Milton was excellent--I gave him a laundry list of small things around the house to do (fixing our garage door openers, changing some light bulbs) as well as assembling some children's beds and he did all the tasks very quickly, efficiently, and cleanly. I highly recommend him. He's great!

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Ozeas Lannes of Lannes Construction, a "Honey Do" Handyman. First, that is such a cute marketing byline. I had hired Mr Lannes originally to install an electric garage door opener. Mr Lannes showed up half an hour early and was very very meticulous focusing on every detail of the job until it was perfect. Who ever heard of a contractor showing up half an hour early?. Mr Lannes is polite, knowledgeable, efficient, very neat and an expert in this field. In fact, I wound up engaging Mr Lannes yesterday as well to remove my old water tank which was an eyesore in my basement and wasting space. He also saw a few things around the kitchen out of sorts like the light fixture and the lock on the back door and fixed them.... I plan on engaging Mr. Lannes again in the Spring. Happy Holidays !

The repairman arrived on-time for his appointment and spent an additional day at my home to ensure the faucet replacement was done correctly and to ensure there was no additional leakage (not a drop!) of unused water wasted. As this repairman's work was such good quality and with good care, as well as fairly priced, I contracted his services for some additional odd jobs around my home, which included touch-up painting, automatic garage door repair, kitchen cabinet repairs and installation of lighting fixtures (minor electrical work).

Job was too paint garage and make it like an interior room. Along the way my wife changed the paint, shortened lead time to start, but none of this ruffled Jon's feathers. He was on time, easy to find, quick to reply, and he was reasonably priced. Job was well done. I will certainly have Jonathan back soon. Highly recommended, honest, and fair. What more can you ask!

Needed a Spring on Overhead Garage Door as it had snapped - Following Mark's suggestion we replaced both springs - He came at the time agreed - He communicated via text twice before his arrival for the job - the work was professional - meticulous attention to detail - he undid a piece of work because it was not exactly as he wanted it to turn out which added time to the job - However the price he quoted was what he asked for - besides which he was a pleasant and engaging person. I Highly recommend Mark Messina.

Called several reputable garage door repairs to have my broken garage spring replaced. Received a wide range of pricing. Not only was Danibul priced reasonably, he was very professional and knew what he was doing. He came on the same day and got it fixed and educated on how to maintain the door to minimize future problems. Also I appreciated the fact that he was not trying to convince me to replace other parts to charge me additional - which is a very common practice. Definitely recommend Danibul.

Anthony did a great job on our basement. He installed a water driven backup sump pump. Installed new drywall, tile, lighting, and a toilet to turn our washroom into a half bathroom. Anthony was on time, clean, and took time to explain what he was doing and what options we had. His pricing was fair and honest. I would definitely use Lasting Impression again for home repairs and remodeling.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

        Who repairs garage doors?

Garage door repair is a specialized job, which is typically handled by a garage door repair service. Professional garage door repair technicians can test or repair a garage door system and fix cosmetic blemishes on doors. Common requests include help with jammed or inoperable doors, slow or erratic doors, unusual sounds, dents or scrapes on the door, and general system testing. Garage door repair professionals can work on single-car, double-car and RV-size garage doors.

How much does garage door repair cost?

When a garage door goes off the track, the spring breaks, the door is dented or the garage door opener is on the fritz, a professional garage door repair specialist can help. The cost to have a garage door fixed varies, but the national average cost of garage door repair is $70-$110. The extent of the damage and the size and material of the door will affect the final cost. A garage door repair company generally charges a national average of $80 for a service call, which includes the first hour of labor and service, such as testing and inspecting the garage door and opener. Apart from labor, the garage door repair costs hinge on buying replacements parts. For example, a new spring costs an average of $60. Expect to pay several hundred dollars, though, if the door is beyond repair; a new garage door ranges in price from $200 to $4,000, and most homeowners spend an average of $800-$1,200.

How do you choose a garage door?

When garage door repair isn’t an option — perhaps the current door is beyond fixing or you want to upgrade to a quieter, more energy-efficient model — it’s time to buy a new one. But choosing a garage door is not as simple as it sounds, even when you know the right size for your home. A wide range of materials, styles and finishes are available, and each factor influences the cost. Garage doors are made of aluminum, steel, vinyl, fiberglass, masonite, wood (typically cedar or mahogany), or a composite of several materials. They may be insulated against cold or heat. Traditional and modern styles include raised panel, carriage house or crossbuck. Most styles have window or arch options, and are available in different wood finishes and neutral colors. Because garage doors account for a large part of a home’s exterior, their appearance is usually a homeowner’s top priority. An attractive garage door can increase a home’s curb appeal and resale value.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
