In my first time using MKDiehl Editing Services, and my first time seeking help via ThumbTack, I was very pleased with her work. She proof-read our 48 page public policy report. When reviewing this and other editing services on Thumbtack, I didn't know whether to expect proof reading or full-on copy editing, but was very happy in the end. It was a huge boost to the quality of my writing, and a big step up from relying on just our internal staff proof reading. I'm looking forward to using this great service again, and found the price very reasonable.

Jeremy is an excellent teacher. My daughter has benefited in more ways than I can count because of Jeremy. She has become more organized and is learning an advanced curriculum in both math and writing. He is a dedicated teacher and always makes sure my child's learning comes first. Now, instead of arguing with her to study for exams, she does so without hesitation. He gives me a summary of every lesson and explains what my daughter has been learning and what she can improve on. Overall, Jeremy is a excellent role model and plays a pivotal role in my daughter's life. I won't hesitate to hire him again for my second daughter if needed.

The project was to find a professional resume writer who could create a resume and cover letter for a retiree with 25+ years of experience to apply for an administrative part-time position. I believe the comments below speak for themselves. First reaction, "WOW”. I really wasn't too optimistic that she would be able to take what I provided her and craft it in such a way to get so much information into 1 page. Of course my expectation was an improvement over what I provided, but she really took it to another level; I was amazed! To have someone who truly understands ... respects my feelings is absolutely priceless. I guess the best way I can say this, is the professionalism, sincerity and genuine commitment to my project is something we all as consumers wish we could experience with any company we do business with! Well done!" Thank you so much for a job “Well done”!

Frank has done an excellent job of copy editing my 250 manuscript. He was timely, high quality, and courteous. His comments were well thought out. I would highly recommend his work. He went beyond the editing by discussing with me different publishing possibilities.

As part of my job in communications with the Auschwitz Institute for Peace and Reconciliation, an international non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of genocide and other mass atrocities, I took Spanish lessons with Laura multiple times per week from January of 2016 to December of 2017. While I began this endeavor with a rudimentary understanding of Spanish, my abilities – especially with regards to my professional duties – rapidly improved. We worked together on a variety of communications products and translations (both English-Spanish and Spanish-English). Due to the nature of my work, translated items featured specialized political and diplomatic vocabularies. Over the course of our time together, we synthesized and translated a wide variety of documents including interviews with prominent actors in the field, recurring reports on efforts for the prevention of mass atrocities, reporting on events in the field, newsletters and other electronic communications, as well as a wide variety of other documents as they arose. These efforts required fast-paced work to meet tight deadlines and necessitated an understanding of concepts and vocabulary used in the field of human rights, international humanitarian law and mass atrocity prevention. The translated documents have been used for a wide variety of training initiatives for government officials around the world and by partnered entities, such as the Latin American Network for Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention. In short: Laura provides a high-quality service and I would certainly recommend her to anyone (or any organization) looking for a private teacher or tutor, especially in the context of communications. She is very consistent and always came equipped with any customized materials or background research necessary to maximize the productivity of our sessions.

David Tabatsky is one of those rare individuals in modern day publishing who consistently shines in all three of the industry's most fundamental criteria: writing, editing and administrative skills. He would be an asset to any organization seeking someone whose love of words is matched only by his proficiency at putting them together.

Dr. Mansur helped me achieve a goal that I thought was impossible. She was very responsive to all of my needs and questions. She met with me via Zoom to help answer any questions and to clear up any misunderstandings I had about my work. She never hesitated to answer a question and she was always positive and encouraged me to be the best that I could be. Dr. Mansur was also very knowledgeable about how to complete a dissertation and gave suggestions on what was needed to improve my writing. I would recommend anyone to give Dr Mansur an opportunity to make your dissertation writing less stressful and easier. Dr. Wintter Samuel

