Reverend Dr. Heidi Swarts

Introduction: I work professionally as a hospital chaplain. My work as a celebrant of weddings, child naming ceremonies, and memorial services stands out for my emotional sensitivity and presence. I never conduct a rite of passage "by rote." I also pay very close attention to detail and often think of things the couple being married may miss - such as making sure to coordinate the wedding music with the ceremony to avoid mistakes (especially in outdoor weddings), working with friends or family members who may be doing readings, to make sure they are comfortable, practice, and speak slowly and loudly; and many other details that often get lost in the hubbub of a wedding. I love working with people in many different settings, but none more so than when the emotional stakes are high. Then my skill as a chaplain is of great value, as i excel at working with people in situations of great stress or emotion. Also, there is no greater privilege than shepherding people through life's greatest moments.
