplish a great piece of art, and my clients thrilled expressions when they see their finished commissioned custom pice of art.

Mrs. Gallo is one of the best teachers I've ever had. I've studied with her for 1.5 yrs. She is patient, fun, and makes things easy to undertand. We drew from life in charcoal - each session increasing in difficulty. With each drawing, she taught me composition, light vs shadow, foundational drawing techniques, shadow shapes, and comparative measuring! She never shied away from my pesky questions. She pointed me towards websites, books, art shows, and much much more! She MORE than helped me with my college portfolio. With her help and guidance, I was accepted into one of the best classically trained art school in the world. She will go completely out of her way to help and better her students. I would definitley give her more than five stars if I could! She is absolutely the best!!!!

Mrs. Gallo is such a great artist and teacher. My son is just 10 years old, but every time I see his piece of art that he did, with Colleen, either from still life or picture, it is always a big Wow ! I can't believe the extensive details in every aspect of his art. What is better then that is her patience and loving environment that she create around him, my son always look forward for his lesson with Colleen. I definitely recommend Mrs. Gallo to anyone looking forward to spark his/ her talent or just to unleash that love of being able to paint.

First of all, the only thing that could be better would be for her to do more projects in my house. Colleen painted a faux stone entrance for my cello students which gets rave reviews from all the children and their parents. They reach for the faux door handle and try and look in the faux window. Fun! She also did a beautiful stipple finish in the dining room. Her color sense is amazing - I would've ruined it with my color choice. She works quickly and meticulously. I wouldn't hesitate a nano second to recommend her. I would give her an extra star.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing for teaching privately and groups varies from $40.00 - $50.00 per hour. Commissioned art is completely individual. Please inquire about specific requests.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
As a classically trained artist, dealing with commissioned work, I collaborate with my client to achieve the vision they have in mind. I work up studies to review with my clients, and tweak the design until my client is completely happy. With teaching, I meet with the prospective student and discuss their wants and needs to train with me as a visual artist.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have studied fine arts in the traditional, classical manner for over 30 years. I have a fine arts degree from Newark School of Fine Arts 1985, The Art Students League and The National Academy, NYC, continuing education with the top artists living today. I have collectors of my fine art paintings and drawings throughout the country.
