Blue Square Writers Studio
About this pro
Everything about Blue Square was professional. They communicated promptly, delivered ahead of schedule, and were completely reliable. I did, however, find a few minor typos/errors in the text that they had missed, so the quality was not a perfect 10, but about 85%.May 27, 2018Verified
Chris is so helpful. He answered every question promptly and adequately. The editing was professional and insightful. I will use him for all of my future projects.Apr 15, 2018Verified

- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I've earned my MFA in Creative Writing. For those unfamiliar with an MFA degree, it's a graduate degree in creating our own writing (my final thesis is a publishable book), studying both past and contemporary authors, and analyzing the myriad aspects that go into telling a story -- all with published novelists and current editors/agents in the field.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?Ask your editor for a sample edit... and for free. If they don't do that, they're likely a scam. Send the editor three to five pages (not a full story, that's just taking advantage). If you like what they have to say, hire them.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project? Most editors are remarkably personable. Don't feel intimidated or afraid. And if your editor makes you feel that way, it's time for a new editor. As you know, creative writing is a really personal pursuit. You put a lot of love and effort into your work. Sending work to others can be intimidating. As a writer myself, I understand that trepidation. But, editors aren't brilliant egotists looking to be mean, just sitting in a room laughing at writing. They're writers too and understand the struggles of writing. I'm looking to help you become a better writer, I'm not here to just point out faults.
