I had felt very nervous just before i started to take English lessons from Raul. I had some anxiety and a negative thought about i will never learn English. After taking my first class, i changed my negative thought. I have been taking English class for 2 months and i feel the differences and improvements on my language skills. Raul is a perfect teacher. He is so professional and informed about how to teach. He makes me more courageous to learn English every day. He is also very patient, kind, friendly and understanding. He shares all his informations, sources and experiences about what you want to learn. Learning with him is a big joy. I feel not only happy but also very lucky to know him and to take class from him.
I have been working with Jim on preparing for the SAT and ACT tests since August 2013. For the first couple of months, Jim and I had our sessions on the Upper West Side. As I have to take the GW Bridge to get to Manhattan, I sometimes ran into traffic related problems that prevented me from getting to the city on time to meet him. Jim was very understanding of this, and suggested that we have our lessons on Skype instead. He is very flexible as far as scheduling, which is very convenient for a Junior with a hectic schedule. After taking a practice test, Jim and I went over the questions that I missed. I read the questions out loud because he did not have a copy of the test booklet. I actually wasn't surprised that he was able to tell me all of the correct answers because he has been teaching me all kinds of fool-proof strategies to find the right answer. Jim has helped me raise my composite ACT score by 7 points. Additionally, he has been helping me tremendously throughout this college process. Overall, Jim is a pleasure to work with as he is honest, smart, and encouraging.
I took English lessons with Maura for 6 months. During the classes, we put the emphasis on conversation. We talked about a large number of topics : Politics, Society, day to day life... It gave me much more confidence in my relations with English speakers and, coming from a European country, it also helped me to understand better the American culture. Maura is open, friendly, she makes you feel at ease and she enjoys teaching ESL.
My daughter is extremely happy with their lessons and improving her English In very impressive way
I like my ESL lessons with Marion. She taught me not only the language but also the American culture, which I'm very interested in. Besides that, she is such a nice person that talking with her is always enjoyable.
I learn English from Connor. He proves what a professional great bilingual teacher should be and opens my eyes to the American culture. I have a full time job, he always tries his best to get our class arranged. By using various appropriate methods: reading, dialogue, writing, discussion, he makes my learning interesting and helpful. I got admitted to Columbia University thanks to his help and encouragement. He inspires me to love learning, explore new fields as well.
I have been working on my English with Spencer for a month. It has been extremely helpful since then. He is adequate at explaining the material in the modern academic English. He has a great depth of knowledge that is in need in a social environment. The core concept of his lessons is an easy-going atmosphere. I think it is the most important part of any process when you want to have success! Do not forget to have fun when it comes to learning! Good luck everyone!
We all know when it comes to the SATs there is guaranteed to be a lot of stress. As a sixteen year old high school student going through the SAT process, I can vouch for this. My anxiety began months ago. I admired people who had started their SAT prep a year before, while envying students who were just naturally good test takers, scoring 2000 and up; however, when you dont fit into either of those categories you start wondering what now? At that point an SAT tutor seemed like a good idea. Enter Danny Ahn. The first time I met Danny, I was unsure what to expect. He understood my confusion and began to structure a plan of action. He soon established the level I was at in English and Math, and then focused in. After a few sessions I began to understand the kind of approach required of me. I have worked with Danny Ahn weekly since around late October or early November, 2013 and our work is ongoing. It is now Feb. 17, 2014. I have found Danny to be a good communicator and listener. He is dedicated, nurturing, focused, and hardworking, going beyond his allotted time with me to help me achieve my goals. He genuinely cares about my mental well being as well as my academic standing. He is readily available on the phone and via text, and has proven to be accommodating with regards to scheduling. I believe that Danny is pushing me in the right direction and I am feeling increasingly more confident with regards to the dreaded upcoming SATs. Danny has an excellent understanding of the SAT requirements and I feel that with his continued guidance I can achieve my goals.
They helped me succeed on the TOEFL test. They also helped my skills with business English. I am thankful to them and recommend them.
Francesca has been my teacher for about 10 lessons. Needed some class to improve my Italian for my trip to Rome and to Sicily. Francesca was the best ever . She prepared each lesson carefully, made me comfortable and explain me everything I wanted to know. It was easy with her because she is Italian native but her English is great too. That allowed us to communicate when Italian itself was not sufficient enough for me. I highly recommend her, she is a responsible young girl, full of initiative and willing to teach proper Italian in a most comfortable way and environment possible . Five star teacher for me! Outstanding.
I am in the U.S. just for 5 months. I am learning the grammar and writing in an English school. But I need to learn to speak. Mrs. Thiele has taught me to speak correctly. She is just awesome. She has taught very well and her personality also very great. I have learned a lot from her. I appreciate her so much. My speaking is getting better because of her lesson. Thanks
Mrs. Schoenwald was my 10th and 11th Grade english teacher at a special needs High School. Mrs. Schoenwald's instruction was always clear and concise; when focus was lost Marna was able to easily redirect the class back to the lesson. With Marna's guidance and teaching style our class was able to excel and enjoy learning even when what was being taught (book being read or essay) was not interesting or engaging.
Amanda works with my son who is in 6th grade. We live in Shanghai and he is really excited to work with her 3 times a week on English, history and his writing skills. They talk about books and she is great with improving his writing and grammar skills. She really goes for topics that excite him like sports and science. It's great to have a private teacher for my son he is going past grade level with this extra learning and practice each week.
Ann was a wonderful tutor; she prepared me and guided me to take the best path for my TOELF test. I appreciated the simplicity she used in her explanations. Great advice, individual approach and positive attitude. Always on time, ready to help, intelligent and kind. She was patient and very efficient in her teaching methods. She was really encouraging. I highly recommend her Thank you, Ann!
He is very professional. Love the techniques he uses to teach; he mainly teaches 12 year old's so his technique simplifies whatever you learning for any age. Also very punctual.
Even though I have lived in America for a few years, when I needed to study for the GRE I knew that I would need a tutor to get good score. Dwight was a fun and knowledgeable tutor who makes lessons interesting and really focused on my weaknesses to help me get better. I would recommend him to my best friend.
I teach at the student's level. I try to make the lessons fun. We work with a textbook and also have free conversations.
I am a New York based dancer previously trained at Broadway Dance Center. I'm seeking a route in the professional dance industry but my dream has always been to teach others hip-hop and contemporary movement. I'm eager to work with anyone who is willing to learn a few steps, some confidence, and the art of everything dance. I am also TESOL/TESL/TEFL certified to teach ESL students!
I understand that content is equally important to test technique. Studying isolated patches of topics without connecting them to test strategy does not spell success in the game of standardized test taking.
I am a master's degree graduate from the University of Ireland who has written numerous published economic articles as well as authored poetic and narrative prose.
I am a Long Island based instructor and certified to teach English as a second language; this includes English literacy and reading. I have taught at a community college in New York and really enjoy watching the light bulb flash when a student understands something new. Also, I have been a swimming instructor and a lifeguard for seven years. I've coached and worked with all levels and ages. I am a motivator and your cheerleader, and I want to help you accomplish your goals.
