Beatrice was great. I contacted her regarding french lessons and she exceeded my expectations. The lesson was extremely helpful right from the start. We sat down and outlined the areas I wanted to work on and where I needed improvement on. I relayed to Beatrice that I wanted to further my conversational skills due to my frequent traveling to France. She challenged me to conduct the rest of our lesson in french which i really appreciated. We then eased into pronunciations and sentence phrasing. Beatrice is extremely nice and helpful when I was stuck on a particular issue. The whole lesson was uniquely structured around my needs and skill level and explained in a way I could understand. I have tried many french teachers before but none were as helpful and as nice as Beatrice. Highly recommended!

I have been a student of Zoe's for 3 years. I speak freely with her, not in a self conscious way, not afraid to make mistakes. She is always very present, quick to correct and her patience is immense. She is highly creative, extremely well-read in both French and English classics as well as contemporary literature. She recommends films and books and challenges me with puzzles, games and she directs me to other French related curriculum that one can find on the internet. She designs her own practice materials with taste and with her own drawings, as she is an accomplish artist as well. Plus--she has great French style and a great sense of humor.

Larry has taught 2 of my Mandarin classes so far. He has been punctual to all of the classes. The children are receptive to him and were able to grasp the activities and lessons in the class

I love the Italian language and culture and realized my speaking abilities from my university studies were rustier than I thought during a recent trip to Italy this past summer. Upon my return to the States, I immediately sought private tutoring and I could not be more satisfied in finding Mariateresa. I've seen vast improvement in my comprehension and speaking since I started taking lessons with her. The first couple months were focused on fundamentals and book work but now each lesson begins with about 30 mins of conversation (in Italian of course) before diving into books. I cannot recommend Mariateresa enough regardless of your comprehension level because not only does she challenge me every week to improve my skill but the time spent with her is very enjoyable and something I look forward to every week.

I had her as a tutor, and she really helped me understand the math I was having trouble with. I saw her every week for 3 months. She explained what was really happening, which helped because I used to forget the order of steps a lot.

Isabelle is a very nice person and she has a very easy way about herself. Its a bit early to say how effective my one on one tutoring experience will be, though as a dependable, supportive, informative tutor, I would rate Isabelle very good.

About

From an early age, my parents stimulated my foreign language interest with Spanish language learning records and a French dictionary. Then in high school I took as many foreign language courses as possible in order to initiate my knowledge of Latin, Spanish, and French. My best foreign language learning experience in college was 2 years of residence in a French dorm, La Maison Francaise, where French became my second language. Then Spanish became my third language after my summer in Barcelona. When I graduated, I taught both languages in Pennsylvania public schools and received my permanent certification in both subjects. Since then I have also studied Italian, Modern Greek, Danish, and German. As a foreign language student now, I know the fear of responding incorrectly to a teacher's/tutor's questions, and in my tutoring I strive for an open atmosphere in which students feel free to ask questions to increase their comprehension and enjoyment of speaking, reading, writing and listening to Spanish or French.

Bonjour! I'm a French man living in NYC and I help people of all ages learning and perfecting their French. Whether you want to learn from scratch, prepare a test or perfect your prononciation, I can help you reach your goals efficiently thanks to my unique approach. I am fluent in three languages and I'm learning a forth one, which helps me providing you with the best angle to learn a language. I like to teach "real-life" French, the language that is actually spoken in France nowadays, rather than the one taught in outdated books, no matter how formal/informal, you'll learn everything you need to become fluent. I have taught French for more than a decade, mostly to American grad student in France, then in the U.S. to different students in a private school. I have a literature high school degree and 2 bachelors in music (I'm a professional musician). Don't hesitate to contact me for more information, I would love to get to know you and help you reach your goals with a little touch of "je ne sais quoi". A bientôt!

About

Fluent City classes are geared towards learning, but we also make sure that the process is super fun. Our energetic and approachable teachers create a relaxed environment for you to take on the challenge of learning a language alongside like-minded people. There is a huge difference between knowing how to speak a language and knowing how to teach it, and we pride ourselves on hiring teachers who are ridiculously good at what they do: explaining how the language works and getting you to speak it immediately. Our beginner classes are usually taught by non-native speakers…on purpose! They are often Americans who learned the language themselves as adults. Our teachers understand, firsthand, everything that goes into learning a language because they were once students of the language themselves, which informs the very way they explain how it works to you. Native speakers or teachers with native-level fluency usually teach our higher-level classes.

I am Burkinabe and Francophone. I came to the United States for my master's, but before that I must learn English well. I would like to give French lessons to everyone who loves language and that! I also allow myself to make friends but mainly to improve my English.

About

Most teachers, like me, are professional musicians who supplement their income by giving lessons. However: I genuinely love teaching and would happily do it even if I didn't need the money. My students can see the passion and excitement I have for my work, and that does wonders in their ability to learn and develop. It is one thing to play an instrument well, but it is another thing entirely to know how to teach it well.
