I'm an experienced guitar player in the blues and rock vein, and wanted to stretch my ears and abilities into jazz. Josh is the perfect teacher for this, because he plays all those genres, and knows how to blend them. He's patient, and tailors the lessons to the individual. Whether you are an experienced guitar player or beginner, Josh will help you play better, and make it fun.

My 5 year old son was interested in piano lessons and as a parent, it is extremely challenging to find that somewhat perfect instructor that will be patient, loving, gentle and kind. After researching dozens of providers in our area, my husband and I found Ms. Gwen and decided to give her a try. As we all know, 5 year children do not easily warm up to adults; but Ms. Gwen made our son feel really comfortable and he actually "LOVED" his first lesson with her. From that point, we knew we hired the right person to mentor our son. She has a very pleasant personality, is extremely talented and loves her craft! We would highly recommend Ms. Gwen to anyone looking to hire a gifted music teacher and singing coach. Well worth the investment and total peace of mind!

I briefly took guitar lessons from Josh. I wanted to learn to play with other musicians and improvise, and his jazz background is what caught my attention. The sessions were informative and Josh was very encouraging. I had to stop unexpectedly but what I learned in the few lessons I took was very helpful and got me out of the rut I fall into while practicing on my own.

I have studied guitar for many years with many different teachers. Assaf is one of the best. He is gifted teacher and musician who is truly committed to helping you become the player you want to be. His lessons are well organized and he has a gift for delivering a well thought out plan for growth. His homework assignments are very clear and if you are willing to do the work your playing will improve almost immediately. A great teacher is essential and in any endeavor. I feel very lucky to have found someone who can help me to achieve my dream of becoming a professional guitarist. I highly recommend him to both beginners and advanced students. You won't be disappointed!

Kevin is a great guitar teacher! He's a very experienced musician and it's fun listening to him talk about music. His enthusiasm and passion are evident. He's quite academic about his teaching and focuses on teaching the basics, integrating theory and technique. I am a beginner guitar player and Kevin has been methodically teaching me the basics rather than jumping into playing songs right away. He's laying a solid foundation which is very important if one is interested in learning to play properly. He is very patient and overall it has been a pleasure learning guitar from him.

He breaks complex concepts down in a compassionate way for beginners and can even challenge seasoned guitar players. He's great with players of all levels from beginner to advanced. His lessons are fun and engaging, and you can tell he's passionate about music and seeing his students thrive. Highly recommended!

I've been working on improving and refreshing my guitar skills with Brian a little over six months now. At first, I didn't really know what to expect since I haven't picked up music in over 15 years. What I liked about Brian is that he was able to customize my lessons to my level. I wasn't a true beginner, but I also wasn't advanced in guitar. He was able to test and adjust his lessons to match my skill level . So far, he has helped me improve in sight reading, finger style techniques, and develop a repertoire of several classical songs. In addition, we've explored Blues and Jazz and scales /accompaniment chords to i for solo guitar improvisations. I love working with Brian and tapping into his vast knowledge of musical styles and techniques. He is flexible and can change the course of a lesson on a dime. Some weeks we strictly work on technique, which is important. He's also a stickler for correct technique and will point out error in form if necessary. My favorite thing about working with Brian is that he is the first instructor (and I've had many) that focuses on developing style and musicality. Many instructors will move a student along when they learn how to play a song..but completely dismiss the importance of performing a piece with musicality in mind. I whole heartedly endorse and recommend Brian as a music / guitar instructor. Don't look further!

Michael is a terrific teacher! He is everything a student of music could ask for in an instructor. I am a busy professional who decided randomly to start learning bass guitar and Michael has been a blast to learn from. First, he is very professional: he is punctual, responsive and very flexible when accommodating my very busy work schedule. He takes the lessons seriously: while we have a lot of fun, he is focused on making sure I am getting as much as I can out of each lesson. No time is wasted. Second, Michael has a great teaching method: we learn while having fun. I know so many other students of music who dread meeting with their teachers (they want to learn but hate the process). Michael makes the sometimes challenging process of learning a new instrument actually enjoyable. This may seem obvious to some but it's worth repeating: if you enjoy something, you'll want to do it more and get better at it. Michael brings that kind of energy to our lessons. Finally, Michael's rates are very reasonable especially considering how much I learn during each lesson. Anyone interested in learning an instrument should absolutely consider learning from Michael Karsh. You will not be disappointed.

Jaf has been giving my boys guitar lessons for 2+ years. He is very patient and talented. Both boys have developed a love for music and playing, and enjoy their sessions with Jaf. My husband and I are pleasantly surprised at their improved ability under Jaf's excellent tutelage, and their eagerness to continue with lessons. Jaf is also understanding and flexible, when life gets in the way of a scheduled lesson.

I decided to resume learning to play the acoustic guitar, an endeavor I began as a teenager. My daughters bought me a lesson from Howie as a Mother's Day gift. It was such a wonderful experience that I have continued to take lessons from him for several years now! He is patient, talented and skilled and has an excellent technique for imparting these abilities to his students. Howie is a great teacher and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone of any age. You will not be disappointed!

Jim’s lessons strike a perfect balance between practical, real-world skills and theoretical knowledge. What started for me as “I'll take a few lessons to get some basic skills on guitar as a second instrument” turned into four years of serious study covering many, many concepts, styles and techniques. His ability to accurately read a students skill level and the direction of their interests (as well as his sense of humor) enables him to build a curriculum that stays interesting, challenging and fun. Thanks to Jim, I have a much more complete understanding of the guitar, and of music in general. Ethan Brooklyn, NY

I've been working with Jonathan professionally for about 5 years now. Jonathan is a dedicated musician and one of the best bass players I've ever heard. on a personal level, he is very kind, nice, easy going and caring. I'll recommend him to anyone, both as a teacher and a session musician.

My son (5) and I (48) have been taking weekly, separate lessons with Dave for over 3 years. We love having Dave as an instructor! We both started not knowing anything about guitar. He started us with the very basics and we are very happy with our progress. Dave adapts to his students...from teaching my son (incorporating car games and soccer games into rewards for well done guitar exercises) and then he's able to transition to teaching me more detailed exercises. My son is playing basic chords and kids songs while I have progressed to a full library of songs. For my son, I wanted him to start to enjoy and learn music. For me I wanted to be able to play my guitar on the beach or at a party. In both cases, Dave has been dedicated to our goals and continues to push us (nicely) to improve to the next level. Lastly, Dave is always on time and has a plan of action for each lesson. We highly recommend Dave whether you are a beginner or highly skilled player.

Tim is an excellent teacher who can cover any genre, range of music you are looking to learn. I'm a beginner on the guitar and was nervous about whether I would feel motivated after my first lesson. After one lesson with Tim, I knew I would want to stick with it. Not only is he patient, but also knew how to break everything down into terms I would retain and understand. In addition to all of this, his rates are also very competitive for NYC. I strongly recommend him!

My daughter began taking lessons with him when she was 12 years old. She had no prior music experience and now, four years later, she plays beautifully in the classical style. She loves her guitar and takes it with her whenever she can. From the beginning, she was given pieces that were a challenge but not more than she could handle. With Bilgehan, she was able to explore many different types of music. He has always treated her as he would any of his adult students and she has had the opportunity to perform along side them in the concerts that he organizes. An excellent teacher who is trustworthy. He is very obliging with scheduling and his prices are very fair. Highly recommend him to parents
