I'm so happy that I chose to learn CPR, AED, and First Aid lessons from Ricardo Camacho Jr. He was very professional through out the whole lesson. For every single question my friend and I asked he had a answer to all of them. I felt very comfortable in the space where we learned everything. The videos that we watched was a lot of fun to watch, I never felt bored at all, I was very intrigued and interested in all of the videos we watched. I highly recommend everyone to take him. Thank you Ricardo.

I have been working with David for singing lessons for over a month now and within the first lesson have seen vast improvement. He caters each lesson to you specifically and is able to expand on your problem areas with such ease that it becomes easily conquered. His ability to explain the right methods of practice have significantly helped my voice. I would recommend him to any person seeking to improve their voice. We'll worth any travel distance!

I am looking forward to continuing music lessons with David. I met him for the first time this week. I know that he will be able to achieve my goals. I was looking for a teacher that specifically can teach sight singing. I am more than confident that I'll be sight singing very soon. David is obviously is genuinely passionate about teaching. It is a career for him not just something done here and there. I'm lucky to have met him.

Serge went out of his way to meet me earlier than usual. He was both professional and friendly. Informative and patient. He cares! In our first lesson I learned so much. He covered the basics along with a few moves. Serge is the real thing. I can comfortably recommend him.

I've been seriously singing for 7 years, and after only 2 visits with Rae I noticed some exciting changes. She's clearly a talented vocalist, she knows her craft, and her passion for it is contagious. I'm looking forward to more lessons and seeing how far I can take my voice! Thanks Rae!

I have been learning bass with the Dom for over a month now. I am a complete beginner but already making good progress. He has a great knowledge of the bass guitar. As Dom is a accomplished Jazz guitar player I find it great to be able to learn songs and then play along with guitar aswell as learning music theory and sight reading. Dom is great teacher with years of experience who understands how to pace the lesson. He always give you enough to practice without overloading and follows up with emails and musical reference of things discussed in the lesson. If you are thinking of taking lessons either on Bass or Guitar, accomplished or beginner, I would highly recommend Dom Paul

She is well organised and structured in her approach to teaching which is so helpful especially when you are a beginner and trying to grasp the basics. Each lessons has been uniquely customized to my level and progress. Gloria is extremely patient and finds ways to keep the lessons fun and interesting while at the same time making them challenging enough to enable you to progress. I have been working with David as a bass teacher for a couple of months now to re-develop my skills and he has been a fantastic instructor. David has a great ability to read where you are in your development and come up with fun and relevant lessons to advance your development. He clearly has a deep knowledge of music theory but makes his lessons in theory much more interesting than any I've ever had and has me look forward to learning every week. David has made learning bass fun and I'd highly recommend him.

I took voice lessons with Mara for about a year and only stopped because my work schedule was making it difficult to meet regularly. I can't rave enough about her patience, outgoing personality, and knowledge. She had this way of making me comfortable from day one, which speaks volumes since I had a bad experiencing singing in front of others as a child. I could not recommend Mara enough as a voice teacher--she makes lessons something you look forward to each and every week! I wouldn't take lessons with anyone else.

I had felt very nervous just before i started to take English lessons from Raul. I had some anxiety and a negative thought about i will never learn English. After taking my first class, i changed my negative thought. I have been taking English class for 2 months and i feel the differences and improvements on my language skills. Raul is a perfect teacher. He is so professional and informed about how to teach. He makes me more courageous to learn English every day. He is also very patient, kind, friendly and understanding. He shares all his informations, sources and experiences about what you want to learn. Learning with him is a big joy. I feel not only happy but also very lucky to know him and to take class from him.

Pamela is wonderful! She's kind, knowledgeable, encouraging and packs so much into her hour lesson. My only downside is I haven't been practicing enough between lessons. But even with that weakness on my part, I'm seeing big improvents just from our sessions. I've had eight so far. Now that I'm committed to practicing every day , who knows how far I'll go? So glad I found Pamela!! She's great!!!

I had my first lesson with Francis and I’m extremely pleased. He is both, very patient and very knowledge on the art of piano playing. He explains quite well even the most subtle of details on techniques (That by the way, made all the difference) in how I approached the piano keys. He was well prepared having printed out material for me to go over and even went as far as to writing notes for me so that I can practice and study on my own. I feel very confident in his teaching and know that I will not only learn how to play piano the right way but also become one with the sound and the movement of my fingers (Per Francis). I am continuing my lessons and I recommend him, for sure!

Michelle is great with kids. Our 7-year old daughter loves her piano lessons and always looks forward to them. More important, we can hear that she is really learning and making great progress. Two of her school friends have started lessons with Michelle after we recommended her.

