FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
We have always wanted to own our own business and Tutor Doctor seemed to be the perfect fit for us. It allows us to provide a sorely needed service to the community we live in as well as surrounding communities. It allows us to contract many different tutors (over 90 and counting) which is very important in the current economy. Also, we have a son who struggled in school when he was younger and needed additional help that a tutor in our community provided. He is currently a successful working adult and we wanted to help other families achieve that level of success and peace of mind.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
We work with a variety of students; from the struggling student who is in jeopardy of failing a subject(s) to the gifted student suffering under the pressure of maintaining that academic success. Each student is unique and requires a tutor specifically tuned to their needs. While most of our students are in middle or high school, we currently are tutoring young elementary school students, college students and adult learners who are going back to school to in increasing numbers these days.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
We have a current student who in his freshman year of high school had failed almost every class he took, lowering his self esteem to a point where he wanted to drop out rather than going to summer school. The family was in turmoil over this and they turned to us for help. With a comprehensive tutoring program during the summer, which the student was very keen on at first, he passed his summer school courses and during the following school year maintained an A in math and B's in all his other subjects. His confidence level is through the roof and his family couldn't be happier.
