I wish we would've started with Arbor Tutors in the beginning. I've been very bad at math my entire life. I flunked algebra three times before I called Arbor Tutors. They have many very highly trained tutors at a very low price.

I needed some help with algebra in 8th grade. My parents had heard of Jeremy from a friend, so we got in touch and he started tutoring me. Jeremy is an excellent tutor. He helped me with my Algebra and all of my other subjects. He has a vast array of knowledge in all subjects ranging from Algebra to History. On top of that, Jeremy taught me what was important to focus on. He helped me prepare for the SAT and showed me how important it was. I went on to do excellent on it. This is what separates him from other tutors. He informs you of things that will be important in the future even when it has nothing to do with what you are learning in class. All the while, Jeremy is friendly and down to earth. It felt like a friend or family member was tutoring me. I truly couldn't give him high enough praise.

Lenore has been helping me hone my math skills in order to pass a placement exam. I feel lucky to have found her on Thumbtack. She is knowledgeable and patient. She clearly cares about my success and goes out of her way to accommodate my needs as well as my schedule. I intend to continue working with her in order to pass both the Elementary and College Algebra portions of the test so that I can complete my associates degree and move onto the University for my four year degree. I can honestly and emphatically recommend Lenore as a teacher, tutor and advocate! Sent from my iPhone

Dillon Herbig has been working with my son Mo since summer 2014. My son really struggled with mathematics and lacked the determination and focus to thrive in this subject. Dillon has been a miracle worker, encouraging my son to have confidence in his abilities to succeed. Dillon has been incredibly patient and caring as a tutor, allowing my son to apply himself in and out of the classroom. My son has truly progressed in math and it is all due to Dillon's calm, professional focus and dedication to helping my child realize success. H. Levinson

While working with Irine Kobulashvili I have learned real math and understood the concepts of it. While working with her I was developing good math and communication skills. She was the one who showed me how to solve problems in math and in real life also. While working with her I have gained an unique experience of life long lessons.

Danny is really great. I am working with Danny to take the CLEP exam in Algebra and it has been many, many years since I have been in school, so I remember very little about the subject. Danny is very knowledgeable and warm and immediately puts me at ease. He is dependable and calm and always manages to lift my spirits when I get discouraged. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

I've worked with Rudy for both an algebra class and a quantitative reasoning/social science course, both within the past seven months. Math has been the bane of my academic existence for a very long time, but Rudy puts everything into perspective quite nicely. The guy truly knows his stuff and I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking to understand this subject.

Mr. Michael is an excellent tutor. He puts his students first and has been very compassionate towards me during the time he conducted lessons with me. He never made money his priority. Whenever we had lessons, he would always be prepared and bring enough material that would carry me throughout the week. I am extremely grateful for his service and I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for an excellent tutor.

I hired Robert after reading his tutoring philosophy. My son, a consistent high honor roll student, was struggling with 10th grade algebra 2/ trigonometry honors. After the second semester assessment said he was in danger of failing we knew he wasn't going to catch up on his own. I had no idea how to find a tutor and stumbled on Thumbtack. Robert's breadth of knowledge, not just trig, is quite remarkable. He is a gifted teacher. He quickly assessed my sons deficiencies and set out to bring him up to speed. Over the next several weeks, with weekly sessions, Robert would assign my son work and explain the topics in a way that that he finally started to get it. The next step in their relationship was that Robert convinced my son that if he put in the work he was capable of much more than just getting by. Robert has never tried to "sell" us more sessions, there were weeks where he felt he wasn't needed and we would skip those weeks. The end result was a 96 on the Regents. Quite a turnaround for a student who was failing in January and was hoping to just get a passing grade on the Regents. Won't hesitate to bring him back into our home for any future challenges my son may face.

Erik has a way of evaluating what needs to be accomplished and has the knowledge and skill in order to execute it. He has terrific interpersonal skill making me feel as though I am helpless after 24 years of not doing any algebra whatsoever. I give Erik 5 stars, if you need a tutor, he's the man!

Leslie tutored our daughter in Algebra for an online course and school. We had challenging deadlines to meet and she came through in flying colors. We met the deadline and scored a very good final grade.

About

Hi! My name is Mike. I just graduated from Princeton with a PhD in chemistry, and I have tutored chemistry, physics, and math since I was an undergrad to support myself through my schooling. Most of my tutoring experience is at the high school level, where I have tutored public school kids like myself and private high school kids who later went on to become Ivy Leaguers themselves. I have also taught Princeton undergrads, and I can assure you that I deliver the same quality tutoring to every single student at the same price regardless of his/her background. Sweet deal, right? Now I am joining Thumbtack to find new students to teach because I moved out of Princeton to NY for my day job, and I want to continue sharing my scientific expertise with students like you! Just drop me a line, and let me know what you need.

About

I charge $45 per 45 minutes after an initial consultation. My focus is to get you PLAYING and having fun. I don't start by teaching music theory, but teaching chords and songs. I teach you to listen to the music you love and learn to play it. If you are more advanced, we learn lead and playing solos. We focus on shapes and scales. If you are more rhythm, we learn chord progressions, pick styles, and accenting your riffs to add color and dimension. I take different approaches for acoustic and electric, as they should be treated as two different instruments. I am laid back and don't apply a lot of pressure, but I expect daily practice - I just don't push. You've got to want it. To start, I need to know: 1/. Your style and your level 2/. Your guitar type and whether this is the type you want to learn on 3/. Your budget for equipment (if you don't have a guitar) and a couple of books 4/. Your expectations. We can cover all this and more in the free consultation.