    About

I am a writer-editor who can make any piece of copy sing, whether financial, legal or medical; feature news or hard news. I have over two decades experience proofing and editing stock purchase agreements, bond rating sheets, quarterly reports, and more for Clifford Chance, Lazard, Davis Polk, Sullivan & Cromwell; for Debevoise, O'Melveny, Credit Suisse, and dozens of other law firms and investment banks centered in Manhattan, in other words, the largest law firms and investment banks in the world. As more foreign firms do business in the U.S., the need for sensitive, accurate editing becomes more acute. I've edited (and sometimes have almost re-written!) every kind of document, from punchy hard news pieces, to grant proposals to feature stories, to film reviews; I have briefed many legal cases, as well. My experience has made me extremely attentive to structure and detail and to the author's original intent. It's important to know how to do full reads, cold reads, black and redlining; line editing and copy editing, but the key is empathy. My experience has made me an empathetic editor: the writer's dignity and vision must be preserved. I've edited some books, a few screenplays, many articles, and I read and edit legal citations, as well. Worked also at SciMed, editing and proofreading material for the medical and pharmaceutical industries. Additionally, I've written and edited pieces for Total TV, the Cable Guide and Riot Media. I have written over 100 stories published in magazines nationwide, and I was a copy editor briefly (temp assignment) for Gentlemen's Quarterly. I've also written seven books, published by Lulu and Amazon. Have an M.S. from Columbia University, Graduate School of Journalism, and a J.D. from University at Buffalo, School of Law. If you need it written and edited clearly, concisely, intelligently, I'm for you. I play guitar, harmonica, percussion, by the way. You never know . . . Go to LinkedIn (linke above) and have a look at some of my work.

How do you hire a good grant writer?

Grants are available to nonprofit organizations, for-profit businesses that qualify for government grants, and individuals who qualify for foundation or government grants. Hiring a good grant writer can help you gain funding in your chosen field. According to the American Grant Writers’ Association, grant writers can help you research potential grant opportunities; write grant proposals, create budgets, and build budget narratives; review written materials before you submit; prepare a business plan; analyze your organization for grant competitive qualities; prepare research grants; help with 501(c)(3) applications for nonprofits; and more. Investing in the right grant writer could result in a financial win for your organization. Generally no licenses or certificates are required to be a good grant writer, but you may want to find a grant writer who has been certified (not just received a certificate of completion) by a reputable organization such as the Grant Professionals Certification Institute. Qualities to look for in a good grant writer include:

      • Proven success writing winning grants, especially in your target area.
      • Strong writing skills.
      • Strong math skills and demonstrated proficiency with budgeting.
      • Careful attention to detail — brilliant grant proposals may be rejected just for formatting errors, so you want someone who follows instructions explicitly.
      • Expertise in your target area.
      • Punctuality and good communication skills.

How much does a grant writer cost?

Hiring a grant writer can give you a competitive edge when applying for financial grants for your business or nonprofit organization, or as an individual. The cost to hire a grant writer can vary depending on their academic background, areas of expertise, previous grant writing success and years of experience. According to the Grant Professionals Association, grant writers should be paid hourly or by flat fee. It is unethical for a grant writer to accept a commission or percentage compensation of grant monies received. They can, however, be awarded bonuses in line with the hiring company’s prevailing practices. Here are some examples of average grant writing fees:

      • Hourly rate for grant writers with less experience or fewer grants awarded: $25-$35 per hour.
      • Hourly rate for grant writers with some degree of success: $35-$75 per hour.
      • Hourly rate for grant writers with proven success winning large grants: $75-$150 or more per hour.
      • For a smaller grant, the writer may charge a flat fee of $200-$500 for preparation and submission.

Pricing may also vary based on the complexity of the grant application. A federal grant that requires pages of research, budgets and a business plan may take more than 30 hours to prepare. For a high-level grant writer who charges $100 per hour, this means $3,000 or more in grant writing fees.

Most grant writers will provide you with a total cost estimate before agreeing to the work. You may be required to pay a deposit up front, or the grant writer may work from a retainer. Often, seasoned grant writers pay for themselves in the long run by writing successful grants.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