I've been taking private Spanish lessons with Laura for 3 months and I can't recommend her enough. She is professional, funny and flexible. Our sessions are tailored to my interests, and she truly understands languages and how to teach them effectively. I recently went on a trip to Cuba and could tell a major improvement in my Spanish after only taking lessons with her for a short time. Thank you, Laura :)

Dear All, My daughter is 11 years old. She has been playing piano since she was 5. After one year of piano practice, it became apparent that it is her true passion. Since then she was studying under a wonderful piano teacher, who graduated from Juilliard. We met David when my daughter’s piano teacher decided to move to another state. He is a wonderful, totally committed, detailed educator. He has a very pleasant, polite personality, and is easy to relate to. My child loves having lessons with him. Since she is already playing Chopin Études and some more challenging pieces the lessons are very interesting and almost always touch on music theory topics. David would teach my daughter how to correct her posture, discuss the details in phrasing, show her how to practice effectively and much more. He sets the bar high, but is willing to give his best in order to bring the best in your child as a musician. What’s most amazing about David as a piano teacher, is that he completely understands how your child feels as a student and can give ideas and tips based on how he felt when studying piano as a child and a young adult. That quality is very rare and made my daughter enjoy piano classes with David even more. I would recommend David to anyone who loves music and would like to learn the instrument and to all of those who already do know how to play it well. David has a knowledge and expertise in music, is reliable and trustworthy and willing to listen to his student’s own ideas while working on their weaknesses. Piano is fun with David!

I've been taking weekly lessons with Corinn for about 7/8 weeks and cannot believe the improvement. I feel so much more prepared and confident for my upcoming auditions. I can honestly say that I have never had a voice teacher as knowledgeable and as committed to my success as Corinn is. I can't thank you enough Corinn!!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do I become CPR and first aid certified?

You can earn CPR training and receive first aid certification in a number of ways. Choose an online course to learn the materials remotely and then find a testing location to complete the certification process with an in-person demonstration of your knowledge and skills. Encourage your workplace to host a first aid and CPR training so employees can learn what to do in case of a workplace emergency and how to respond with lifesaving techniques. You may also be able to take a CPR or first aid class in your community. A basic CPR training may run four to five hours. After receiving CPR training, you’ll know how to respond if an adult or a child goes into cardiac arrest or stops breathing. You’ll learn how to use chest compressions to keep blood pumping to a person’s organs, which can keep them alive until an emergency responder can arrive. First aid and CPR training can also include education about how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).

What does a Spanish tutor do?

The goal of a Spanish tutor is to help students improve their Spanish reading, writing, comprehension, and conversation skills. The tutor’s approaches may vary, depending on whether the instruction is individual or a group class. Many Spanish tutors practice immersion — meaning they will speak only Spanish with their pupils. For students with little to no Spanish experience, the Spanish tutor may use a mix of Spanish and English to accustom their students to speaking the language.

A Spanish tutor can offer a wide range of services to their students. For students currently enrolled in a Spanish class through their middle school or high school, a Spanish tutor can help them with homework and language practice, as well as expanding their understanding of their current school curriculum. For adults, Spanish tutors will have different approaches based on that student’s need. Academics and those seeking high-level professional development for their career will often have more intensive and targeted lessons, drills, and interactive speaking tests. For adults who wish to learn conversational Spanish for fun or for travel, lessons may revolve around learning commonly used phrases and practicing speaking in relaxed settings.

What is CPR training?

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (better known as CPR) is a lifesaving manual technique that pumps oxygenated blood back into the body’s organs if someone’s heart or breathing has stopped. A variety of CPR training is available to community members, employees and healthcare providers. CPR training may last two to five hours or more, depending on the content and the target audience. During the training, students will learn how to recognize and respond to an emergency situation. There are different CPR techniques for adults and children, but with both you will learn how to determine whether the person is conscious before administering chest compression. During the training you’ll learn chest compression techniques for adults and different techniques for children between the ages of 1 and 8. Students learn how to properly administer chest compressions, when the technique is appropriate and when it is not, and how long you must perform rescue measures. Students also learn what an automatic external defibrillator (AED) is and how to use it if necessary to shock a patient before administering CPR chest compressions.

What is first aid training?

With first aid training, you may be able to help save a life. First aid training can teach people who are not medical professionals how to help a sick or injured person in crisis before an ambulance arrives on the scene. Most commonly, first aid training helps teach you how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use automated external defibrillators (AEDs).

First aid training can teach you how to respond in a variety of emergency situations, including:

  • Asthma attack
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Burns
  • Choking
  • Diabetic emergencies
  • External bleeding
  • Heart attack
  • Poisoning
  • Neck, head or back injury
  • Stroke
  • Seizure

First aid training classes may be offered by professionals who are affiliated with the Red Cross, which offers online, in-person, and blended training classes. First aid classes are also often offered through local recreation centers, city services, schools, hospitals and private companies.

What can you do with a first aid certificate?

People with a first aid certificate are trained to respond quickly and appropriately in life-threatening situations. Although a first aid certificate alone isn’t enough to secure a job, it can make you more attractive to certain types of potential employers. When you have a first aid certificate, you’ve proved that you know how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), use an automated external defibrillator (AED), and handle emergency situations like choking, heavy bleeding, a heart attack or stroke, or anaphylaxis. Most parents prefer babysitters and lifeguards with first aid certification. Many professionals, especially those who work with children, are required to have first aid training, including teachers, coaches, counselors and therapists, firefighters, and social workers. In addition to adult and pediatric first aid plus CPR and AED courses, you can take first aid training specifically designed for babysitting and child care, for health care settings, and for swimming and water safety situations..
