Summer in NYC makes for a good roach season....but not with these guys. My building's contracted exterminators do a careless job and come at inconvenient times. So I needed someone to really take a look at the root cause, get rid of these suckers and take preventative measures. Bugged Out did all this. They came on the dot at my convenience shortly after I made an inquiry. Justin walked all over the apartment and got in all the nooks and crannies. Roaches gone, personal sanity and comfort back.

We discovered that we had a potential bedbug problem very early in the morning on the Saturday of this past Labor Day weekend. I had struck out with a few other exterminators in my area, being told that technicians wouldn't be available until Tuesday. The folks at Terminators Pest Managenent had a technician, Jerry, at our apartment that afternoon. Jerry and his assistant were prompt, professional and incredibly thorough. Through this Thumbtack service, we were able to ask questions any time of day, all of which were replied to almost immediately. Having even a minor bedbug issue, as we did, can be an incredible nuisance in so many ways. These guys made the process of ridding us of bugs and moving on with our lives as easy as I feel it could have gone. I would recommend Terminators Pest Management to anyone looking to rid themselves of pests.

His dedication and love for his work made him cover all the bases. I am very impressed with the quality of his service. I highly recommend him and will call him again in the future!

James was phenomenal - he scheduled me so quickly when I called for mice and roaches. He reassured me about spraying with my animals in the apartment and we had a plan that was executed perfectly. He showed up right on time and communicated when he would be there. Him and his partner got everything done extremely fast and charged me less than estimated due to the quick job. Compared to other options in the area, not only was his price extremely fair, he was also very professional. I would absolutely hire him again for any pest/rodent needs and plan to get another spray in 6 months. Thank you, James!

We found termites in our basement late last spring and after getting quotes from a couple of exterminators, we chose to go with Gus. Gus is passionate about pest control and termites in particular. He protected the perimeter of our house with termite treatment and also put foam and bait stations as necessary at the source of the infestation, which in our case was at the base of the basement stairs. Even months after getting our house treated, Gus would always answer my questions over the phone or via text and even stopped by one time to address one of my concerns. You can't go wrong with Gus and I recommend him highly.

Even though I was egregiously hysterical about roaches he was absolutely awesome. Came on time, professional, answered my ridiculous questions, explained everything-- got it all done. I had an exterminator come in a few weeks before and saw a live roach soon after so I'm glad I'll be getting the value for money this time. Would definitely hire again and would definitely recommend!

I can’t say enough for “what’s bugging you?” After going completely crazy with other exterminators who did nothing but charge me lots of $ and never eliminated my bedbug situation. I got in touch with Fernando of “what’s bugging you?”, he answered promptly and destroyed the bedbugs, I will never use anyone else, and his prices are great. I highly recommend him.

The technician showed up on time, was very helpful in making me aware of the different products he was using, and was also great working around my two cats and niece. He just conducted his last inspection after he treated for bedbugs, and its been three weeks and I think its safe to say they're all gone. He also gave me a great deal on his pest preventative services which I didn't hesitate signing up for because of my proximity to a landfill, there's a lot of rodents and other critters that come to my property.

Very personable experience that you won't get from big box exterminators. No pressure sales and someone even took the time to call and advise me with a very unbiased professional opinion when I was deciding between a big box and a smaller company. Highly reccomend!

Thomas Skinner is a miracle worker!!!!! I am one of those people who never get around to leaving reviews. But given the circumstances, I really feel it is necessary. There was a very bad roach infestation in my apartment! Twice, exterminators sent by landlord came. Both times, there was no noticeable difference. I did some research and decided to hire Thomas Skinner. Almost immediately, the roach population began to decline. Within in a few days, there were very few roaches. By the end of the week, there were NO roaches. It is now about a month later and I have not seen a single roach. Thomas Skinner is very knowledgable, methodical AND most importantly, very effective. I am usually very skimpy in my praise. But I must give Thomas Skinner my highest recommendation. You will be glad you hired him

This has been my second experience with bed bugs unfortunately and the first Exterminator I called was deplorable! I’m so glad I found TD Pest Control and Tommy! He came gave an honest evaluation and told me exactly what I needed to do and what he was going to do. The owner himself does the work! So happy I found him and he is now my go to Exterminator!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How much does it cost to treat a house for termites?

Termites are not only creepy-crawly, they can literally eat your house out from underneath you. Termites feed on damp and dry wood and can chomp through your house at an alarming rate. The national average pest control cost for termite extermination is $240-$400. Treatment costs can be higher for an extensive infestation. Here are some examples of average pest control costs for termites:

  • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: $3-$4 per linear foot.
    • For $75 per year, a company may offer a maintenance plan that provides inspection of the property and renewal of the warranty.
  • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: approximately $400 for a 2,000-square-foot home at $3-$5 per linear foot.
    • The price is higher for additional work such as foaming and drilling inside of concrete slabs.
  • Fumigation treatment of drywood termites: $1,200-$1,500 for a 30,000- to 35,000-cubic-foot home
    • Fumigation is measured in cubic feet because it fills the airspace of the home and infiltrates the wood that the termites may be colonizing. The cost of fumigation is affected by the number of levels in the home as well as the square footage.

How much does it cost to get rid of cockroaches?

Cockroaches are not only ugly, they are difficult to get rid of. Quick and resilient, they can be hard to get rid of without professional help once they have inhabited a house. Nationally, the average range for cockroach pest control cost is $80-$130. Extermination professionals typically provide a free estimate to determine the extent of the infestation. They’ll check for the main sources of the bugs, identify bug access and entry points into your home, and determine the best method for elimination. There are a variety of cockroach extermination tools including gel baits and traps, pesticide foggers, desiccants (which dry out the cockroaches), neurotoxins, and other pesticides. Pest control costs can also cover preventive measures like regular spraying and trap maintenance. Some regions of the country are much more prone to cockroach problems than others, so pest control costs may need to be part of your quarterly budget. Cockroaches love dark, humid, and warm areas and water sources, so place traps near your washer and dryer and under your sinks.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

  • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
    • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
  • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost to get a pest inspection?

In general there is no cost for a pest inspection. Exterminators typically provide a free property or building inspection and then provide you with a written estimate outlining the necessary treatment and cost. The home visit allows the exterminator to assess the problem and let you know what your pest control cost will be if you contract with their services. You may need a termite inspection for real estate purposes. This will be a verified inspection showing that the house in question is termite-free (often done before a sale). The inspection may cost a flat rate, such as $125-$150, depending on house size.

It’s hard to predict pest control costs sight unseen due to the variety of factors that go into pest treatment. For example, a bedbug problem for one customer may be confined to one room and be easy to access and treat in one visit if the room is clear of clutter and the bedbugs have been caught early. In another home, a bedbug problem may also be confined to one room, but there’s a great deal of clutter, providing more hiding places for the bugs and requiring more spray and labor for the exterminator, as well as many pieces of large furniture in the room that need to sprayed. Depending on the maturity of the infestation, a bedbug problem may require multiple visits to entirely eliminate. This is why many companies provide a free inspection to determine pest control costs and provide you the most accurate quote possible.
